our CULtURE At Nuts and Bolts, we care about the future of each and every student involved in the program. therefore, we think it is important to recognize those outstanding students who have embraced what they have learned.

every year, nuts and bolts holds a competition called The International Business Student of the Year Awards (IBSY). the criteria considered for this award includes: retail sales, up-servicing, average ticket amount and overall excellence in customer service.

1st, 2nd, and 3rd place awards in the categories of Cosmetology and esthet-ics are announced at the international salon and spa expo in long beach at an awards ceremony. the winners receive amazing prizes including cash as well as higher education provided by our partners, the Wella school program and the sassoon Academy.

We received incredible applications from students across the us and Canada for the 4th Annual nuts and bolts international business student of the year competition.

in the Category of Cosmetology, 1st place went to Heather Dalke, from eric fisher Academy in Wichita, Ks

in the esthetics category, melissa Alvarez, also from the eric fisher Academy in Kansas, won 1st place.

Along with the nuts & bolts international business stu-dent of the year Awards is the sassoon Academy school Connection Annual Cut & Color Competition. for the 4th Annual Competition, over 175 students from across the country and Canada submit-ted before and after pictures of models that they cut & colored and the top 3 winners were announced at the joint awards ceremony at the isse conference.

1st place winner suzanne Kroon and 2nd place winner Andrea phillips were both graduates of Cameo College of essential beauty. 3rd place went to Amber evans from eric fisher Academy.

it is important to nuts & bolts to keep our member schools inspired. every year, we hold a leadership Conference at an exciting destination. the purpose is to energize teach-ers and school owners as well as share experiences. it’s also where new products are intro-duced. participants leave the conference with a revived spirit and return to their schools prepared to motivate their students and staff. At the con-ference, nab hosts its annual “nabbies” Awards banquet to honor outstanding schools and educators with a red carpet, banquet, & awards show.

We also attend all major conferences like AACs and CeA and use these instances to reach out to our member schools with meetings and forums.

one of the features of nablounge is the ability for students to send us their own photos and videos that will be upload-ed and displayed on the site. these can be anything they want them to be, like fun videos of their classmates goof-ing around. or they can be more serious; such as a success story or a lesson they learned from their nuts and bolts training.
