Hello 7F – Welcome to Friesland!

My name is Mr. Hatliff and I will be your form tutor. Your first year at Friesland will be my 20th year at Friesland, which makes me feel very old! As well as being your tutor, I also teach English across all year groups. I love reading, theatre, music, cakes and sport and I’m a Newcastle United fan (someone’s got to be!). I also like to get involved in whole school events like the school show, assemblies and trips.

You are going to love your time at Friesland! As well as learning lots of exciting new things, you will make new friends, learn new skills, go on trips and have lots of fun! Our tutor group will be fun, friendly and supportive; we will work together to be the best tutor group in Year 7. The most important thing is to always try your best and, if you do that, you will be successful.

We also have the added bonus of having Mrs Kerry as part of our tutor group. She will also be there to help support you during some of your lessons.

I’m really looking forward to meeting you in September. Have a great summer and stay safe!

Mr C Hatliff

Hello 7R, I am a busy, married, mum of two, teacher of English. My previous jobs include: waitress, plate company admin assistant and category assistant at Boots all before training and working as a teaching assistant. 4 years ago I bit the bullet and trained as a secondary English teacher and have never looked back. I love going to the theatre, reading, crafting and spending time with friends and family. I also enjoy cooking and baking and often have samples that need testing! I love being in the classroom: encouraging discussions, allowing children to express themselves and helping them unlock their potential - I see school as a journey we travel on together and am so excited to be starting a new journey at Friesland.

Hi 7I. I’ve been teaching at Friesland School for almost a year now and I love my job as an English teacher. When I’m not teaching, I enjoy reading, running and playing computer games with my husband. This year I have challenged myself to read 50 books by the end of 2020 so I encourage you to ask me in September how close I am to that goal! Some of my favourite authors include Margaret Atwood and Robin Hobbs. I also run Y7 running club with Miss Birch. I’m very much looking forward to being your form tutor next year!!

Welcome to 7E!!I hope you are as excited as I am to meet your classmates in the form group. I am also very excited to meet you and welcome you to our form. We are going to work together as a group for the next five years and I have big plans for us!We will meet each day in the morning for registration and for PSHE on a Friday. If you have any problems, I will help and we can work as a bigger team to make sure everyone in our form has a successful day, week, month, term and year at Friesland.I am relatively new to Friesland, after relocating from Hertfordshire last year, and let me assure you that it has been a fantastic start for me and such a welcoming atmosphere – I am sure that you will feel the same.

I am also a subject teacher in Science and so I might see you a little bit more if you are in one of my subject classes.I am a keen sports fan; following Derby County Football Club, Leicester Tigers Rugby and am mad for Cricket too. Alongside that I enjoy golf, comedy and travel. During Lockdown I have started cooking and doing a spot of DIY on my house!

Hello 7S! My name is Miss Beckett and you will be my 5th Friesland tutor group. I am also the Head of Music and teach all the different year groups at school. If you ever need to find me at school, I’ll be in the music room or up in the Performing Arts office drinking tea. When I’m not at school, I play in a brass band. I also enjoy yoga and walking. I’m a very good cook and make a delicious Sunday roast. However, my favourite food is cake and I look forward to sampling some of your baking from food technology.I have a big family with five nieces and nephews. I also have two cats called Barlow and Henry.

Hello 7L! I hope you are all doing well and looking forward to coming to Friesland. I have been teaching Maths at Friesland School for the past eight years and had two previous forms during this time. I can't wait to get to know you all in September. If you ever need help or assistance whilst at school, feel free to come and see me at anytime.

When I am not at school, I enjoy playing softball, going to the theatre and concerts, playing computer games and seeing friends and family. I enjoy travelling the world and try to get away when I can.

Have an excellent summer 7L and I look forward to seeing you all in a couple of months.

Hi 7N! How exciting – a fresh new beginning for all of us, me included! My old form left last after spending 5 years together and now I can’t wait to meet all of you. My name is Miss Noble and I am a teacher in the PE department. I love being a form tutor as it allows me to get to know a small group of students really well and for us to look after each other as a form family. We’ll be spending a lot of time together so it’s important that we treat each other with respect and value what each individual brings to our form! Being in the PE department, obviously I love all sport and more particularly I especially enjoy following my local football team. Which one though?!As well as sport, I enjoy cooking, listening to music and attending concerts and also learning new skills. Currently I am trying to learn French a little bit better than I speak it now (which isn’t very good).

I hope you have a really great summer and I am looking forward to getting to know you all in September.

Miss K Noble
