Welcome to the second show in our 2016/2017 KeyBank Broadway at The Paramount Season, the winner of four 2014 Tony Awards including Best Musical Revival, HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH. Described as genre bending and fourth-wall-smashing, this timeless rock music production is about finding our “other half.”

Theater, particularly among Broadway musicals like HEDWIG, continues to serve as important opportunities for people to come together in a common space and experience the creativity of story telling. The artists who tell these stories display miraculous talent in their ability to draw us in and allow us to suspend our own realities, if only for a short time. This is simply one of the many ways in which ART CONNECTS US!

Our connection to STG patrons is highly valued and recently, we celebrated with a special STG Loves You campaign. Having the opportunity to say thank you with special patron events, in theatre surprises, giveaways, artist interactions, and more, was a simple way for us to convey our gratitude for your support. These opportunities will definitely be repeated throughout future seasons.

Please enjoy your time connecting and experiencing the best of Broadway!

See you in the New Year!

WELCOME

Finding Your Nerve in Finding NeverlandBy John Moore, Senior Arts Journalist for the Denver Center for the Performing Arts

Acclaimed.Director.Diane.Paulus.was.hooked.on.Finding Neverland.by.a.line.the.nefarious.Captain.Hook.says.to.the.story’s.author.himself,.J.M..Barrie:.

“You.can.go.back.to.being.what.every-one.expects.you.to.be,”.the.iron-wristed.pirate.says..“Or.you.can.find.the.cour-age.to.write.your.own.story.”

That.taunting.dare.resonated.deeply.within.Paulus.as.a.director,.mother.and.artist..“Because.that.could.mean.liter-ally,.‘write.your.own.story,’”.she.said..“Or.it.could.mean,.‘Write.the.story.of.your.life.’”

“J.M..Barrie.was.a.visionary,”.said.Finding Neverland.co-composer.Gary.Barlow..“Even.in.1904,.his.mind.was.100.years.ahead.of.his.time.”

The.story.of.Peter Pan,.Paulus.said,.

22 SEATTLE THEATRE GROUP

The landscape across our city is rapidly changing. One day you might pass and admire a beautifully designed building, and the next day find it demolished to make room for another major hotel, luxury sky rise, or technology campus. The conditions we are experiencing today are much like those that occurred in the early '90s. That was when Ida Cole stepped up to keep The Paramount from becoming prey to a wrecking ball that would have added another parking lot to downtown. Surface parking lots have all but disappeared across the city, but our historic theatres continue to stand tall and link us to a time when art houses were a reflection of the best European craft and design to create luxurious environments for audiences.

If not for your support, our stewardship of 3 historic theatres would not be possible. As the crunch for expansion continues to occur at breakneck speed in Seattle, we are holding fast to the cultural significance each of our three theatres have as iconic, living capsules of history for artists and the public to enjoy. While the performances we host continue to evolve and offer a diverse mix of popular culture and traditional arts, our duty will continue to be that of great caretakers of The Paramount, The Moore, and The Neptune theatres, with your help and support. Thank you!
