Constructing HST units
1. Draw a diagonal line on the wrong side of 1 (3 7/8” x 3 7/8”) (A) square. Place square, right sides together, on 1 (3 7/8” x 3 7/8”) (J) square. Sew 1/4” away from, on right and left sides of drawn line. Cut along drawn line. Open and press to yield 2 HST units. 2. Use the procedure to make a total of:
54 A / J HST 34 B / J HST (will only use 33) 18 C / J HST (will only use 17)
10 D / J HST 44 E / J HST (will only use 43) 40 F / J HST (will only use 39)
32 G/ J HST (will only use 31) 14 H / J HST
Constructing Quilt Center Section 1
1. Arrange and sew together 9 HST units to make a pieced row. Make a total of 5 pieced rows and sew rows together, as shown.

2. Arrange and sew together 8 HST units and 1 (3 1/2” x 3 1/2”) J square to make a pieced row. Make a total of 5 pieced rows and sew rows together, as shown.
3. Sew 2 J half-square-triangles to the left and bottom of 1 F/J HST unit, and add the sewn unit to 1 E half-square-triangle piece cut for the quilt center star. Make (8) total.
Arrange and sew together 6 HST units and 1 (3 1/2” x 3 1/2”) J square to make a pieced row. Make a total 2 pieced rows and add to the left of the quilt center star unit.
4. Sew all the sections made in steps 1-3 to complete Section 1.
5. Use the same procedure to construct the remaining sections.

1. Sew Sections 3 and 4 to the left and right sides of 1 (12 1/2” x 12 1/2”) A square.
2. Sew Sections 1 and 2 together, and add to the top of (12 1/2” x 12 1/2”) A square.
3. Sew Sections 5 and 6 together, and add to the bottom of (12 1/2” x 12 1/2”) A square to com-plete quilt center.

Quilt Assembly:
1. Inner border. Sew 2 (3 1/2” x 60 1/2”) J strips to the opposite long sides of quilt center, followed by 2 (3 1/2” x 51 1/2”) J strips to the remaining opposite short sides of quilt center.
2. Outer border. Sew 2 (4 1/2” x 66 1/2”) G strips to the opposite long sides of quilt center, followed by 2 (4 1/2” x 59 1/2”) G strips to the remaining opposite short sides of quilt center to complete quilt top.

Finishing
1. Layer quilt top, batting and backing together.
2. Baste and quilt as desired.
3. Attach K binding to complete quilt.
