Dixie State University Taylor Auditorium
Course DirectorsRami Alharethi, MD, FACC & Alberto A. Brizolara, MD
PurposeThe purpose of this conference is to update primary-care providers and cardiologists on the latest advances in relation to the diagnosis and management of heart failure. This conference is designed to provide new and important information regarding heart failure, a rising epidemic and a significant cause of morbidity and mortality. We will emphasize the evaluation and management of acute heart failure, chronic systolic heart failure, and heart failure with preserved ejection fraction. In addition, we will address the treatment options for patients with advanced heart failure, including heart transplantation, mechanical circulatory support, and end of life.
ObjectivesUpon completion of this activity participants should be able to:• Appropriately manage and advise patients with chronic
systolic heart failure• Effectively manage patients with acute systolic heart
failure• Analyze approach for patients with heart failure with
preserved left ventricular ejection fraction• Recognize the appropriate use of device therapy in
heart failure patients• Identify patients with end-stage heart failure and know
their treatment options: heart transplantation, long-term left ventricular assist device, and end-of-life care
Target AudiencePrimary-care providers, cardiologists, advanced-practice clinicians, and registered nurses associated with cardiology, critical care, and emergency medicine
