The physicians and staff at the Esse Health

Tesson Ferry Pediatrics ofce believe that creating

a unique and personal relationship with every child

is important for developing lifelong habits of goodhealth. That relationship begins by establishing a

relationship and open lines of communication with

the parents or guardians of those children. Each

child and family has very different needs and this

requires a very specialized plan of action for each

    childs care.

In addition to personalized care, their goal is to

provide you and your family with the best possible

health care experience. From the moment you and

your child step foot inside the door you will be

welcomed as part of the Esse Health family.

The last part of the journey is the most difficult forpeople to travel. Each person depends on us to make theirremaining days as comfortable and pain-free as possible, said Murphy. The LSS Hospice Care team believes whole-heartedly in touching each life and using our expertise toallow a natural, peaceful, and dignified death. Hospice provides a compassionate alternative that canenable patients and families to remain together through

My training in Obstetrics and Gynecologyfollowed by subspecialty training in Urogynecologyhas allowed me to focus on women only from the verybeginning. Understanding the effects of childbirth onthe pelvic floor is an important part in helpingwomen with these issues.

We offer minimally invasive incontinence andprolapse procedures, sacral neuromodulation and inoffice urodynamic testing, said Dr. Khan. In fact, Dr.Khan is the only area physician performing the newrobotic da Vinci hysterectomy at the time of prolapse

Shes told them that if this is what

you love, then you can take it places

and I think sometimes kids dont real-

ize that. There are a lot of places to gowith it, and shes introducing the band

to the breadth of the eld.

Louis seems set on that career

    path.

This is what I want to do when I

    grow up, he said.

    Thats music to Luetjes ears.

Im very, very proud of the kids,

she said. Im grateful weve made this

    much progress.

But theres always more to work to-

    ward.

If all my dreams came true Id see

    some new instructors developing so

there would be lots of people who could

teach this, said Luetje, who started

giving lessons in her home becausethere wasnt anywhere in St. Louis

    that offered four-string banjo lessons.

When I started playing banjo in

the late 70s, I could go to the music

store and take lessons. You can take

bluegrass lessons in the area, but

    four-string strumming lessons are not

available in local music stores anymore

    because theres not a demand.

Luetje hopes one day there will be.

Were doing our little bit to remind

people that once upon a time music

was such a part of family life and so-

    cial entertainment everyone could

play an instrument, she said, noting

shed like to see kids text messaging

    less and playing music more.

    Dempsey believes Luetje is pursu-

    ing a great goal.

She has absolutely done wonders in

communication with the kids and get-

he said. She has that talent and shes

Since 1894, Eye Care Associates of St. Louis hasprovided patients with comprehensive, hands-on,personalized eye care. Sean Breit, M.D. specializes in

cataract surgery; Todd LaPoint, O.D. and Janae Kadlec,O.D. perform routine eye exams and are experts inspecialty contact lens fitting; Stephen Wexler, M.D. isone of the most respected LASIK specialists in thecountry. Eye Care Associates also offers an on-site, full-service optical shop with a friendly and helpful staff.

Throughout its 117-year history, the practice hasmaintained an affiliation with Washington UniversitySchool of Medicine. But, according to Dr. Wexler, thefield itself has undergone numerous changes.

In the early 1980s, ophthalmology was hospital-based; today virtually all surgery is outpatient, heexplained. And then there is LASIK surgery which hasdramatically changed the lives of millions of people.

For Wexler, the reward of ophthalmology comes frommaking a real difference in the lives of his patients andsharing in the joy they feel after a successful procedure. The evolution of the profession and the positive impactit has made has been remarkable and dramatic, hesaid.
