purchase. Joann and Charley will be happy to autograph them.

In May, we enjoyed a colorful Pier Opening with a Cinco De Mayo flair. The skies cooperated and we had 180 members in attendance.  While the recent storms and swells at the pier have caused some interruption in our water sports, we do expect to resume kayaking, paddle boarding, and sailing in earnest. Contact our Harbormasters at [email protected] or 831-625-8520, or check our website www.SYCPB.org for specifics on daily conditions, hours, and equipment.

Our Youth Water Sports Program begins July 1st. There is a host of information in this edition on sailing lessons and our Thursday Evening Adult Sailing activities. June is also the month when our famous Pier BBQ’s and sailing Regattas resume. Discover what Vice Commodore Judy Furman and her Social Committee have lined up for our summer evening events in her column titled “Upcoming Events.”  We’ve enjoyed April Bingo with a 50’s flair, and a May Disco evening with DJ Willi. June and July promise some lively dinner dances. Mark your calendars for our renowned “Humma Humma” and then it’s off to Las Vegas “Swingin' with the Rat Pack”. All of this doesn’t happen without a healthy bank of volunteers! Please contact me at [email protected] or our flag officers so we may engage you in a committee or a fun volunteer opportunity in our sailing or social programs. Smooth Sails Ahead,

1960’s where Frank, Dean and Sammy worked their magic! Enjoy The Scott Brown Band and “their” Frankie, as they set the mood with the music that this swinging trio made famous. Cocktails at The Copa, of course!

Our JULY PIER BBQ will be on Sunday July 21st from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. You can look forward to another fun summer evening ... remember to bring your Pier BBQ Set Up and Bring a Jacket, too!

We always need volunteers to help plan, decorate, check in guests ... a great way to meet people! Please contact me at [email protected]

Our 71st SYC Season has officially begun! We welcome our Harbormasters to the Stillwater Pier this year. Attention Sailors, Lapsed Sailors and Wanna Be Sailors!

Who Is Cynthia And Where Did She Go?If you answer this question correctly you will win a prize!

Hint: She graced Pebble Beach golf course in 1938. She could knock the ball into a cup with relative ease and was “a tease” to many a struggling golfer because if Cynthia could score.. perhaps YOU could too!   She was invited to PB by none other than SFB Morse himself. And then..... she VANISHED!   Can you tell us more?   Submit your answers and stories to The Cove’er Editor, Jeryl Abelmann at [email protected], by July 15th.

Answer to run in the August Edition of The Cove’er.

What’s That Roar?Periodically the Beach Club Pier and parking lot are abuzz with fire engines. Fire Engine #22 from Pebble Beach has received special designation as a First Responder for Emergencies at Stillwater Pier. You will see Fire Departments from other areas in CA visiting for training, wave runner safety drills, and you will notice a new, specialized floating dock which houses their safety equipment. We are happy to share Stillwater Pier with them to make our waters safer. Reminder, Wave Runners are not permitted in the Cove excluding these specialty training Fire Department drills.

Burgee Exchange

SYC Member Sharene Hamrock exchanges burgees with Commodore Tony Toller at Yacht Club Society Nautique de Saint Tropez.

On the Lookout!

Just as Paul Whitman was on the lookout for the winners of a 1949 Regatta, we’re on the lookout for family stories and photos of Stillwater Yacht Club’s history. Send your stories and photos to our Editor by July 15th. We also need reporters and contributors to join our fabulous Cove’er Team. If you would like to join our team please email Jeryl at [email protected]. Thank you to our amazing historian/reporter Megan Mayer and Contributor Baker Charbonnet. A special thanks to our incredible Formatter-In-Chief Jen White.

Ceci Brown and Moya Hesselbein joined us for Bebop Bingo in April. Did they win? Doesn’t matter! The true winner was the Youth Sailing Program as the beneficiary of the proceeds from the evening.

Kudos to Staff Commodore Dixie Smith and Vice Commodore Judy Furman who planned a successful Bingo evening. Special thanks to Monterey Touring Vehicles (831-337-8800) for the loan of this classic car!

Recap from Bebop Bingo!
