Please remember to keep your face mask on during Mass, removing it briefly as you approach
for Communion. This will help our neighbors feel safe in coming to Church and receiving Our
Lord. Thank you! — Fr. Bancroft

FOOD COLLECTION Next Sunday we will be collecting food here at St. Joseph’s for the food pantry in Immaculate Conception Church, Amenia. Please leave food on our Rectory porch. The food pantry in Amenia is open on the third Saturday of the month from 9:45am to 11am.
UNCLE AL’S THRIFT SHOP
Uncle Al’s just happens to be one of the busiest places in Millbrook! Why is that? Well, there is some great stuff
there… Did you know that the shop currently has record albums? You know, those vinyl discs with the good music
that some of us loved. And it’s not just the seniors who appreciate the singers and bands from years back. Last
week, a fairly young guy spent a considerable amount of time kneeling on the floor, going through all the albums.
Then he bought eleven! But, there is much more at Uncle Al’s — some lovely sets of china, lamps of many
different sizes, jewelry, housewares, linens and of course, clothing. Really, there’s something for every taste and
pocketbook — just put on your mask and come on in! (limit of 5 customers at a time)
Our focus now is the upcoming COAT SALE & More! This one will knock your socks off! Many items already sorted
and marked, and there’s room for lots more. St. Joseph School gym will have a wonderful array of coats,
sweaters, shoes & boots, suits & sport coats, handbags and accessories. Fall /winter items to donate for the sale
can be left at Uncle Al’s during shop hours. AND, many additional volunteers, men and women, will be needed to
assist setting up (Wed., Oct. 7), as sales staff (Oct. 8, 9, 10), breaking down and packing items for storage (Sun.,
Oct. 11). Contact Edye MacDonald at 914-474-0717 or Irene Wing at 677-3310.
All proceeds benefit St. Joseph-Immaculate Conception Church.

Month of the Sorrowful Mother
Dear friends in the Lord:
The COVID-19 pandemic concerned many countries and in several of them, preventive measures
precluded the normal community celebration of Holy Week. The Christian communities in the Holy Land,
also exposed to the risk of contagion and living in contexts already full of serious sufferings, benefit
every year from the generosity of the faithful from all over the world. This solidarity enables them to
continue their evangelical presence, in addition to maintaining schools and charitable structures that
assist all citizens with healthcare, education and peaceful coexistence, attending above all to the
weakest and poorest.
For this reason, Pope Francis has approved the proposal that the Pontifical Good Friday Collection for
the Holy Land, for the year 2020, take place on Sunday, September 13, near the feast of the Exaltation of
the Holy Cross.
The celebration that commemorates the discovery of the Relics of the Cross by St. Helena also marks a
new beginning of public worship in Jerusalem, with the construction of the Basilica of the Holy
Sepulchre. May it be a sign of hope and salvation after the passion to which many peoples are now
associated, as well as solidarity with those who continue to live the Gospel of Jesus on the Land where
“it all began”.
This offering allows God’s people to inhabit the Holy Places and in so doing bear witness to the
Resurrection of Christ. Your support helps the Franciscan friars to preserve the sacred shrines. I am
asking you once again to be as generous as your means allow.
With prayerful best wishes, I am,
Devotedly yours in Christ,
+Timothy Michael Cardinal Dolan
Archbishop of New York
