Happy and SadA True Story

In February I figured out that Mommy was having a baby. Wewere at the dinner table. I was very excited.

My little sister Anna’s birthday was between my sister Rachel’sbirthday on September 9th and my Aunt Pam’s birthday onSeptember 12th.

We went to bed one night and I didn’t realize that Mommy wentto the hospital that night and Angela came to baby-sit us.

Early next morning Dad came in to tell us that we had a new babysister. We went to the hospital and I looked through thewindows of the room that has the babies. We went through thehallway looking for the room and I saw my baby sister Anna forthe first time.

I was so excited that I was jumping up and down. I thought shewas really cute and I wanted to hold her right away. I sat in thebed with Mommy and held her for the first time and so didRachel. Even my little brother Daniel who was two years old gotto hold Anna too.

While we were in bed with Mommy we saw the terrorist planesknocking down the twin towers because Anna was born onSeptember 11th. Mom and Dad were really surprised about theday that Anna was born. Mom and Dad said it was really sad thatall those people were dying on the day that Anna was born. Icouldn’t decide if I should be happy or sad. I was happy that Ihad a cute baby sister and I was sad that people were dying. Iguess I felt medium.

Then I went to school. It was so late I missed the Centers and itwas already time for Show and Tell. Miss Asplin said that I couldshare my news even though it wasn’t my Show and Tell day. Itold my class that Anna was born and they were all surprised. Iwas glad that I could cheer them up from hearing about theterrorists. Now they were feeling a little happy and sad like me.

I think people will talk about that day a lot. I think God madeAnna very special to be born on a famous day. I am glad becauseI get to always have some happiness about the day my sister wasborn.
