The origin of HALLOWEEN.

Halloween is the modern name of All Hallows „Even (or All Hallows „Eve), that in Spanish means “La víspera de todos los santos”. The first time that the word “Halloween” was pronunced is in the nineteenth century. It has a Celtic origin, but it was called “Samhain”, that means in old Irish “end of summer”. The britains had another similar special day called Calan Gaeaf. The difference is this: Samhain was considerated the end of year.

A bit of modern history. The tradition of

Halloweenarrived to theUSA in 1840. In this country it isgoing to be verypopular. Theyinvented a thingcalled “Jack-’o-lantern”, a pumpkin with a wax lantern.

Trick or treat is the Halloween’s joke for

excelence in America, Australia and

Europe. The trick or treat consists in a

joke should not receive candy.

American children.

Like the legend says, Jack was a verystingy and exploited person. He escape to the Devil in three times getting lasttime a treat with the Devil according: “You’ll never disturb me and I’ll neverdisturb you”. When the hour of Jack arrived, he was judged, expelled fromheaven and punished to hell. In thehell, he was expelled anothertime, because the treat with the Devil isduring forever. Now, the children makejack-’o-lanterns because, in case thatno recive candy, children invoke Jack for spend a terrible joke to the personwho don´t give candy.

In my opinion… I think Halloween is a

good entertainment forall people. Honestly, I like Halloween because I love this party-days. Thetheme of monsters, ghosts, witches, magicians and spectrumsis the icing of the cake for days like this. In my opinion, this partymustn’t disappear. It’s so exciting that it should lastforever!
