CeloxTM

Haemostats are dressings to control major haemorrhage including life-threatening bleeding from

arterial injuries. They are simple and effective, stopping major bleeding with three minutes of compression.

The technology used has been the same since first launched in 2006 and is safe in use with no heat generated.

Celox is adopted as standard by emergency services and military Medical Corps, with remarkable published

results from the battlefield and in emergency medicine.

The product is available in a range of formats for different uses.

Celox treats severe and life-threatening bleeding in many settings. As well as being used by civilian paramedics, it is used by the military and tactical units, law enforcement, in

the workplace or remote locations and humanitarian relief. We also provide products for veterinary animal health.

Who Uses Celox

Celox Hemostat for traumatic bleeding

The haemostat for severe bleeding injuries. Effective on a range of clotting abnormalities. Proven in field use. You never know what you’ll be up against next. Car crashes, assaults on your colleagues, injuries from falls or

disputes that end badly.

You’re the common thread to these emergencies and it’s your job to save lives. Celox was originally used to save lives on the battlefield by stopping the most catastrophic bleeding in minutes and is now carried by a wide range of emergency services. Its haemostatic technology works independently of blood clotting factors, this means that even if the patient is on blood thinners, or has lost a lot of blood, the blood will clot with Celox.

Make sure you have the best technology there is for controlling arterial bleeding. Paramedic, police officer

or fire-fighter, you’ll be better equipped with Celox wherever you go.

Use on: Arterial and venous bleeding.

Life-threatening bleeding.

Complex and deep wounds.

Celox has been shown to: Save lives.

Reliably stop arterial bleeding

Clot hypothermic blood.

Safety:

Celox has been extensively safety tested, produces no heat and is non-allergenic.

The product contains no minerals and residual chitosan material breaks down in the body,

making Celox the safe, proven choice.

The Celox granules mould to the shape of the wound to get firm pressure on to the source of the bleeding

even in complex shaped injuries.

Celox granules are available in a 35g sachet for major injuries, even if the casualty has more than one bleeding wound. We also offer the 15 g sachet for situations where every gram of weight saved is vital, still with enough material to treat a life-threatening injury

Celox Gauze is the most effective haemostatic gauze for emergency bleeding control!

Celox Gauze is a high density gauze, impregnated with the proven Celox granules, individually sterile packed in a ruggedized pouch with tear notches for fast opening. It is available in a 1.5 m, z-folded pack for a compact product for individual first aid kits and 3 m roll, ideal for the medic or vehicle kit.

Celox Gauze is the treatment for life-threatening bleeding. It uses the proven Celox granules laminated on to a dense

gauze, so it is quickly and easily packed into bleeding wounds. The gauze is especially useful in challenging conditions,

in wind, rain or poor visibility. In the recent comparative study sponsored by the US military, Celox Gauze had the least overall blood loss, the highest survival and the highest overall haemostasis of all products

Chito-SAM™ 100 is a high performance 100% pure chitosan hemostatic dressing designed to stop lethal bleeding fast. It is easy to use, extremely effective, and safe. It is a CE Marked Class III Medical Device. Chito-SAM™ 100 works

independently of the body’s normal clotting processes. Unlike most hemostatic dressings that are impregnated with or coated with chitosan, Chito- SAM™ 100 is made of non-woven, 100% chitosan.

ABOUT CHITOSAN Chitosan is a unique hemostatic material that produces localized clotting. It is not a procoagulant that engages or stimulates the normal clotting cascade. This minimizes the risk of an embolism. In addition chitosan has proven antimicrobial properties. It is broken down and absorbed through normal metabolic pathways. Chitosan has an extensive history of use in vascular closure and in human cardiac surgery. In an independent test, Chito-SAM™ 100 performed 25% better than a leading Chitosan gauze.

Can Chito-SAM 100 be removed easily?

Yes. Chito-SAM 100 should be left in the wound until the patient is seen by medical personnel. It can be removed by unpacking by hand and then irrigating the wound with water or saline solution.

Can Chito-SAM 100 be used for burns?

Yes. Chito-SAM 100 can be used to treat burns. When used after cleaning/preparing the burned area it can be applied as a dry dressing.

Stopping a bleeding wound is as easy as 1, 2, 3.

WoundSeal is for use on external wounds only and, in order to work, the powder needs blood present to create an instant scab.

1. TEAR open the package at the perforation.

2. POUR the powder onto the wound to completely cover it.

3. PRESS for 30 seconds to form the protective scab and stop the bleeding.

Will WoundSeal Powder work with people who bleed easily? Yes. WoundSeal Powder does not depend on the blood’s natural clotting mechanisms to be effective, so it will work on people who bleed easily

How large of a wound can I treat? Generally, one application of WoundSeal Powder should be enough to cover a 2 inch laceration; however, if the blood flow is significant, an additional application may be needed.

Should I wash the WoundSeal Powder off after the blood flow has stopped? No, it is important to keep the protective scab clean and dry until it has hardened (usually in one to two hours). Once the seal/scab has hardened, the treated area can get wet or submerged in water (i.e., showering or swimming.)

Does WoundSeal have a shelf life? WoundSeal has a shelf life of 2 1/2 years from the date of packaging. The expiration date is listed on each unit/package

Do I need to cover my wound to protect it? You can cover the wound if desired, but the scab will allow nothing into the wound, including germs and dirt.

WoundSeal Powder from QR is composed of a non-toxic mixture that, once applied to the wound, adheres to the wound tissue, absorbing and interacting with its fluids to form a Hematrix scab. This unique cover stops the bleeding, protects the wound, and allows the body's own mechanism to begin healing.

What is the Powder and how does it work? The short version: Powder + Pressure = Instant Scab A further explanation: WoundSeal/BioSeal powder is composed of a hydrophilic, or water-loving, polymer and potassium ferrate. When the powder is poured onto a bleeding wound, the hydrophilic polymer instantly dehydrates the blood by absorbing only the plasma or liquid portion of the blood stacking the blood solids beneath the powder. Simultaneously the potassium ferrate dissolves, releasing iron that agglomerates (binds together) the blood solids to create an occlusive seal. As manual pressure is applied to the powder, the seal is pushed into contact with the wound. The natural glue-like nature of drying blood adheres the seal to the wound and surrounding skin. The occlusive seal, that has formed in seconds, stops further bleeding or oozing. Blood solids continue to stack beneath the seal, strengthening it. The natural clotting process proceeds below the seal.
