Guidance to Parents / Cadets sewing badges to Royal Navy Number 1 Best Rig

There are 6 types of badges that are to be placed in different positions, this document will show you where they are to be sewn.

Specialisation Badges look like the following: These badges should be sewn on the right arm as per the diagram above. BLACK THREAD to be used when sewing and be care-ful not to sew the sleeve together. Ensure the badge is straight by putting the jacket on and asking someone to pin it on to the first layer of ma-terial, be careful not to sew into the silk inners.

Waterborne Proficiencies Badges look like the following: These badges should be sewn on the left arm as per the diagram above. BLACK THREAD to be used when sewing and be careful not to sew the sleeve together. Ensure the badge is straight by putting the jacket on and asking someone to pin it on to the first layer of material, be careful not to sew into the silk inners.

Stars signify seniority, wreaths out rank stars and crowns outrank wreaths. The senior badge goes at the top like the diagram to the right.
