An additional (maximum one A4 page) statement detailing: (1) your service history as a Cadet, including unit appointments held and participation in Cadet promotion courses, ATA, annual camps and other major activities; (2) summary of your service in the AAC and/or other youth development organisations (if applicable); (3) summary of other experience, education and/or training that you believe would be applicable to this appointment; and (4) maximum one paragraph outlining your reasons why you believe yourself to be suitable for this appointment. 5. Supporting documents such as certificates, course reports, references, etc are not required at this time and are not to be sent with the application. 6. Applications are to be sent ONLY in electronic format (using PDF / Word 2003+) by email to the ASSTCOMD, LTCOL (AAC) T. Matthews at [email protected] 7. 8. Selected applicants will be expected to participate in a selection panel (date/time to be advised). Note: not all applicants may be asked to attend an interview. 9. The interview panel will comprise ASSTCOMD, SO2 PERS, SO2 TRG and Bde RSM. The current RCUO will act as Secretary to the Board and will observe proceedings. 10. The appointment period that will be offered to the new appointee is from Wed, 25 Apr 18 until Sun, 07 Jul 19. 11. Enquiries are to be directed to the ASSTCOMD.

Position Title: Regional Cadet Under Officer Notional Duty Location: Perth, WA Abbreviated Title: RCUO AAC Rank: CUO Immediate Supervisor: Assistant Commander WA AAC BDE Subordinates Reporting To This Position: REGCDTRSM Duty Type: Cadet Security Clearance Required: Nil Working With Children Check Required: Required if over 18 Date of Duty Statement: 13 Mar 18 Purpose of Position The RCUO is to fulfil the traditional role of an Adjutant for the ASSTCOMD and to 'shadow' the SO2 TRG - WA AAC BDE. The RCUO is to work with the REGCDTRSM in representing the interests of all Cadets and advising the Regional COMD on cadet matters. Duties To perform any of the following duties as directed by COMD WA AAC BDE and/or ASSTCOMD WA AAC BDE:

a. Provide a point of reference for all Cadet matters relating to training and personnel by working closely with the SO2 TRG and SO2 PERS - WA AAC BDE;

b. Plan and organise regional activities as appropriate;

c. Provide advice to the COMD and ASSTCOMD on Cadet matters, both in general and arising from the Regional Cadet Advisory Council (REGCAC);

d. Plan and conduct meetings of the REGCAC;

e. Accompany the COMD and/or ASSTCOMD or other designated HQ WA AAC BDE personnel on visits;

f. Have active involvement in major ceremonial occasions and Cadet leadership courses, as appropriate;

g. Liaison with AAC Battalion CUOs / Unit CUOs;

h. Represent the AAC at Regional Tri-Service Conferences and on other occasions as required;

i. Liaison with senior Australian Navy Cadets and Australian Air Force Cadets on a regular basis;

j. Contribute toward the WA AAC BDE newsletter; and

k. Perform other such duties as directed by the COMD/ASSTCOMD. Selection Criteria 1. Mandatory Criteria

a. have held the rank of CUO for at least twelve (12) months prior to appointment;

b. have the written approval and endorsement of their Unit COMD;

c. be in a position to make contact with and have insight into the Cadet community in general, including regular and reliable email contact;

d. have demonstrated an interest in the development of the AAC, specifically through an active involvement in past Cadet Advisory Councils;

e. be able to commit the necessary time to the position;

f. provide a written application;

g. be prepared to attend an interview; and

h. be available for the full term of the appointment.

2. Desired Characteristics

a. Demonstrated background, experience and knowledge of AAC and youth/community service organisations. A detailed understanding of issues considered important to Cadets and impacting on Cadets;

b. An understanding of the Defence Force Cadets organisation and the AAC. A broad understanding of general community issues affecting youth and which may affect the current and future development of the AAC;

c. Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to lead, contribute to the development of and represent the interests of Cadets;

d. Effective communication and interpersonal skills;

e. Demonstrated ability to utilise computer based information management systems;

f. Demonstrate an ability to complete required tasks using electronic communications systems in lieu of attendance at the notional work location;

g. Able to work under limited direction and supervision. Effective time management skills and the ability to assess work priorities and to set and adhere to deadlines with minimum supervision; and

h. Be motivated, committed and proactive.
