Land Rover bids farewell to the popular DefendLAND Rover has b eg unplucking at the heartstringsof Defender fans all over theworld by unveiling three spe-cial end-of-the-line models atthe Geneva Motor Show.

This year is the Defender’sfinal year in production be-fore emissions rules force itsdemise. To celebrate, LandRover has created Heritage,Adventure and Autobiogra-phy editions that will be vir-tually guaranteed future clas-

sic status.All three are powered by

the familiar 2.2-litre dieselengine, with derivatives of ithaving seenservice in numer-ous models from several man-ufacturers over the years.

The Heritage Edition harksback to early Land Roverswith Grasmere Green paintand a white roof. ‘HUE 166’graphics recall the registra-tion number of the very firstpre-production Land Rover

that now resides in the Her-itage Motor Museum in Gay-don.

Only 400 will be sold in theUK, priced from £27,800.

A totalof 600 Adventure Edi-tion models will be built forthe UK. Built to go anywhereand do anything, it wears off-road tyres and extra under-bodyprotection.Inside thingsare not so rugged thanks toleather upholstery, and allchassis lengths will share the

same price of £43,495.Big spenders might want

to look at the Autobiogra-phy Edition, which blendsadditional performance andluxury with a two-tone paint job. Full ‘Windsor’ leatherupholstery, a power upgradefrom 120bhp to 148bhp and ahealthy shot of exclusivityare on its side: just 80 will seedaylight in the UK, and onlyas a 90 Station Wagon.

The price is £61,845.
