Pastor’s page If a person only ate at fast-food restaurants, they would survive but they would not necessarily be healthy. In fact, your heart might be weakened and you may feel sluggish and be

a little poor in complexion. So many of us have researched this and I’m sure you’ll agree that

although fast food is fun sometimes, it is not wise for a regular eating plan.

Now I’ve heard people say “if you can’t say what you need to say in 15 minutes, you’re not

going to get it across in more time than that you might as well give up if you can’t do it in 15 minutes.” How foolish! It’s like saying at a five star restaurant, “If you can’t feed me in 15

minutes you might as well not try.”

Who would give up free gourmet for fast food? O.K. maybe some would but it wouldn’t be

wise. But yet some people have just that attitude about worship or devotions. We even show

up at the “gourmet restaurant” called church and are impatient to grab an appetizer and run out on empty again to infect ourselves with the addictions of this world that kill the appetite

and the attention span all the more so next week we might not even have time for the appetizer.

When Jesus was talking to the woman at the well in John 4, he offered her the fulfillment of

living water. We have such a sustained refreshment in God by His gracious Spirit. He was

offering her such blessing! He, I think, was having a wonderful time getting her to the heart of the matter and bringing her to Himself. Now when His disciples came to him, they urged Him

to eat something. But the Bible says that He said to them “I have food to eat that you know

nothing about.” They didn’t understand so He explained to them how His food was to do the work of Him who sent Him and to finish it. Jesus took time and was refreshed Himself by

doing His Father’s work and doing it completely and right. Good food and good eating and

good digestion can not be rushed. Resolve this year to truly wait upon the LORD to renew your strength. Resolve to read the whole chapter of the single line you saw in your devotional.

Resolve to let other things wait while you wait on the LORD. If the Baseball game goes into

extra innings, if the board meeting goes long, if the surgery has a complication you adjust your schedule to get it done right. This year get your insides right and stop the sluggish quick fix of

fast food. Fast food is not a great fix in the long run. It’s better to learn to be still so you can

really get to know Him who is God. Yes know He is God. He deserves your time.

Blessings in Jesus,

Pastor Stacy

We are short on ushers this year so we will be running five ushers the first Sunday because of communion. The rest of the month (in most cases) there will only be two ushers. The Sunday’s there are only two ushers you will use the middle aisle to pass the collection plate. The collection plate should be passed the whole way through the pew & come back to you in the next pew to start over again.

This month at First Church we are raising the awareness of life, especially children and the parenting and teaching

of them. As Christians, we are called to live according to the gospel of Jesus Christ. This biblical mandate—includes

being engaged with the ministry of children and youth. This month we are supporting the rights of the unborn,

educating ourselves in the field of child abuse prevention, and encouraging the teachers and parents of our children:

our present and our future. Children are full participants in the life of the church and in the Kingdom of God, and we

are celebrating this month.

Pray for our children. Together let’s pray Scripture, EVERYDAY! Be invested!

Remember the unborn. One report shows half of pregnancies

among American women are unintended, and about four in 10 of these end

in abortion.
