We have had a very positive start to the year, with 2013 proving to be another period of major success for Kentz certainly a milestone in our growth strategy. Safety continues to play an enormous part in our business and it was very pleasing to see a further improvement of 26% in the Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR) to 0.14 for last year, our lowest rate since 2008. You can read about some of our recent safety achievements on pages 20 and 21.

In January, Kentz completed the acquisition of Valerus Field Solutions LP (Valerus), a worldwide leader in integrated oil and gas surface facility solutions. We have already seen positive news from our new colleagues in Valerus and look forward to the future of the combined entity and the opportunities it offers. You can

read about Valerus on pages 4 and 5 and about its recent US$62m project award with Crestwood Midstream Partners on page 15.

We currently have a record backlog of over US$4bn, including the backlog from Valerus. Our pipeline of prospects is continuing to grow and increased by 18% during 2013, highlighting the opportunities that exist for our services. You can read about some of our most recent project awards throughout this edition. Of particular note is the award to the UGL Kentz JV for the structural, mechanical and piping (SMP) construction package for the Ichthys Project Onshore LNG Facilities in Darwin, Australia (pages 6 and 7). We have been working on the Ichthys project since 2012 you will see updates from the TEL-2 team on page 11 and from the team managing our scope for the installation of the underground

cabling and interface management of associated civil works on page 24.

Another recent noteworthy award was Phase 2 of the Moatize Coal Mining Project by multinational mining and metals corporation Vale in Tete Province, Mozambique (page 9). This follows the success Kentz has had on phase 1 of this flagship project originally awarded in 2009, and we look forward to continuing our successful relationship with Vale. This edition also shares a number of project awards and progress updates from the Middle East and Canada.

We have made steady progress on the 2013 and Beyond strategy, launched over a year ago. With our continued success and expected scale of growth, we decided that some changes in our global business unit structure would be beneficial. While all existing services will remain in place, they will be strengthened through a realignment within the current business units. You can read about this on pages 16 and 17. These changes were fuelled by the need to optimise the global delivery of services to our clients and to continue to enhance robust employment opportunities for our employees.

You will see on page 27 that a number of our senior

management will be hosting a Kentz stand at the 2014 World Petroleum Conference (WPC), taking place in Moscow, Russia from 15th to 19th June. We would like to extend an invitation to all our valued clients in attendance to visit our stand and meet the senior management team over the course of the event.

Finally, I am proud to confirm that through the generous donations from our employees around the globe and Kentz matched funding, we have raised a total of US$300,000 to donate to the relief efforts in the Philippines following the devastation caused by Typhoon Haiyan in November of last year. With over 3,500 Filipinos among our workforce we were eager to show our support as a Company. I am pleased to confirm that Kentz has selected international humanitarian agency GOAL to invest the funds raised. Kentzs donation will be used to support a School Rehabilitation Programme in the Jaro Municipality on Leyte Island in the Philippines; you can read more about this on page 29.

2014 promises to be another action-packed year for Kentz and I look forward to updating you again in our August edition.

    + Kentz+ Kentz

In January 2014, Kentz completed the acquisition of Valerus Field Solutions LP (Valerus), a worldwide leader in integrated oil and gas surface facility solutions. Founded in 2002, Valerus provides a full suite of products and services from the wellhead to the pipeline as well as an integrated services capability. Focusing on early production systems and gas processing projects, Valerus provides front-end, conceptual design, procurement, project and construction management services.

As outlined in the 2013 and Beyond strategy, one of Kentzs main areas of focus is to achieve future growth through building its global oil and gas engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) capabilities. The Valerus acquisition helps to establish Kentz as a recognised market leader in providing highly skilled process engineering, EPC and EPC Management (EPCM) services for small and mid-sized oil and gas processing facilities worldwide.

Valerus is a major player in the US (US activity constitutes 60% of revenue) and has a strong diversified client base of midstream companies, major oil companies, along with local and national oil companies. The acquisition has brought approximately 700 additional people to Kentz, including almost 200 personnel with demonstrable experience in gas handling and processing. Valerus will sit within Kentzs Engineering and Projects business unit, under the

leadership of Tush Doshi. It is expected to continue to operate on a standalone basis for the first two years, and the Valerus brand name will be retained.

Christian Brown, Chief Executive Officer at Kentz, commented: We are delighted to welcome the Valerus team into the Kentz family. Valerus shares parallel values, including a focus on safety and teamwork and this will ensure a strong cultural fit between our organisations. Not only does this acquisition add capabilities to both organisations, it also opens up new regions where we can leverage each others respective presence and relationships. We look forward to getting to know our new Valerus colleagues better over the coming months and to the exciting prospects that lie ahead for us all.

Steve Gill, Chief Executive Officer at Valerus, added: Since it was founded, Valerus has focused on delivering tailored solutions and the best service to our customers. Becoming part of Kentz will enable us to focus on these values more than ever before and to execute our vision to be the best oil and gas handling and processing provider through an extraordinary focus on performance, efficiency and safety. I am excited about the opportunities that the future holds for our team and look forward to building new relationships with the Kentz team.

Key benefits from the acquisition of Valerus are: Addition of personnel with

Kentz is proud to celebrate the successful completion of the Scatec Solar Kalkbult project in South Africa. The Kalkbult project in the Northern Cape, which included the construction of a 75MW photovoltaic (PV) power plant, was completed three months ahead of schedule in September 2013. It was the first renewable energy project awarded in round one of the South African Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Procurement (REIPPP) programme to be connected to the grid. It will supply 135m kW hours per year enough to cover the electricity demand of 33,000 households.

Kentz merged with a local business to form an independent recruitment company called Sizulunto Staffing Solutions. More than 500 employees were trained in technical skills, such as cable

laying, building the substructure and fitting the PV modules. Those who showed significant potential were identified for further training at the Kentz training facility in Johannesburg, where they will over time receive skill certification. They will then become part of the Kentz team to work on other projects. Overall, 67% of the employees were drawn from local communities while 100% of the project workforce was South African.

In addition, Kentzs investment in training and health and safety a core value for Kentz and its partners on the project resulted in the successful completion of 750,000 man-hours without a Lost Time Injury (LTI). This contributed to the overall efficiency of delivery on the project.

Paul Rebelo, Regional Engineering and Projects

Director, Africa, commented: One of the main success factors was our meticulous approach towards high quality workmanship and a constant pursuit for zero defects. This practice was established from inception and maintained throughout the duration of the project.

In late 2012, Kentz was awarded a sub-EPC contract by Scatec Solar, the project owner, developer and main EPC contractor of the Kalkbult Solar PV Project. Construction started in December of that year. Working closely with Scatec Solar and the Kentz-appointed sub-contractors, the Kentz project management team sought to develop a working relationship based on trust, which would ensure the full commitment of all stakeholders to the successful delivery of the project, safely, on-time and within budget.

Kentz realigns its Global Business Units

Another busy, successful and eventful year for Kentz, 2013 was a milestone in the Companys growth strategy.

The pipeline of prospects grew by 18% and we have a record backlog of over US$4bn, including the backlog from newly-acquired Valerus Field Solutions.

Following the implementation of the six strategic initiatives identified in 2012, including the Valerus acquisition, the Group has now fine-tuned the structure of its global business units. This realignment brings operational benefits in servicing clients such as access to wider resource pools with shared skills and builds critical mass in core areas. Existing services to clients will be strengthened.

    Engineering and Projects

The EPC Business Unit is being renamed Engineering and Projects to accurately reflect the high, value-added professional services that the business unit executes. The business unit will be led by Tush Doshi as Group President, Engineering and Projects Business Unit. It will incorporate: Continued offering of EPC

and EPCM services Valerus operations in

its entirety Global Engineering Services Project Management

    Consultancy services

Construction and Technical Support Services (TSS)

Construction and TSS will remain as separate business units. However, the resources, leadership and support will be consolidated to maximise operating efficiency and business-winning opportunity and to be consistent with the demands of our clients. Michael Murphy has been appointed Group President, Construction and TSS Business Units. These two units will incorporate: Construction; Structural,

Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation and Piping (SMEIP)

    Remote Construction Services

    Completions and Commissioning

Shutdowns and Turnarounds General Support Services

For the purposes of financial reporting in 2014, Kentz will report through the three business units, Engineering and Projects, Construction and TSS. Financial reporting for 2013 will be consistent with the historical approach of EPC, Construction and TSS.

Eoin Hurley, Chief Operating Officer of the Construction Business Unit since 2009, is retiring from his full-time role in Kentz after 27 years of service. In view of his value to Kentz, he will remain working on a part-time basis for the coming year.

Christian Brown, Chief Executive Officer of Kentz, commented: Given the successful growth Kentz has delivered in the past years, the recent acquisition of Valerus, and the growth plans we have for the future, we have reviewed how we offer our services to clients and moved to ensure we provide a clear and simple channel for attaining what are complex and valuable services.

The Board believes the realignment of some of our services provides a clearer structure and allows the Engineering and Projects Business Unit to achieve a level of scale that will enable its full growth potential and help market positioning with new and existing clients. We have already seen considerable success in securing engineering contract awards since the first phases of implementing

our strategic initiatives and focus continues on this as a key area of future growth for Kentz.

Following successful work carried out in South Korea, Russell Stephenson, Commissioning Manager for Kentz, has brought his team to Qatar for the hook-up and commissioning of four offshore platform topside modules as part of the Barzan Gas Project with RasGas.

The four modules (including three wellhead platforms and an additional living quarters module, collectively weighing 9,500 tonnes) were transported some 6,000 nautical miles on a 20-day journey, from Ulsan in South Korea to Qatars North Field on board a heavy lift transport vessel 43 metres

in width and more than 180 metres in length. Seaway Heavy Lifting subcontractor to Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) safely and successfully installed the modules, using its 5,000-tonne heavy lift crane vessel, the Oleg Strashnov.

Kentzs Technical Support Services team originally based in Ulsan, has increased in size from seven to 22 supervisors, with an additional commissioning manager facilitating shift work and offshore rotation of supervisors. Discipline technician numbers remain unchanged at 55, with most having transferred from South Korea.

In addition to the commissioning team, Kentz has also supplied HHI with over 100 artisans to assist in the mechanical completion activities. This includes pipe fitters, structural fitters, welders, riggers and electricians, along with electrical and instrumentation (E&I) technicians. The Kentz team is responsible for the control and issuance of all work permits covering the hook-up and commissioning activities.

RasGas was appointed by shareholders QP and ExxonMobil to manage the Barzan Gas Project. When the two trains are in operation, they are expected to supply approximately 1.4 billion

standard cubic feet of gas per day (bscfd). As Qatar anticipates an increased demand for energy to fuel infrastructure projects over the next decade, the Barzan Gas Project has monumental significance for the countrys sustainable growth. Intended to fuel the countrys planned megaprojects, the Barzan gas-processing trains will make RasGas one of the largest single gas processors in the world.

Over the past couple of months, Kentzs project teams in Qatar have accomplished and been recognised for a number of safety achievements across the region.

In 2013, Kentz in Qatar reached seven million man-hours without a single Lost Time Injury (LTI) and with a Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR) of just 0.03.

To date, the SIDRA Medical Research Centre Project has achieved 14 million man-hours Lost Time Injury (LTI) free, the Jetty Boil-Off Gas Recovery (JBOG) Project has achieved three million man-hours LTI free, and the RasGas GES Project has completed 100,000 engineering man-hours LTI and incident and injury free, with no violation of RasGas safety rules and permits to work.

    GRVE Project

Following Kentzs award in 2013 by Qatar Shell GTL Ltd for EPCM services on the Glass Reinforced Vinyl Ester (GRVE) Integrity Improvement Programme, a Team Building and Progress Update Event was hosted by Shell in the Diplomatic Club in Doha.

The GRVE project on the Pearl Gas-to-Liquids (GTL) plant in Ras Laffan will run for three years until September 2016 and consists of piping upgrades on both the Feed Gas Processing Unit (FGP), sour water service and the utility acid hydrochloride and hypochlorite system.

During a presentation at the event, Qatar Shell GTL Ltd awarded certificates of recognition for Pride in

Production to five Kentz Engineering and Project personnel, namely Frederick Tamayo, Dinesh Bhurke, Vaibhav Badave, Saravanan Selvam and Sunil Kumar Thankappan for their performance and dedication to the project.

As with all projects, safety is paramount and all safety precautions, including the requirement to wear chemical suits in certain areas of the plant, were highlighted during the presentation.

The highly informative day ended with a barbeque on the beach of the Diplomatic Hotel with Shell senior management attending the function.

Alan Deighton, Senior Project Manager who presented at the event supported by his discipline

managers, thanked all his GRVE team for their excellent work and achievements so far on this difficult and challenging project and also thanked Shell for arranging the event.

    JBOG Project

The completion of three million man-hours without a LTI on the JBOG Project in Qatar underscores Kentz Managements commitment to providing consistent leadership and safe working environments, whilst supporting the JBOG Project in continuing to be one of the safest construction projects in Qatar and Ras Laffan Industrial City (RLIC).

The JBOG Project received permanent 132kV power from the Kahramaa regional electricity network for the first

time following the safe and successful energisation of the 132kV circuits and the main 100MVA transformers from the Kahramaa Sub-Station (SS) in late 2013. Since then, the main transformers have been successfully soaked and de-energised from the JBOG SS. This is a major milestone for Kentz and the project overall.

The JBOG Project 132kV SS is the first SS of its type to be built within Qatargas and marked the culmination of two and a half years work to bring 132kV power from Kahramaa SS inside RLIC to Ras Laffan Port and the JBOG Project Site. Permanent energisation of JBOG 132kV SS means the project site has permanent power available to bring on-line the 33kV and low voltage systems, which allows for further commissioning and start-up of associated plants and

equipment. This major milestone was achieved by the joint project teams truly embracing the project motto of One Team, One Goal.

Senior Projects Director and Construction Business Unit Country Manager, Neil OMullane commented: I want to express my earnest congratulations and thanks to all who have been involved in achieving this milestone and for the hard work, persistence and determination you have shown over the past two and a half years. We look forward to keeping up these efforts to complete the rest of the project safely.

    838-RasGas General Engineering Project

The 838-RasGas GES Project is proud to have completed 100,000 engineering man-hours with excellent Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). These include no LTIs and safety rule violations, 38 out of 42 on-time, client-commended package completions, with no engineering deliverables rejected by the client. The team achieved 100% on-time submissions of costs, time and resource sheets and on-time close-out of service orders, and submitted on-budget packages with no negative variations.

Venkatesan Muthusamy, Project Engineering Manager, Qatar Kentz, commented: On behalf of Kentz I would like to extend my sincerest thanks and appreciation to all, particularly the field supervision and workforce, who are the backbone of this achievement.

Brownfield Success Pleases Abu Dhabi Clients

The first project was the Turbo-Power Generator Control System Upgrade for

ADMA-OPCO, which is based in the Zakum Oil Field, 85 km offshore, north west of the Abu Dhabi mainland on the Zakum West Super Complex. The project objective was to enhance the control and performance of two existing 13MW Rolls Royce Gas Turbine Generators on the platform and introduce a new power management and load sharing capability. This involved retrofitting sophisticated turbine control systems, the design and addition of a new power management system for load management and the addition of two gas metering skids, along with associated piping. The new systems were then integrated to the platforms existing load shedding philosophy. The project scope included two shutdowns for each Gas Turbine

Generator and was successfully completed without a Lost Time injury (LTI).

The second was the Electrical Shutdown System (ESS) upgrade project at the Habshan NGL Gas production complex. This safety integrity project for Abu Dhabi Gas Industries Limited (GASCO) is located 175 km south west of Abu Dhabi and was completed in December 2013. The work scope included replacing existing, obsolete relay-based ESD systems with up-to-date ESD systems; the addition of machine monitoring systems for existing compressors; the addition of associated ESD piping and valves and an upgrade of various field instruments. The project involved 11 shutdowns throughout its duration, and was delivered with zero LTIs and no interruption to concurrent operations.

The safe completion of these projects was particularly challenging due to the demanding shutdown schedules in place. The management of offshore logistics is also a testing task, as it includes just in time equipment and materials mobilisation to the oil platforms with very little lay down space. In addition, the integration of modern control systems and equipment with an aged platforms existing systems is a challenge in itself. During the ADMA Project, the team mitigated this risk as much as possible by very meticulous and detailed integrated acceptance testing onshore, using sophisticated simulation equipment. Despite these challenges, both projects were delivered safely and on schedule. This is due to almost entirely to the dedication of the teams involved.

Congratulations to the teams who contributed to the safe completion of these two important EPC projects in the United Arab Emirates. We are delighted that Kentz has recently been awarded two additional EPC projects for GASCO and a new client. We look forward to continuing our successful relationship with GASCO and working with a new client in the region.Tush Doshi, Group President, Engineering and Projects Business Unit

The construction team in Australia is safely progressing the installation of

the underground cabling and interface management of associated civil works for the Ichthys Project Onshore LNG Facilities at Blaydin Point, Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia.

Kentz is working in an alliance with Leighton Contractors to install approximately 3,000 km of underground cable. The project team is very proud of its exemplary safety record to date on the project, with Lost Time Injury (LTI), first aid case frequency (FACFR) and all injuries frequency rates (AIFR) equalling zero. This excellent safety performance is a testament to the efforts of all involved given the challenging monsoonal conditions faced

by the team. The difficult conditions encountered on a daily basis require significant safety vigilance, team work, patience, interface management, robust preparation and dewatering procedures.

Mark Griffiths, Regional Construction Business Unit Manager, commented: The camaraderie, focus on safety and drive for innovative solutions to combat the challenging monsoonal and cyclonic conditions are a credit to the entire team, from all in the field to the support and leadership staff.

The team keeps developing innovative ideas to minimise such disruptions and improve productivity. One such issue for the longer cable pulls was the varying ground levels

encountered throughout the trench design to incorporate all services. The project team has developed the novel approach of staggering the pullies at different levels to match the curves. This not only solves the different height issues but ensures that the cables are protected at all times. The overall success of this approach was well received by Leighton Contractors, Kentzs alliance partner.

Whilst the project is only in the early stages with 80,000 man hours expended to date and approximately 12 months until completion, the continuous team effort and drive to succeed will see this project successfully completed.

The Ichthys LNG Project is a joint venture between INPEX group companies (the Operator), Total (major partner)

and the Australian subsidiaries of Tokyo Gas, Osaka Gas, Toho Gas and Chubu Electric Power. It is developing the Ichthys Field in the Browse Basin off the northwest coast of Australia. INPEX has contracted JKC Australia LNG Pty Ltd (JKC) to engineer, procure and construct the onshore LNG processing plant consisting of two LNG trains, with the capacity to produce 8.4 million tonnes of LNG, 1.6 million tonnes of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) per annum, as well as approximately 100,000 barrels of condensate per day at peak.

    worKInG Towards a common Goal

Following the devastation caused by Typhoon Haiyan across much of the central Philippines

in November 2013, Kentz established the Kentz Typhoon Haiyan Relief Fund to enable employees around the world to contribute to the relief efforts and support the affected families and friends of Kentzs 3,500 Filipino employees.

Typhoon Haiyan (or Yolanda as its known locally) wreaked havoc across much of the central Philippines. United Nations (UN) and the Philippines government data estimate the number of people affected by the typhoon at over 14 million of which 5.9 million are children. In total, 6,190 people were killed, and more than four million people were forced from their homes. Through the generous donations from employees around the globe and Kentz matched funding, the Kentz Typhoon Haiyan Relief fund has raised a total of US$300,000.

Having engaged in a comprehensive selection process, the Corporate Responsibility (CR) Committee selected international humanitarian agency GOAL

to invest the funds raised. Kentzs donation will be used to support a School Rehabilitation Programme in the Jaro Municipality on Leyte Island in the Philippines. The area was heavily damaged by the storms, and research from the Multi-Cluster Needs Assessment (MIRA) showed that teachers were experiencing difficulties delivering quality education in damaged classrooms and temporary learning spaces.

The project will involve working with the Department of Education to rehabilitate at least 39 schools that service the local typhoon-affected communities, providing safe learning

environments for children. At least 11,200 students (5,850 families) and 200 teachers will directly benefit in at least 54 vulnerable communities. As well as facilitating education, these schools will serve an important role as evacuation centres by providing shelter to vulnerable households. GOAL has established a strong network of local staff and community volunteers to execute the project, and an on-going aid eligibility assessment of all schools within the municipality, which is being supported by the teachers, district heads, community leaders and the Mayor of Jaro.

Similar to Kentz, GOAL was founded in Ireland. It now works across 14 countries delivering a wide range of humanitarian programmes and is a non-denominational, non-governmental and non-political organisation. Its staff come from many professional backgrounds, including accountants, nurses, doctors, nutritionists, logisticians, engineers, and administrative personnel. Kentz previously worked with GOAL in Sri Lanka after the Tsunami

hit in 2004. A Kentz employee spent over a year working with GOAL building, reconstructing and upgrading over 50 schools, rebuilding local infrastructure and providing temporary shelters for the homeless.

GOAL endeavours to engage with local partners at community or local level in every location where it responds to emergencies or implements programmes. Most of GOALs staff are national, with only a small number of international staff. In the Philippines, GOAL has engaged with a number of local partners for the emergency phase of operations, and continues to seek opportunities to work closely with local community groups where it operates.

Kentz would like to thank all those who have very generously donated to the Kentz Typhoon Haiyan Relief Fund, and looks forward to sharing project updates in upcoming publications. If you would like more information on GOAL and the work they do, please visit http://www.goal.ie.

In order to get and maintain operating licenses, all Kentz group companies, joint ventures and employees must comply with the laws of the land wherever the Company does business. Accordingly, Kentz recognises its environmental responsibilities arising from legislation and regulations on the nature, scale and environmental impacts of its activities, products and services.

Kentz takes statutory obligations and regulations as minimum requirements only; the Company strives to maintain leading industry practices and to develop, implement and maintain environmental management systems that meet the requirements of ISO 14001.

Kentz provides sufficient resources of time, personnel, finance, training, information and supervision in pursuance of these objectives and does everything reasonably practicable to ensure its subcontractors do the same.

It is the duty of all personnel including suppliers and subcontractors to take all reasonable precautions to improve Kentzs environmental performance by preventing pollution, reducing waste, minimising hazardous waste and recycling as much as possible.

Launched in June 2012, the Green Office Policy supports Kentzs environmental reporting and reduction of carbon emissions as the Company works towards the goal of achieving carbon neutrality in its offices.

As a Jersey-registered company, Kentz has elected to follow the guidance of the new Greenhouse Gas (GHG) mandatory reporting requirements. Kentz commenced measuring scope one and two emissions on major project sites from October 2013, and will start reporting from January 2014. These results will be communicated in the 2014 Annual and Corporate Responsibility (CR) Reports, which will be published the second quarter of 2015.

ETHICS COlUMnWhat has the environment got to do with our business and company ethics?

Kentz is committed to: Managing the efficient use

    of resources Minimising environmental

    impacts throughout its operations

Developing and implementing sustainable solutions that contribute to meeting worldwide energy needs

Contributing constructively to global sustainable development

    Preventing pollution Identifying, assessing

and managing risks to the environment.

It is the duty of all personnel including suppliers and subcontractors to take all reasonable precautions to improve Kentzs environmental performance by preventing pollution, reducing waste, minimising hazardous waste and recycling as much as possible.
