Dear Greenmount families,
We are quickly moving through the term and the busy schedule of activities:
√ NAPLAN testing went well, with thanks to parents and carers for ensuring students
were in attendance and ready for the three days of assessments.
√ Swimming has started smoothly, though we already have towels and clothing
appearing in the lost property!
√ Junior Primary teachers have been conducting Parent interviews and sharing
information of student progress to date
√ Teachers are busy finalising mid-year reports for all year levels
And in the coming weeks, the Winter Sport competition begins for our senior students!
Remember to check the term planner for information.
School Times There have been a number of students consistently arriving late for the start of school. At Greenmount Primary the school day begins at 8.43am and ends at 3.00pm (except for early close Tuesdays 2.30pm) Classrooms are open from 8.30am. The first session of the day is an important time for students to get organised
for the school day and transition into the day’s programme. Being late means that the first instructions around lessons are missed and this can be unsettling for students. Please contact Admin if there are any issues or problems that we can support you.

Football Boots
Miss Marotta and the students of Room 16 have recently been
inspired by an article from The Weekend West, about an eight
year old boy who is making a big difference in the community.
Luke Cotellessa of Ellenbrook was recently watching a video of
children playing football in the outback and noticed they had no
shoes on. He realised that every year he got new boots as he outgrew them,
but the previous seasons boots were still in good condition. He decided to start
a program called Luke’s Boots for the Outback and has been collecting second
hand boots to send to remote communities.
Room 16 is proud to have a collection box in their classroom and have also
placed one at the front office. If you would like to be part of this program to
help kids in outback areas, we are welcoming any donations of used footy
boots. Thanks.

Commemorating the Centenary of ANZAC KSP Writers’ Centre Presents
BLACKBOY HILL IS CALLING
Much has been written about the tragedy of the War overseas, but what of the training soldiers received before they left Australian shores? What were they told, what were they fed, and what environment did they merge from, which would help forge the legendary spirit of ANZAC? Blackboy Hill is Calling is the first ever comprehensive history of WA’s most significant training camp, Blackboy Hill, which trained over 32,000 men. With the production of this not-for-profit commemorative book, the KSP Writers’ Centre has ensured that its history will never be forgotten. Last year’s Year Room 15 students helped research information for the book.
‘I congratulate all who were involved in creating this comprehensive book.’ Hon. Colin Barnett, Premier of Western Australia
Limited print run; only 1,000 copies available. $15.00 AUS each including postage.
