Green Krathong Project

(A Contest of Design & Making Krathongs from Recycled Materials)

Academic Year 2010

Objective: 1. To promote the Thai Arts and Culture (Loy Krathong Festival) among

SIIT students and faculty/staff members.

2. To promote a sense of environmental conservation among

SIIT students and faculty/staff members through the usage of recycled

materials for making krathongs.

Organizer: Student Affairs and Alumni Relations Division, SIIT

Date of Activity: 8 - 19 November 2010

Time: 8:00 am – 5:00 pm (Office hours)

Place: SIIT Rangsit Campus

Approx. Budget: 4,500 Baht (Four Thousand and Five Hundred Baht)

17 November 2010 5:00 pm Deadline of Entry Submission

18 November 2010 4:30 – 6:00 pm Contestants’ Presentation to the Judge Committee

18-19 November 2010 by 2:00 pm (19 Nov.) Popular Voting by SIIT Students

19 November 2010 4:00 pm Awards Announcement

Contestants: Approx. 20-30 SIIT Students (Individual/Team 2-3 students: Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD students)

Voters: Approx. 300 SIIT Students (Individual: Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD students)

1st Prize 2,000 Baht + Certificate

Prize 1,500 Baht + Certificate

Popular Vote * 1,000 Baht + Certificate

Remark: * The Popular Vote Prize will not be presented to the same entries as the 1st or 2

nd Prizes.

The next rank of voting will receive the Popular Vote Prize instead.

Guideline: (Limitations and Krathong Qualifications)

1. Must be submitted by SIIT students: individual or team (1-3 students/team)

2. Made of recycled materials only (do not use foam)

3. Having a diameter of not less than 8 inches

4. Floating not less than 5 minutes during the conceptual presentation

5. No limitations of weight and shape

6. One student can submit only one Kragthong (Individual OR Team member)

7. Do not copy any design from others

Score:

The submitted krathongs must meet all of the qualifications according to the contest

guidelines. Unqualified krathong(s) will not be voted on or considered for any prizes.

1. Creativity 30 points

2. Beauty 20 points

3. Promoting environmental conservation 50 points

Total: 100 points
