You will examine the healthy lifestyles, purpose of life, and happiness strategies in Ikaria, Greece, and personally apply these longevity lessons to convert your current Danger Zone into a Blue Zone. It is our hope that your renewed spirit will invoke the “pass-it-forward” rippling effect to influence your family, friends, and other cizens within your community. The primary aim of your visit will be to understand the spiritual, emoonal, intellectual, physical, and social dimensions of wellness within the Greece Blue Zone. EXS 494: From Danger Zone to Blue Zone - Northern Ikaria (3 credits) REC 494: From Danger Zone to Blue Zone - Southern Ikaria (3 credits) These courses are designed to facilitate your understanding of the lifestyles and mindset of people in the Blue Zones, where the most Centenarians and Super Centenarians live. Once the theorecal consideraons are learned, students are encouraged to apply the knowledge and longevity lessons from the Ikarian Blue Zone to praccal applicaons back in the United States. When in Ikaria, you will seek and interview older adults, Centenarians, and/or Super Centenarians to link theory with pracce. You will also experience Greek culture and food, delve into the hot thermal springs with purported healing qualies, encounter the dramac rocky cliffs and crystal clear water, and visit a winery, honey house, and hospital. You will experience rich histories and tradions that span over thousands of years. Housing is included, and you have the opportunity to travel to surrounding areas before and/or aſter the program as desired. March 20, 2016
