• The game Mario was very popular in featuring pixel art in their first few games. The examples below show Mario when it first started on the Nintendo entertainment system. Since then even Mario has developed out of the way of pixels to 3D graphics. As you can see in the other photograph below Mario has developed from its simple minded pixel creation to being played with much more detail and development in the way of the gameplay.

• Concept art is a form of illustration where the main goal is to convey a visual representation of a design, idea, and/or mood for use in films, video games, animation, or comic books before it is put into the final product. Concept art is also referred to as visual development and/or concept design. This term can also be applied to retail design, set design, fashion design and architectural design.

• Star wars uses concept art to give a perspective on the world that they are trying to portray to give a more detailed view on what there world is like.

Texture art

• Texture art in games is used to detail the floors and wall to make the game look overall as realistic as possible. Texture artists are commonly seen looking at the floor to give them the detail and ideas that are needed to pass over onto the video game world. Textures are in video games to show more detail and a more realistic view on the world around you, even though the texture are not always noticed they are still always present and take a lot of time to be placed in the open world. When creating two different textures like a dirt and a concrete floor, any gamer would think it is and easy and trivial task to complete, but in fact it is a hard time consuming process to show the changes between dirt and cement. Textures are also used in

relation to making a character or characters in

games look realistic and gives a better idea of the person that they are trying to create.

Background graphics

• Background graphics have still been given the same attention to detail as any other graphic in the game but it is not generally noticed. Background graphics are placed into games to make it seem that there is a world beyond the level that you are placing through. For example when you see destroyed building and broken down cars it gives you a better story than just going through a game level by level it makes you wonder what events led up to this happening and what fate awaits that part of the world, background graphics are there to add a more detail and interesting story to the game rather than go there kill him and return. It helps strengthen a games back story and overall gameplay.

Print media art

• Is the promotion of the game in the form of packaging like on magazines, leaflets, and the games cover. It can be promoted as a photorealism pictures or something that represents the game. It also has different types of packaging techniques varying on the age of the game or film. For example a kids game like viva pinata has friendly colours used like yellow, orange and green to be able to relate more to a kids age type whereas an older rated game or film will have a more violent text like the film 300 with its red text and blood splats on the cover and a man

grasping a sword looking angry. Print media art all depends on what type of
