We appreciate that graduates are faced with many difficult decisions, with where to start a career often the most challenging. We understand this can be daunting, as we have both been where you are, as have many of our team.

We know that graduate opportunities, within the UK IT labour market, can be difficult to find. We have established our Graduate Academy to provide rewarding career opportunities, while developing the future leaders of The Config Team.

As our name suggests, we are very much a team; we work collaboratively, we help each other out and we all pull together and share experiences and skills to provide the right customer solutions. Our people are the key to our success, which is why it is important to us that we invest in training and development to ensure everyone can develop and be the best they can be in their role.

Our graduates join as Associate Consultants and will benefit from working with mentors from our established and growing team of industry experts, who all play a vital role in their development.

Our ServicesConsultancyOur consultants provide honest, independent advice to help customers find the right solution. We harness the latest technology to advise companies on the most suitable SAP Supply Chain solution, aligned to industry best practice. This is typically project and client-based work, offering accelerated learning environments.

Support Our support service offers international customers access to the most experienced SAP Supply Chain technical experts, on demand, whenever they are needed. Operated on a ticket-based system, this is a protected learning environment and offers a great opportunity to develop consultants with a deep understanding of troubleshooting tickets.

Product We don’t just consult, we create. Our dedicated development team helps solve supply chain challenges by creating innovative solutions, harnessing the latest IoT and mobile innovations. Our product solutions are fully integrated with SAP and designed with intuitive interfaces to improve user experience (UX).

What is SAP?

SAP is a multinational company that provides Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software used by global companies. SAP solutions enable companies to manage large data streams and integrate business processes across CRM, Customer Services, Finance, HR and Supply Chain.

It could even be one of the biggest companies you have never heard of. We are proud to have been working with SAP for more than 25 years and to be recognised as an SAP Gold Partner.

If this is the first time you are hearing about SAP, don’t worry, we understand that most graduates have not studied SAP as part of their degree. Our Graduate Academy exists to provide you with the necessary training, skills and tools to embark on a successful career as an SAP Consultant.

What is an SAP Functional Consultant?

An SAP Functional Consultant understands the capabilities of SAP software and its impact on business processes. In simple terms, it is similar to the way in which an Apple Genius understands the iOS software, the way an iPhone operates and how it interacts with other hardware and software.

Each SAP Supply Chain module is complex and requires skill, time and experience to fully understand its capabilities, therefore an SAP Functional Consultant will usually specialise in only a few SAP modules. Functional Consultants working at The Config Team specialise in implementing SAP Supply Chain solutions, which solve specific supply chain challenges.

What are the key responsibilities of a Functional Consultant? Each business, customer, industry and SAP system is different. Therefore, functional consultancy provides a rewarding and varied career within IT. The main role of a Functional Consultant is to consult on the latest SAP technology, create system blueprints, build new system designs, attend customer workshops, support system go-lives and train SAP users.

What is an SAP Technical Consultant?An SAP Technical Consultant understands how to programme in SAP using ABAP language.

They work with Functional Consultants to understand the customer’s business processes and specific requirements, to enable them to make system changes and develop bespoke solutions that deliver on, and exceed, customer expectations.

What is ABAP? ABAP is a high-level programming language created by SAP. It stands for Advanced Business Application Programming and is extracted from the base computing languages Java, C, C++ and Python.

What are the key responsibilities of a Technical Consultant? As with functional consultancy, each business, customer, industry and SAP system is different and therefore, a career in technical consultancy can provide fulfilling, varied and interesting SAP software projects for people who love to programme and solve problems.

The main role of a Technical Consultant is to design, develop and deliver SAP Supply Chain solutions and custom developments using ABAP language.

Graduate Academy We strongly believe in the investment and development of graduates. We want to create a workplace that enables, empowers and offers the best framework, tools and environment to set graduates up with long and successful careers at The Config Team.

Our Graduate Academy is a structured 12-month programme commencing each September. You will join our Graduate Academy in the position of Associate Consultant and, over the duration of the programme, will be given access to develop a comprehensive understanding of our different business functions, including technical and functional consultancy, business services and product development.

Associate Consultants will be assigned a Buddy and have access to mentor support from experienced consultants, who may have followed very similar career paths, and are therefore well positioned to offer support during, and after, the programme.

If you join our Graduate Academy, you can expect to gain the necessary understanding of SAP Supply Chain solutions, along with the foundation skills, to enable you to start your journey on becoming an SAP Consultant.

We look for optimistic, confident, fun, intelligent, friendly and collaborative graduates, who can bring their own minds and creative ideas. Ideally, graduates should have a degree in either Computer Sciences, Mathematics, Physics or Business Management, with a minimum grade of 2:1.
