Welcome to the new season of creative drama and acting classes. I am very excited to start off

this school year with The Coterie as Education Director! I have been spending time getting to know

the programs, teachers, and students. The quality and variety of the education programming is

astounding. I know that we have a wonderful opportunity for students across the city to come together

and learn about the wonder of theatre and drama. With so many locations across town, you are easily

able to find a class that works for you and your family’s busy schedule.Young imaginations are given the chance to grow in these classes through imaginative play and acting. The creativity cultivated in drama classrooms is carried through every aspect of life and into adulthood, building students into great thinkers. We are eager to share our love of theatre and imagination with our students!Thank you!

WINTER IMAGINE THAT

SPRING

CIRCUS HILARIOUS

2nd–4th GradesFALL GET YOUR SHREK ON!

WINTER WHERE THE SIDEWALK ENDS AND OTHER POEMS TO PLAY

SPRING THEATRE SAMPLER

Explore the magical and sometimes strange Kingdom of Far Far Away! Students will have the opportunity to step into roles as ogres, princesses, donkeys, and dragons as they develop skills in problem solving, story sequencing, and character creation.

Jump into the greatest fairytale never told! Students will have the chance to explore the adventures of Shrek, Fiona, and Donkey while honing their comedic and musical theatre skills. Students will play theatre games, and learn music and choreography from the Coterie’s upcoming production of Shrek!

Students will explore different elements of theatre that will enhance their skills in collaboration, critical thinking, and creativity. Students will be introduced to basic acting and improv games, make-up techniques, prop construction, stage combat, and movement skills.

“If you are a dreamer, a wisher, a liar, a hoper…Come in! Come in!” Spin tales based on the everyday sillies and magical adventures inspired by the writing of the beloved Shel Silverstein. Students will use their creative energy to act out characters, weave their own tales, and build skills in collaboration.

The dramatic possibilities are endless in this creative drama class where students learn how to use the actor’s tools of body, voice, and imagination. Each week students will work together to put their own twists on fairytales, folktales, and favorite children’s books through improvisation, art, music, and movement.

Imagine circus animals who can talk then add kids with lively imaginations and you have a story waiting to be told. If those same kids can move and do funny voices then you have a scene! The setting: a down-and-out circus trying to make a come-back…Curtain going up!

“My son said he learned more in one of your courses than he did his entire freshman year.”
