Explore Option 1: Flower in vase

You will need:

Cardboard

Black texta

Flowers from the garden

Pencil or something to make holes through cardboard

Sticky tape (optional) Steps:

1. Take the piece of cardboard and using your texta, draw a vase. Think about line, shape, pattern and repetition when drawing your vase.

2. Use your pencil or pen to poke holes

at the top of the vase (flowers will go in here).

Roll the car down the incline, how fast did it go? What would happen if you lay a different material on this incline? 🤔 Try laying a shirt on the incline, does it make the car roll fast/slower? If it rolls faster, it decreases the friction, if it rolls slower it increases the friction. Challenge Can you find 2 materials that decrease friction (make the car roll faster), and 2 materials that increase friction (make the car roll slower)? Reflection

Take a photo/s of your incline

Write two things: 1. What is friction? 2. What were your results? Did you

find things that changed the friction?

Main Activity: How do you stay active? This week is your chance to show your P.E teachers your favourite thing to do to stay active at home! We would love for you to share a photo or video of you doing your favourite activity at home! Some ideas may include:

Riding your bike or scooter.

Taking your dog for a walk.

Jumping on your trampoline.

Running races with your family.

Throwing/bouncing your favourite ball into a hoop.

Kicking a football/soccer ball. Do you have a secret skill you want to share with your P.E teachers? We would love to see it! A secret skill is something you are really good at but don’t get to show it off often! An idea for a secret skill may be:

3. Go outside and look for flowers, dandelions, and anything else that would look good in your vase.

4. Put the stems in the holes so that the flowers are on display in your vase as a beautiful decoration.

5. If they’re a bit wobbly, you can put some sticky tape on the back.

Option 2: Clay Mobiles

You will need:

Large bowl

Mixing spoon

2 cups corn flour

1 cup white glue (Elmer’s from your local supermarket)

Clay tools – skewer, fork, knife, rolling pin, pencil

Food colouring (optional)

Wool/String

Stick, coat hanger or something to tie strings onto

Textas or paints (optional)

Steps: 1. Place cornflour in a bowl. 2. Slowly add glue. Keep adding glue

until the mixture reaches a good consistency. If it’s too crumbly, add more glue. If it’s too sticky, add more corn flour. Add food colouring

Focus Make up a repeating number sequence to play on all the instruments. Eg. You could play 1, 3, 4, 1, 3, 4 Listen for what is the same and what is different when you play the same thing on different instruments. Reflection Which instrument did you like the most? Why? Don’t have a computer? Use different objects that you have at home to tap to make different sounds. You could use:

Chair

Table

Plastic or metal bowl

Empty ice-cream container

Container of rice or beads

Health: Relaxation techniques We are going to try two special relaxation techniques this week. It is important we relax our minds regularly to get us in a great mindset to learn. Lie down on your back. Have someone read you the script below.

to mixture if you’re adding it. Divide into several balls if you want to do multiple colours.

3. Knead it like you would a bread dough recipe, until it’s soft, light and malleable, not sticky at all

4. Create shapes - mould into your desired shape using hands or cookie cutter - circle, star, heart, triangle, square etc.

5. Add textured lines and patterns using a skewer.

6. Next, we need to make a hole

toward the top and the bottom for the wool/string to go through. You can use a pencil or skewer to push through clay.

6. Place your shapes on a tray somewhere safe to air dry – 2 to 4 hrs.

7. Once hard, colour/decorate with paint or textas if desired.

8. Tie wool/string through the holes to create strings of shapes, and tie the strings onto a stick, coat hanger or similar. Create a handle with string if necessary.

9. Hang somewhere in your house! **You could also make your mobile with craft items too if you can’t make clay.

You will need: Yourself, lots of imagination and some household items!

Steps: 1. Research online and select a famous

artwork to recreate. Famous artists you can research:

o Vincent Van Gogh o Joan Miro o Pablo Picasso o Frida Kahlo o Paul Klee o Claude Monet o Andy Warhol o Paul Cezanne

2. Recreate that artwork with what you have at home – people, pets, objects, food, clothing, inside or outside, toys, get the whole family involved

3. Snap a picture of your recreation!
