and earth and of all things visible and invisible. And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God,

begotten of His Father before all worlds, God of God, Light ofLight, very God of very God, begotten, not made, being of onesubstance with the Father, by whom all things were made; whofor us men and for our salvation came down from heaven andwas incarnate by the Holy Spirit of the virgin Mary and wasmade man; and was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate. He suffered and was buried. And the third day He rose againaccording to the Scriptures and ascended into heaven and sits atthe right hand of the Father. And He will come again with gloryto judge both the living and the dead, whose kingdom will haveno end.

C: We lift them to the Lord.P: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.C: It is right to give Him thanks and praise.P: It is truly good, right, and salutary that we should at all times

and in all places give thanks to You, O Lord, holy Father, almighty and everlasting God, for the countless blessings Youso freely bestow on us and all creation. Above all, we givethanks for Your boundless love shown to us when You sentYour only-begotten Son, Jesus Christ, into our flesh and laid onHim our sin, giving Him into death that we might not dieeternally. Because He is now risen from the dead and lives andreigns to all eternity, all who believe in Him will overcome sinand death and will rise again to new life. Therefore with angelsand archangels and with all the company of heaven we laud andmagnify Your glorious name, evermore praising You andsinging:

Sanctus (LSB p. 208)

Prayer of ThanksgivingP: Blessed are You, O Lord our God, king of all creation, for You

have had mercy on us and given Your only-begotten Son that

whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. In Your righteous judgment You condemned the sin of Adamand Eve, who ate the forbidden fruit, and You justly barred themand all their children from the tree of life. Yet, in Your greatmercy, You promised salvation by a second Adam, Your Son,Jesus Christ, our Lord, and made His cross a life-giving tree forall who trust in Him. We give You thanks for the redemptionYou have prepared for us through Jesus Christ. Grant us YourHoly Spirit that we may faithfully eat and drink of the fruits ofHis cross and receive the blessings of forgiveness, life, andsalvation that come to us in His body and blood. Hear us as wepray in His name and as He has taught us:

Lord’s PrayerOur Father Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name, Thy

kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Giveus this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as weforgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not intotemptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdomand the power and the glory forever and ever. Amen.

The Words of Our LordP: Our Lord Jesus Christ, on the night when He was betrayed, took

bread, and when He had given thanks, He broke it and gave it tothe disciples and said: “Take, eat; this is My body, which isgiven for you. This do in remembrance of Me.” In the same wayalso He took the cup after supper, and when He had giventhanks, He gave it to them, saying: “Drink of it, all of you; thiscup is the new testament in My blood, which is shed for you forthe forgiveness of sins. This do, as often as you drink it, inremembrance of Me.”

Pax DominiP: The peace of the Lord be with you always.C: Amen.

The Lutheran Hour: “What You’re Getting Into” Many of us knowwhat it’s like to try out for a team, for a role in a play, or first chairin the band. We might have been chosen first. We might have beenchosen last. We might not have been chosen at all. We might havebeen cut. So, how does God choose His team? (Matthew 5:17-20) Hear the message Sunday on WJAG at 7:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.

Life Thoughts in the Church Year: The Lord finds human life worthsaving even if it belongs to one who is weak (Romans 5:6) or evil(Romans 5:8). If He will have such as us for His “treasuredpossession” (Exodus 19:5) despite our profound impairments ofheart, how can we decline to behold and safeguard the preciousnessof another just because of some simply physical shortcoming?

Scholarship applications are now being taken for Lutheran HighNortheast and for Concordia, Seward. Stewardship Corner: As God’s people, we give a portion of ourmoney to God through our church for different reasons. Giving is away to show God honor, thanks, and gratitude for all that He hasdone and continues to do. Another reason we give is that weunderstand that the money we have is a gift from God, and He askedus to give first to His kingdom before we see to our own needs andwants. Paul, inspired by the Holy Spirit, wrote to the Corinthians,“On the first day of every week, each of you is to put something asideand store it up, as he may prosper…” (1 Corinthians 16:2). Givingis one response to the great love of God in Christ Jesus.
