How HIV/AIDS Develops● It takes 3-6 months for the virus to become detectable● Over time HIV breaks down the body’s immune system, making it

unable to fight common infections often called opportunistic infections, these includes, but are not limited to:

Tuberculosis, pneumonia, meningitis Symptoms: Weight loss, fevers, diarrhea, fatigue, skin & mouth

Protect Yourself Insist on tested blood if you ever need a blood transfusion

Insist on fresh syringes and needles with your doctor and do not share razors to shave, needles to pierce body parts, or syringes

See a doctor for regular checkups if you are pregnant

Be faithful to ONE partner who is totally faithful to you

Use a condom consistently and correctly every time

Reduce your number of partnersAbstain if you have not had sex yet

Demonstration on the Proper Use of a CondomCarefully remove the condom after ejaculation and pull out of your partner before the penis becomes soft. Hold the condom on the penis as you withdraw to ensure that sperms do not spilled out.

Inspect the condom to ensure that it is properly orientated. Pinch the end out of the condom and place it on the errect penis. Allow 1 cm at the top for sperm collection

Unroll the condom all the way to the base of the penis. Displace any trapped air by gliding your hand down the enrobed penis. (Note that friction on trapped air risk bursting the condom). Use only water based lubricant on the exterior of the condom

Our fingernails can tear / damage the condom. So carefully open the package Do not use your teeth for fear of piercing the condom.

Form a tie at the open end of the condom to prevent sperms spilling out.

Wrap the condom in a piece of paper and either bury it or throw into a pit toilet or appropriate waste bin. Do not throw the used condom into a toilet bowl
