Chapter LXX: Isolation

“Eunie!”Running over to Eunice, who was taking pictures of the front gate, Jennifer panted

and gave her friend one perfect heart with her hands. Eunice knew exactly why Jenniferwas here so she turned off her camera hurriedly and stuffed it in its respective carrier.Searching Jennifer's face, Eunice could already tell that Jennifer was in a good mood.

“I already know about the breakup,” said Eunice, bobbing her head.“Good!” said Jennifer, clasping Eunice's arm and tapping her fingers against it. “You

have a chance to attack then!”“Isn't it too soon?” asked Eunice, reddening at Jennifer's suggestion.“Not by Kristian's track record.”Eunice frowned. “How do you know when you don't have copies of the notebook

anymore, Jennifer?”“Memory, Eunie!” said Jennifer proudly, hugging her red satin purse now.“Let's not talk about Kristian for a second here,” said Eunice shyly, knowing Jennifer

too well. “Do you think the rumors about Rin Hamada and Jordan are true?”“They are,” said Jennifer insistently.“Why do you sound so sure...”Jennifer patted her chest. “Because I got it from a reliable source.”Eunice's eyes widened. “You spread it?”“Who else?”“What is Tiffy doing these days then?” asked Eunice, more to herself than Jennifer. “I

haven't heard from her since, and I thought for sure sending Kristian to her would help.”

“Leave her alone,” said Jennifer, holding her purse up to check for stains. “We're notassociated with her anymore.”“The Asian Gossip Girls are really done for then,” said Eunice sadly.Jennifer tossed Eunice a cold look. “About time.”“It's sad that even though we're not part of the group anymore, we still talk and act

like we're part of the group.”At Eunice's comment, Jennifer had no way to respond to it. She hadn't thought about

it much. Since she couldn't argue against it, Jennifer smiled and changed topics to theaffair between Jordan and Rin Hamada to talk about. In other words, they went on aheadto gossiping and proving Eunice's words correct.

“Wake up, Jordan.”On his makeshift bed on the ground, Jordan groaned and turned his back to Rin.Dressed in her school clothes, Rin glanced at the clock and knew that if she didn't hurry, shewould be late for Jazz Band practice. With that in mind, Rin kicked Jordan's back again towake him up. He was being such a baby, Rin thought.

“Why do I have to get up too?” asked Jordan, refusing to face her. “I don't havepractice in the morning...”

If it were any other morning, Rin would have given in to him sleeping in until it wastime for school. After all, her house was literally a block away from the front gate.



However, Rin was not in the mood for this since she hadn't slept since they came home fromthe restaurant yesterday. She stayed up most of the night, staring at the ceiling andthinking of all the things she could have done to make her relationship with Kristian workout. There were endless possibilities and she went through them one by one. When heralarm went off a few minutes ago, she jerked herself up to a sitting position. This was whenRin realized that life... time will always move on even if she's at a standstill.

“Because,” said Rin in an emotionless voice. “Father knows about my breakup withKristian.” Jordan rolled on his back and stared up at her in shock. “And he knows it'sbecause of us.”

Jordan smacked the back of his hand against his eyes. “Oh God...”“That's why,” said Rin, crouching down in front of Jordan. “In order for you to stay

here, you have to agree to a couple of terms.” Jordan groaned, still hiding behind his hand.“And one of them is for you to drive me to school.”

“As your chauffeur?” asked Jordan, exasperated.“I told him,” said Rin in a shy voice. “That you're my boyfriend.”Removing his hand from his eyes, Jordan gawked at Rin. “You can't be serious.”“I know you have to put up with my affairs,” said Rin, sighing. “And I know I

shouldn't involved you any more than necessary.”“There's a 'but', isn't there?”“But,” said Rin, nearly smiling at his question. “You're the only one who can help me

at this time, Jordan.” Rin lowered her eyes. “I can't involve Jin now...”At the sight of Rin so vulnerable, Jordan felt sympathetic towards her. Even though

he had seen her like this many times before, he was not quite used to this side of her quiteyet. In school, she was always so headstrong. Then again, so was he. Since he was livingwith her until he could find a place of his own, he should not be so surprised at the manysides of Rin Hamada. On the other hand, he should begin to get used to it.

Since Rin was in a serious mood, Jordan decided to lighten things up a bit for her,“Hey. It's no big deal. I'm only driving for, like, two minutes and then dropping you off at

the front gate. It's not like I have to hold your hand and walk you inside right?”“No. Definitely not.”Jordan sat up straight. “Pretending to be your boyfriend is not so bad either.”“It's not?” asked Rin curiously.“Not counting the chastity part, of course...”Immediately, Rin pouted and glared at him, “Hurry up and get dressed or else, I'll be

late for practice.”“All right,” said Jordan, getting up. “I get it.”“Hurry,” said Rin, walking around and pushing him. “Move it.”“I'm really not a morning person...”“I don't care!”

Jordan sighed and took off his shirt. “I'm supposed to be the master here.”“What the hell are you doing, Jordan Greene?” asked Rin, pointing at his back.“I'm changing,” said Jordan carelessly, loosening his pants.Rin whirled around. “Not in front of me!”“All my clothes are in your room and you told me to hurry...”Frustrated, Rin shrieked, “At least warn me ahead of time so I can get out!”Feeling playful all of sudden, Jordan glanced over his shoulder at Rin humming to

herself and staring at the wall. Most of the time, he was scared of her. He wouldn't dare toeven touch or go near her. This time, he felt like he had the upper hand. With most girls in



school, they wouldn't even blink or flinch whenever he took his shirt off, especially duringsixth period before running laps. Rin was no innocent puppy, and yet, her reaction washilarious. Somehow, that turned Jordan on. At the same time though, Jordan blamed themorning for this.

“Why have you changed already?” asked Jordan, reaching out for his jeans and then,wearing them on top of his boxers. “You should have joined me.”

“No thank you!”“Whenever I walk around in a towel,” said Jordan, picking up a shirt from a bag inhis suitcase. “You never seemed to care before.”

Rin blushed and shook her head. “I'm conscious of it now, okay?”“Can it be I've moved from sexless to-”“No!” cried Rin in interruption. “You haven't moved from anywhere to anywhere!”“So what changed?”“I don't know,” said Rin bitterly. “Just shut up and change quickly.”“I'll tell what has changed,” said Jordan, putting on his shirt and straightening it. He

moved over and grabbed Rin's arm, making her jump slightly. “It's because you're single andon the rebound.”

“Look at the time,” said Rin, releasing herself and passing by Jordan. “I'll wait foryou at the front door.”Waiting for Rin to leave, Jordan picked up his clothes and thought to himself, “God,

I'm terrible. Why did I have to bring that up? And why am I making the moves on her of allpeople?” Jordan held his cell phone up at a familiar number, but then shook his head. “No, Iwill refrain from asking Vic to come to my rescue. I have to endure this and grow up. Bad,Jordan, bad.”

Rin poked her head back in and asked angrily, “Are you being slow on purpose?”Jordan saluted her. “On my way, Mademoiselle!”“You're not French!”“So many complaints this morning...”

After Jordan dropped Rin off at the corner and drove back home, Rin walked slowlyto Jazz Band, even at the risk of being late. Right when Jordan's car drove away, Rininstantly remembered who usually went with her to Jazz Band. Right then and there,without fearing Mr. Chan, Rin entertained thoughts of ditching. What should she do? Whatshould she say? More importantly, should she pretend nothing had happened?

Her concerns were for naught when Mr. Chan started demanding for Kristian'swhereabouts. Mr. Chan was certain that Kristian would come with Rin like always. WithoutKristian, they had no pianist, which was a bad idea for everybody. Sadly, Rin told herteacher that she had no idea where Kristian was. Where could he be?

“It's so like him not to come,” said Edwin, smirking from his seat with his bass.Rin lifted a brow at Edwin. “You're in a good mood.”

“Nonsense,” said Edwin, waving his bow around. “Why should I be happy at the ideaof you cheating on Kristian with Jordan?” Edwin shook his head innocently at the surprise onRin's face. “It's one evil or another with you, isn't it?”

“What are you talking about?” asked Rin, shocked.“Everyone's talking,” said Edwin, shrugging. “Everyone knows.”At this, Rin mentally asked the rest of her band mates, who all agreed. Rin stumbled

to her seat and gawked at the ground. She and Kristian had broken up yesterday. How didthe whole school know about it so fast? Had someone watched their breakup from afar? Wasthat possible? If so, how would they know it was because of her emotional affair with



Jordan? Everything was happening so fast. One minute, she was worried about seeingKristian so soon. The next minute, she had to deal with the school spreading the newsabout her, Jordan, and Kristian. Junior year was supposed to be tough, but not this way.

“I'm grabbing my music sheet,” said Rin in declaration before she disappeared insidethe storage room.

“Don't worry, Mr. Chan,” said Edwin, still in a good mood. “If Kristian doesn't come

back, I'll find you a new pianist in no time. Who needs him, right?”Mr. Chan said regretfully, “My genius of a pianist...”****************************************************

If there were ever a sight to behold, it was the one happening at the boys' gymwhere the basketball team usually practiced after school. Unfortunately, the doors wereclosed and locked to make sure no intruders were allowed inside for this secret meetingheld between none other than the two most opposed groups in the entire school- the Elitesand the Pimp Juice. The person who set it up in the first place was none other than Lionardafter a request from Jezebelle.

“No matter what,” said Jezebelle before she left the area to go home that Sundayevening. “Convince the two groups to at least talk to one another.”

“That's impossible!” said Lionard, gaping.“You're intelligent, aren't you?” asked Jezebelle, snarling. “Figure out how.”“I'll try, but there's no guarantee that it'll work...”Jezebelle smirked at him from afar. “You worry too much. You have me on your side.

I'll make it work somehow. You'll see.”Now, standing in front of the infamous Eddie Rice that Lionard had heard so much

about, he thought about how it must have been Jezebelle who managed to get him thisopportunity. She must be behind all this somehow. It was too much of a coincidence that arumor that spread just yesterday was the one that bothered both groups enough for themto seek each other out. He gave the extra push and made all the arrangements for his groupand the Pimp Juice to meet like Jezebelle had asked, but this rumor was too good to be

true. How could Jordan Greene possibly be the third person in the relationship betweenKristian and Rin Hamada?"You know my policy, Lionard," said Penny, sticking her nose up stubbornly. The six of

them were in the corner now to discuss things before they faced the Pimp Juice boys. "I'mnot speaking to them."

"Come on, Penny," said Lionard, shaking her arm. "You're our leader.""I don't talk to delinquents," said Penny, rolling her eyes."You talked to Jordan Greene before," said Heather in reminder with a sparkling

smile.Penny glared at the other female in the group and said sternly, "He was a special

case."

"Special case eh?" asked Heather and Michael in unison, grinning ear to ear."You better watch your back, George," said Lionard, nudging the tallest boy of the

group. "If Jordan can get Rin Hamada to cheat, Penny won't be too far behind."Before George could open his mouth, Penny intervened, "You people are so childish.

George and I don't have that kind of relationship. We're professionals, so let's keep all thistalk professional and mature."

"So Penny," said Arav, leaning against the wall for support. "Are you going to talk toEddie or not?"

"I refuse," said Penny, wrapping her arms in front of her chest.



"You won't mind us talking in your place, do you?" asked Arav, standing up straightnow. "Someone has to talk to them. If you're not going to, at least send a representative outof the group."

"You do it then," said Penny, waving Arav off. "I don't trust Lionard with thatresponsibility."

"Ouch," said Lionard, shaking his head. "You should at least give me a reason, Penny."

"Because you're not smart enough."Used to Penny, Lionard shrugged. "The truth hurts.""I'll be with Penny," said George in declaration. "You four go on ahead without us.

We'll watch.""You sure, Georgie?" asked Heather, sticking her bottom lip out cutely."It's better that way," said George, indicating at the other group. "There's only four of

them.""I'll lead the way then," said the overly enthusiastic Lionard, skipping ahead.Over at the Pimp Juice end, the boys didn't discuss the rumor at hand amongst

themselves as much as their opposite did. On the contrary, they were completely silent,thanks to the news of Tristan. Monika had told Eddie about how Tristan was going to skip

school for a couple of days to stay with his grandmother in the hospital. Now, everyone inthe group knew about Tristan's situation. Even though Eddie and Parker were too busy to go,Zane and Abe had already made plans to see Tristan at the hospital and check on hisgrandmother's condition.

"On the bright side," said Eddie to Parker, who was walking next to him toward thecenter of the gym, where the Elites were waiting for them now. The other two were closebehind them. "If Tristan were here, he would never agree to this meeting. You know howmuch he hates nerds."

Parker nodded. "More so than anyone I know.""I hope Cash's leg mends soon," said Abe, frowning. "I miss him.""You only miss him because he's nice to you," said Eddie, shooting back at Abe.

Right when the two groups met up on opposite sides, Eddie scanned the members of the Elites quickly with his eyes. The only person he really knew from the group was Penny,but that was because he and Penny had had their share of confrontations in class freshmenyear. Since she refused to talk to him and stayed in the back, he did not recognize any of these people. Two boys looked Caucasian, but Eddie knew one of them was Jewish. Thethird boy was no doubt Indian. As for the lone girl, she appeared to be a mix.

"I'm Eddie Rice," said Eddie, holding out his hand.Lionard reached out for it before Arav. "Eddie, it's a pleasure to meet you in person

at last!"With a single glance from Arav, Michael and Heather went up to Lionard and tugged

him behind Arav. Now, Arav shook Eddie's hand. Since Arav was Indian and the President of

Science Club and Eddie was the Captain of the Varsity Basketball Team, the heightdifference was noticeable. The other members of the Elites felt tiny now in comparison tothe tall, strong Eddie and his boys.

"My name's Arav Kandula," said Arav fearlessly, releasing Eddie's hands. "And behindme are Lionard Levine, Michael Ellis, and Heather Collins."

Eddie glanced behind him at his obedient boys. "Parker, Zane, and Abe. Parker's theone next to me. Abe's the puny one. And Zane's the stupid Brit."

"They're good-looking," said Heather quietly to Michael.Michael scowled. "That's why they're dumb as shit."



"Why can't boys be both hot and smart?" asked Heather in exasperation."Because God is fair," said Michael, lifting a brow at her. "And even if there's a man

like that, he won't go for someone as flaming liberal as you.""Shut up you conservative pussie!""You liberals are a contradiction in itself!"The Pimp Juice boys stopped watching Eddie and Arav exchange introductions and at

Heather and Michael instead. Coming to their rescue, Lionard pushed the two bickeringfuture politicians away from the Pimp Juice boys. Grinning innocently, Lionard apologizedfor Heather and Michael.

"They're always like this," said Lionard, watching the two go at it without a care inthe world.

"Who gives a fuck about politics," said Eddie casually, smirking. "I don't even vote.""How old are you?" asked Lionard, jaw dropping."Nineteen," said Eddie simply, astounding Lionard. He turned to Arav with a serious

expression now. "What do you suggest we do about this Jordan affair?"Arav placed a hand on his chin thoughtfully. "He shouldn't pose much of a threat...""What do you mean by that, Arav?" asked Lionard curiously.

"He is no longer the most popular boy in school," said Arav, receiving a nod fromParker and Zane. "It is best to quickly dispose of him from your ranks, I suggest, before yourname gets even more tainted."

"He's not an object, Arav," said Lionard, laughing weakly."I am being objective," said Arav in respond to Lionard.Abe burst out laughing. "Objective. Nice one.""Parker, get rid of him," said Eddie without blinking an eye.In a matter of seconds, the four-member group of the Pimp Juice became two. Zane

knew it was best not to say anything and kept silent behind Eddie. Already, both groupswent from six to two. Lionard knew this was a horrible idea for them to talk and get along.It was impossible. They were made to be opposing forces in the school social system.

However, there was some hope for both of them. Arav and Eddie hadn't fought or saidanything menacing to one another. Like Penny had said earlier, both of them were actingmature and professional. Still, Lionard felt bad for Jordan for being disposed. Arav wasquite merciless when he wanted to be.

"We agree then?" asked Eddie at last to Arav after they were done discussing theirpoints.

"Agreed," said Arav with a firm nod. "First period is about to start. If you'll excuseme..."

Right after Arav strode away from Eddie, Lionard bounced next to the Indian andasked, "What's with you, Arav? You're acting strange."

Arav smiled sweetly at Lionard. "I can't forgive him."

"Who's 'him'?""Jordan," said Arav, lowering his eyes. "I can't forgive him for tricking Rin Hamada likethis..."

Lionard's eyes widened. "You don't know if that rumor's true or not.""Rumors have some truth to them, do they not?" asked Arav, lifting a brow at Lionard.Lionard was speechless. "Whether or not Jordan did anything to Rin Hamada doesn't

matter. It is the fact that there's even a relationship... a rumor between them at all thathas sealed the deal."

Lionard frowned. "Penny wants Rin Hamada to be the next Elites leader no matter



what, doesn't she?""It's been predetermined since a long time ago."At those words, Lionard turned his head around and watched the Pimp Juice boys

leave from the other exit. Abe waved at him from afar. Lionard waved back. He and Abehad been friends in junior high, but thanks to the high school environment, they hadn'tspoken to each other in years. They were simply not allowed to. Lionard hated the school

system, but he hadn't done anything about it... unlike Jezebelle and Jin. That was whyLionard was a Jin and Jezebelle supporter. He wanted change and he wanted it soon, evenat the expense of some people.

******************************************************************Overwhelmed by how much information people knew in such a short amount of time,

Rin had to put up a strong face as she passed by the other students staring and whisperingabout her. Thanks to Kristian not showing up at all, Jazz Band finished five minutes earlierthan usual. Since Rin wanted to be out of sight, she was walking as quickly as she couldtoward first period without making it look noticeable.

“Wait up Rin Hamada!”At a familiar voice, Rin turned around, only to meet Roselle. “Roselle...”

“Hey there,” said Roselle, smiling beautifully.Relieved at her reaction, Rin said gratefully, “Good morning.”“So... are you really not with my group leader anymore, Rin Hamada?” asked Roselle

bluntly as usual.“Oh,” said Rin, smiling weakly. “Yeah...”“Oh good! You're too awesome for him anyways!”Rin sighed. “No, it's the other way around.”“And about that other thing,” said Roselle, tilting her head. “What's the deal with

you and Jordan?”Right when Roselle asked that, Rin remembered how Roselle dated Jordan for about

a week before they broke up. Roselle had seemed so heartbroken after their breakup and

Jordan had run away from home on that very day. When Rin connected everything, she felteven more guilty for what she had done. Roselle was one of the few female friends she had,next to Sherry and Lydia. How could she do such a thing to Roselle?

“I...” said Rin painfully. “I don't know what to say...”“I'm with Grim now,” said Roselle, sticking her tongue out at Rin.“What? You are?”Roselle giggled playfully. “Yup! That's why you can tell me! I won't get mad!”“Actually, Jordan and I...”“Oh wait,” said Roselle, glancing over her shoulder at everyone watching them. “I'm

being nosy again like always. It's always me and my big mouth.” Rin was in awe at Roselle'ssudden change of mind. “Forget it, Rin Hamada. It doesn't matter.”

Rin lowered her eyes. “You're my friend... you should at least know the truth...”“Sometimes, it's better not to know,” said Roselle, quickening her pace and movingahead of Rin now. “Take care of Jordan for me though. He's not someone who can takerumors well, that crybaby.”

After Roselle disappeared around a corner, Rin stopped in her tracks and gawkedafter the other girl. Rin held her hand against her chest. How could she be thinking of herself at a time like this? Why was she feeling sorry for herself? Why was she so consciousof everyone's stares? She wasn't the only one who would suffer from this rumor.

“It's all my fault.”



At Jordan's voice ringing in her ear, Rin dashed across the school grounds. Sheignored everyone's whispers and stares and concentrated on getting to her first periodclass. Knowing Jordan, he would be there if he ever had to come to school early. He mustbe there, all alone. He shouldn't have to be there by himself.

“I'm the one who made you cheat on Kristian. I tried my hardest to help you guys,but instead, I only tore you guys apart. I was the third person. I was the one who ruined

everything.”Entering the building, Rin thought of that day again. Hadn't she said it herself? Shewas always the one who needed others' support and protection. She used Jin. She usedKristian. She used Bo and Vance. She used everyone around her whenever she was at herlimit. Because out of everyone she knew, she was the one who couldn't do anything byherself. Everyone around her knew this and supported her and she took advantage of thatall these years. But her relationship with Jordan was different. It was mutual.

“I need to protect you. I need to talk to you. You need me, Jordan, so don't doanything stupid.”

Because even though she needed Jordan, he needed her just as much. Rin stopped infront of the half-closed door to her first period. Since he was weak in math, she taught him

math. Since she was weak in English, he taught her skills in English. When he was emotionalover Jin, she comforted him to the best of her ability. He had done the same when she washeartbroken after Kristian. He helped her get back together with Kristian twice. She hadmade opportunities for him to get closer to Jin. They really were friends with emotionalbenefits to the very end.

Cooling down her nerves and breath, Rin was about to enter the classroom when anarm reached out and grabbed her in time. Rin turned around and widened her eyes to meetVance's pale, emotionless face. Usually, he would sit in the main office building and read inthe corner of the hallway until the warning bell. The warning bell hadn't rung yet and herehe was next to her.

“Vance...” said Rin, speechless.

Vance observed her face quickly. “The rumors are true then.”Reddening, Rin wondered if the words were written on her face. Vance read her sowell in a matter of seconds. However, Rin recovered and tried to act normal. She didn'twant to lie to Vance of all people, but at the same time, he had been a victim of herinsecure emotions. What should she do with him?

“How did you figure that?” asked Rin innocently, feigning a smile.“You're almost as pale as I,” said Vance, glancing away. “Therefore it is safe to

assume you hadn't slept much last night. From that, there is only one conclusion.”“Kristian and I broke up...” said Rin, feeling down about the breakup.Vance shrugged. “I warned you ahead of time.”“Have you head about the Jordan thing though?” asked Rin, wanting to hear Vance's

opinion on the issue.“I don't deal with personal business.”Rin gave a weak smile. “That's so like you.”“Aren't you going to go inside now?” asked Vance, indicating at the door.“Is that all you want to talk to me about?”Vance turned his back to her. “For the most part.”The minute Vance took a few steps away Rin instantly recalled why she had ran all

the way here in the first place. Since her breath was even now, Rin barged in the room andreleased a heavy sigh of relief at the sight of Jordan napping on top of his desk. Tiptoeing



behind him, Rin poked him in the back. Jordan jerked up and glared at her. He wasn'tfaking it for once.

“Ri-chan, why are you here already?” asked Jordan sleepily, sitting up straight.“Let's go,” said Rin, grabbing his arm.“Where?”“Home.”

“My home or your home?”Rolling her eyes, Rin said, “Our home.”“There's only two minutes before the warning bell,” said Jordan, checking the time

on his cell phone. “Why do I have to go back there now?”“Go home and stay home,” said Rin, trying her best to pull Jordan off his seat.“I don't want to ditch,” said Jordan in a whiny voice. Then, he blinked at the thought

of who he was talking to. “You of all people are telling me to ditch?” Rin nodded frantically.“Why? What's going on?”

Growing impatient, Rin kicked Jordan's chair and knocked him on the ground. If shemust, she had to drag him out of the classroom as soon as possible. She had to protect himor else, he might become suicidal again. Without explaining why, Rin began to drag him

across the floor. Jordan forced himself to stand up and grab her arm with a seriousexpression on his face.“Listen here,” said Jordan, humorless. “What's going on?”“Everyone knows.”“About?”Rin glanced away with a sad look on her face. “About us.”“What?” asked Jordan, lost.Before Rin could explain and get Jordan out of the classroom in time, everyone

decided to barge in the classroom at the same time. The warning bell just rung too.Jennifer and the rest of the Asian girls of their grade smirked at the sight of Rin and Jordantogether. Worst of all, Jordan was in the middle of grabbing Rin's arm.

“On school grounds too?” asked one of the girls, observing Rin closely.“It's not what you think,” said Jordan quickly, glancing over in Rin's direction.“I don't understand, Jordan Greene,” said another girl. “You have all these girls

who'll go out with you in a heartbeat. Why do you have to pick Kristian's girlfriend?”Jennifer tapped her fingers against her arm. “I thought you have better taste than

that, Jordan Greene. You're a ten. She's a five.”“Not only that, Jennifer,” said one of the girls next to her. “They've hated each other

for years. What is with this cliché love-turn-hate relationship?”“Shut up, all of you,” said Rin fiercely, deciding to act like Roselle. It worked for her

so why not try it? “Mind your own business!”“And she's rude too,” said one of the girls, sneering.

on it. “I'm going to my seat now. You ignore them.”Jordan watched as Rin went around the table and sat down across from him with her

arms across her chest. Even though both he and Rin had been in situations like this before,they had never been in one together like this. Was Rin being strong for his sake? Was shepretending that these words were not bugging her? For Jordan, he felt terrible. He really



couldn't take much more of this.Cash entered the classroom soon after and grinned at Jordan, “Good job, Jordan.”“I know something is up when you're congratulating me,” said Jordan at Cash.“You're despicable,” said Wendy, hiding behind Cash when they first entered. She had

a piercing glare directed toward Jordan. “You're a despicable person, Jordan.”Jordan dropped his eyes. “I know I am...”

“I'm leaving,” said Wendy, turning her eyes to Cash. “I can't stand being in the sameclassroom as him.”Staring after Wendy, Jordan felt like his mood took a dive for the worst. Even in the

past, he couldn't take it when a girl he had once been close to said something mean to him.If any of the other girls he had been with were to come up to him and say the things Wendysaid, he wouldn't be able to take it anymore. He took the words of people close to himmore seriously than the rest of the school population.

“Ignore them,” said Rin as an order right after Cash sat down next to Jordan.Jordan sighed. “Easier said than done...”Thankfully, after Rin's outburst earlier, no one else from Spanish confronted either of

them. As for Jin, he watched them closely from the table far back. On his way to school,

Jin had heard all about the rumors about his two best friends. He had told as many peopleas he could to not talk about it. For the most part, they listened. Still, that wasn't the realproblem to Jin. The real problem was that nothing had changed from back when Rin andKristian got together at the beginning of the semester. What had he been doing all thistime? Had he changed anything at all?

“I just don't get it, Fi,” said Jin, addressing his concerns during nutrient after pickingJezebelle up from second period.

Jezebelle smirked at him. “Have you forgotten why you're in this position in the firstplace already?”

“Of course not!” said Jin, surprised.“Isn't it to help Jordan?” asked Jezebelle, fluttering her eyelashes.

“Er... yes...”Jezebelle was amused. “You should be satisfied that I did the work for you.”Stopping in his tracks, Jin turned his head to Jezebelle, “You're the one behind this?”“Who else?” asked Jezebelle, flinging her hair backwards. “How many people do you

know about Jordan and Rinny's affair? It's either me or Shiratori who spread the rumors.”“Why?” asked Jin, shocked.“I told you already,” said Jezebelle, rolling her eyes. “Your original goal was to make

Jordan Greene unpopular in order to save him. With this rumor, your goal is set. You'vetaken his place and he's never going to get up there again with the Pimp Juice and thePopulars deserting him.”

“They are?” asked Jin innocently.

“Wouldn't you after this?” asked Jezebelle in retort.Jin frowned. “Jordan's all alone then...”“No, he's not,” said Jezebelle, widening her smirk. “He has Rinny now.”“Wait a second,” said Jin, turning his attention back to Jezebelle. “It doesn't excuse

the fact that you've used such an underhanded method to achieve this, Fi. You know how Ifeel about you using tactics like this.”

“Your method is too slow and boring,” said Jezebelle, pretending to yawn.“Fi,” said Jin, impatient. “Do you know how much suffering Rin-chan and Jordan

must be going through right now because of you?”



“Does it matter?” asked Jezebelle, lifting a lofty brow. “You accomplished what youset out to do.”

“I don't want to achieve it like this!”Jezebelle glared at Jin. “Stop being such a drama queen.”Jin had a hurt look on his face. “I'm upset because I explicitly told you not to do this

from the beginning, Fi. I want to change the school my own way.”

“And what has changed?” asked Jezebelle cruelly, placing her right hand on her hip.“You're sitting where Jordan used to be. That's it. The Populars and the Pimp Juice are stillat the top. The nerds and other outcasts are still being picked on. People from differentgroups still can't be friends with each other. What have you really done, Jin?”

Speechless, Jin lowered his eyes. “I'm not sure...”“You don't understand,” said Jezebelle, moving in closer to Jin. “You can't expect

miracles to happen. People won't stop discriminating any time soon, either.” Jin kept hissilence. “Sure, you've helped a handful of people so far with their social problems, but howcan you manage to get to everyone by the end of your senior year? Do you really have thetime to take this slowly?” Jezebelle laughed and shook her head. “Have you forgottenalready that we had to use risky methods to make you the most popular person in school?

Why can't you do that to change the school?”“I agree that we should work faster,” said Jin at last. “But your methods are tooextreme. Besides, it's at the expense of hurting others...”

Out of the blue, Jezebelle burst out laughing. “You think high school is harsh?” Jinnodded, dumbfounded by her attitude. “You have no idea, darling. No idea at all. Do youknow what the real world outside of high school is like?” Jin shook his head in response. “Atleast in high school, it is only your reputation on the line. In the work place, for example,there's money involved. People will cheat, steal, lie, and so much more to get a better paycheck.” Jezebelle shrugged innocently. “These kids have to be prepared for the real worldearly. At least, they have around eighteen years to do it, unlike me.”

“Fi, I'm sorry to hear that,” said Jin, frowning at her.

“I didn't say that for pity,” said Jezebelle harshly. “My point is that your two friendswill get through this just fine. They'll be better prepared for life outside of high school.They'll become stronger people thanks to this incident.”

Jin gave in. “I hope so... or else I'll never forgive either of us.”“Of course,” said Jezebelle, pouting. “When am I ever wrong?”At that question, Jin couldn't say anything. He simply smiled sweetly in respond.

*******************************************************************Nervously, Rin poked her head over the wall to check the field. The Korean Posse

were all there along with the rest of the Button Cuties. Since Bo was there, Rin decidedagainst meeting up with her group. Knowing Sherry and Lydia, they would not bully her likethe rest of the school. As for Felicia and especially Odette, she was expecting harsh

remarks. Sighing, Rin turned around and went the opposite direction. Usually, if shecouldn't see her group, she could at least hang out with Kristian. She doubted Cory andGary would welcome her now after what happened. Where should she go?

Passing by a group of cheerleaders who hung out in front of the girls' locker room,they stopped talking at the sight of Rin. Instead, they watched Rin with interest. Sensingdanger, Rin hurried on her way. However, much to her dismay, the cheerleaders followedher. Giving up, Rin slowed down. She wasn't going to speak to them. She wasn't going toturn around. She had to keep going as if she hadn't noticed anything.

Then, something happened. Rin felt something on her backpack. Now, she had no



choice but to stop and check. After she took off her backpack, she noticed that there wasorange juice all over it. One of the cheerleaders smiled cruelly at Rin before she droppedher carton of orange juice. Rin frantically wiped her backpack when another cheerleaderdropped her bowl of chicken salad on Rin's back. Still, even with this attack, Rin bit her lipto stop herself from fighting back.

"Hamada-sama?"

At Bo's question, Rin scrambled up to her feet and ran the opposite direction, takingher backpack with her in time. The cheerleaders laughed at Rin as they went back to theirspot. Bo blinked. When did Rin start avoiding him? Lowering his eyes, Bo noticed thechicken salad and the carton. Everything connected. Bo frowned and turned his head to thecheerleaders. Since he was part of the Varsity football team, he knew these girls well.

"Girls," said Bo, staring at them. "What did you do?"As for Rin, she kept running as fast as she could in the opposite direction, away from

Bo. Even though she told herself that she would tell Bo today that she couldn't be with himanymore, she had no courage to right now. Not when her clothes smelled like salad dressingand her backpack smelled like oranges. Panting, Rin found herself in front of the boys' gymnow. This made her realize that she must have ran across the huge field of grass to get

here. With no time to lose, Rin went up to the closest water fountain and used it to washher hands.Right when Rin washed her hands, Jordan came out from behind the gym where he

usually hid. At the sight of Rin washing her hands frantically, Jordan wondered what hadhappened to her. Everyone must have been giving her a hard time because of him. Whensecond period was over, Jordan had snuck here to hide. This made Jordan wonder whatRin had been doing instead. Approaching her now, Jordan noticed the stain on her shirt.

"Ri-chan," said Jordan, making Rin jerk up slightly. "What happened?"Rin held back the tears. "It's nothing.""For a nerd, you're not very bright," said Jordan, walking over and grabbing a hold of

her wrist. "This water fountain won't do. Come with me."

"Where are you taking me?" asked Rin, trying to free herself from Jordan's grip."Somewhere safe."Hiding behind a wall, Jordan and Rin waited until one of the coaches left the gym.

Jordan dashed for the door and grabbed it in time. Holding it open for Rin, both of themwent inside. At first, Rin thought he wanted to take her to the gym so she headed towardone of the bleachers. However, this wasn't the case because Jordan dragged her acrossthe entire gym instead. This was when Rin understood where Jordan was taking her.

"I can't go in there," said Rin, blushing bright red. They were standing in front of ablue door. "That's the boys' locker room!"

"No one's in there around this time," said Jordan, lifting a brow."I'm a girl Jordan! I'm not allowed in there!"

Jordan sighed. "It's just like any other locker room. You worry too much.""But!"Jordan wouldn't take no as an answer as he opened the door and pushed her inside

ahead of him. Shaking from top to bottom, Rin observed her surroundings nervously. LikeJordan said, it looked exactly like the girls' locker room except with darker colors. Jordanlaughed at her reaction before he led her to his and Jin's locker. While she sat on thebench, he used his combination to open his locker.

"Why did you bring me here?" asked Rin softly."For this," said Jordan, handing her a bag. He took it from inside his locker. "You can



wear this.""What is this?" asked Rin, staring at the bag."My basketball jersey," said Jordan, smiling at her."I can't wear it," said Rin, blushing bright red.Jordan crouched in front of her. "Why not?""It's..." said Rin, thinking of an excuse. "It's too big."

"You'll look adorable in it, then," said Jordan, grinning up at her.Rin glanced away. "Are you sure?"Nodding, Jordan urged her on. "Wear it, Ri-chan. You're starting to smell like Ranch

dressing."Pouting, Rin removed the jersey from inside the bag and stared at it for a bit. This

was an official basketball uniform. What did she expect? Jordan was on the VarsityBasketball team. How could she possibly wear this for the rest of the day? Everyone inschool knew about their affair already. If she wore this now, it would only confirm it. Itwould be like wearing a huge sign that there really was something going on between them.

"I can't," said Rin, lowering the jersey. "Everyone will talk.""They're not going to change their minds any time soon," said Jordan, putting his

hand on top of her knee. Rin sighed. "We're not going to be safe from their verbal attacksno matter what we do, Ri-chan. At the very least, with this jersey, you'll be safe from theirphysical attacks. No one would dare to dirty this uniform."

"Jordan..." said Rin, staring at Jordan. "It's so very sad.""What is?""That we have to be afraid of them like this," said Rin, lowering her head and

clasping her hands on top of her lap. Jordan moved his hand from her knee to on top of herhands. "Jordan, if I wear this jersey, you must promise me something."

"Yes?" asked Jordan, curious.Rin frowned. "I'll endure this by myself. I can't let anyone else defend or side with

me."

"Not even Jin?""Yes. Not even Jin. Especially not Jin."Jordan stared at her for a long time before he said, "Are you sure?""Absolutely," said Rin, gazing at Jordan intently. "I deserve this.""No, you don't," said Jordan, gaping."Yes, I do," said Rin, hardening her eyes. "I deserve what is happening to me. I want

to take on everything alone.""But why?" asked Jordan, confused."It's not like they made a fake rumor about us," said Rin in explanation. "I am guilty

for this. I am the one who cheated on Kristian emotionally. If this is the school's punishmentfor being an unfaithful girlfriend, I deserve every last bit of this."

"Ri-chan, you don't understand," said Jordan, shaking her hands. "It's not the same atall. The rumor is that we slept together, and you know as well as I do that we did no suchthing." Rin sighed. "This is not a real rumor."

"You said it, didn't you?" asked Rin in interruption. "No matter what we say, they'renot going to listen. They already made their minds up about us." Jordan dropped his head inforfeit. "Who cares if it's physical or emotional? The point is I've been unfaithful. They knowI've been unfaithful. I cheated therefore..." Rin teared up. "They can throw as manyoranges as they like. I'll endure it."

"That's bull shit," said Jordan, angry. He released her hands and stood up straight.



"I'm the one who made you cheat in the first place. I should be the one receiving thepunishment."

"Are you stupid?" asked Rin, outraged. "You're not strong enough." Jordan glancedaway, bitter. "I'll protect you. My reputation went down the drain a long time ago. I don'tneed yours to go down with me."

"You can't decide that for me," said Jordan, leaning down toward her with fierce

eyes. "I can do whatever the hell I want with my reputation."Rin shot up to her feet, dropping the jersey on the ground on top of the bag."Jordan!"

"Listen," said Jordan assertively. "If I have to lose my popularity some way or another,at least I want to lose it doing something I feel strongly about." Rin's eyes widened. "Even if time were to turn back, I would have done the same. I would have made you cheat onKristian with me. I don't regret it one bit. It's selfish, but I don't. I mean..." Jordan tossedher a helpless look. "Do you regret it?"

Surprised at his upfront question, Rin lowered her voice, "No, not at all.""I see.""If I regretted my decision, I wouldn't let them throw things at me without fighting

back," said Rin, leaning down to pick up the jersey and the bag. "It's not like the time whenKristian and I got together. We hadn't done anything wrong, but everyone looked down on usanyways. This time is different. This time, they are right. I'm in the wrong."

"How can you be in the wrong when it's something you don't regret?" asked Jordan,lifting a brow.

Rin blinked. "Because it's morally wrong.""In other words," said Jordan, sitting down on the bench. "You don't think it's wrong.

It's everyone else who labels it as such, and you agree with the public's opinion. Yet, even if it's wrong, you don't regret it."

"Yes," said Rin, nodding and sitting down as well. "That's it.""Don't you think I feel the same?" asked Jordan suddenly, surprising Rin. "I mean I feel

bad about it because of Kristian, but if I truly ask myself whether I think it's right or wrong,I believe I've done the right thing. I have no regrets, not even after everyone staring andtalking behind my back. That's how strongly I feel about it."

"I know..." said Rin in agreement."Then, why shouldn't I be able to take the blame with you?" asked Jordan, bumping

his shoulder against Rin's head.Touched, Rin smiled at him, "Jordan...""I agree with you. Let's not get anyone else involved. We should endure everything by

ourselves.""But you're not ready-"Jordan shook his head. "Actually, contrary to what you believe, I actually feel

different about myself now.""Really?""I don't know why but," said Jordan, shrugging. "You going through that hard time

with Kristian changed a lot of my views on people... on life... on myself. I'm actually madat myself for believing that my problems are the only ones that exist in the world. I'm sopitiful."

"You've grown Jordan," said Rin, smiling timidly."Not as much as you," said Jordan, laughing and ruffling her hair. "I can't believe you

actually said you'll take on the school alone. Come on, Ri-chan. It's one thing to be brave.



It's a whole different issue to be so foolish." Rin managed to release a short laugh. "Hey, if you have to suffer, might as well drag me with you. You can't have an affair with one personright?"

"Right," said Rin in agreement."That settles it then," said Jordan, standing on his feet once more. "You should

change into my jersey before nutrition is over." Jordan smiled sweetly down at her. "If we

believe we're in the right, we shouldn't be ashamed of something as trivial as you wearingmy jersey."Rin laughed again and nodded. "Okay. You turn around then.""Yes, I know," said Jordan, turning around and staring at the locker instead. "Just

letting you know, Ri-chan, you're as much of a friend to me as Jin is. Friends should sticktogether through hard times, more so when we're both guilty."

Rin took off her shirt and glanced in Jordan's direction. "We're really friends now,aren't we?"

"I hope so.""We are," said Rin in agreement. "We're best friends. Forever. Us two and Jin.""Exactly."

Behind Jordan, Rin wore the jersey on quickly. Like she expected, it was twice hersize, but it didn't matter. Since it was washed yesterday in her washer and dryer, it smelledsoapy nice. It was soft and comfortable too. More importantly, it was a symbol of theirfriendship. To the whole school, it might be a declaration of their affair out loud. But in thislocker room, to both of them, it was the confirmation of their friendship.

*****************************************************************Right after Jin parted ways with Jezebelle after the bell, he rushed to third period

with thoughts of Jordan. If Jezebelle deemed this important enough to get herself involved,she would make sure Jordan suffered... enough to not be popular ever again. Even thoughJin was semi-happy that Jezebelle had done this for his sake, he felt horrible for Jordan,who had a hard enough time with rumors since forever ago. He had no idea that his

girlfriend would hurt his friend behind his back. No matter what now, he had to doeverything in his power to lessen Jordan's suffering.Much to Jin's surprise, he noticed Jordan and Bo talking to one another on the way to

third period instead. Curious, Jin went up to them, only to see a frown on Bo's face. Therewas rarely a frown on Bo's face. Taken aback by this, Jin kept his distance from them. Whatshould he do? Should he listen in on their conversation or walk away? Better yet, should hejoin in and resolve whatever problems they were talking about? But was that too nosy?

“Bo, listen,” said Jordan shyly, glancing away. “About Ri-chan...”“What have you done with Hamada-sama?” asked Bo in a serious voice.Jordan dropped his head. “That is between Ri-chan and me... I can't tell you.” Bo

didn't say anything so Jordan continued, “Ri-chan wants to stop being friends with you.”

“Why?” asked Bo, putting on a fake grin. “Is it because you can protect her better?”“That's not why at all,” said Jordan helplessly. He couldn't read Bo's thoughts at all.“If she really wishes that,” said Bo suddenly, turning away with a pleasant look on his

face. It was almost a sign of defeat. “I'll obey her. That's my duty.”“You're not even going to ask why?” asked Jordan, speechless.Bo widened his grin. “I do not question her decision.”“That's why I want to tell you this,” said Jordan quickly, remembering why he had

searched for Bo in the first place before they went in third period together. “Ri-chandoesn't want to lead you on when she doesn't have any feelings for you. That's why she



doesn't want to be friends anymore. That's why she's avoiding you. Of course, you know howshe is. She can't go out and tell you that.”

Blinking, Bo rubbed his chin thoughtfully, “She is as slow as ever I see.”“She is?” asked Jordan, uncertain.“I wonder if Hamada-sama knows that I've already known for a long time now,” said

Bo, peaking Jordan's curiosity. “That she doesn't have feelings for me.”

Jordan accidentally gasped. “You knew?”“But of course,” said Bo, chuckling. “I'm very attentive to Hamada-sama. If she likesme back, I'll be the first one to know.” Bo paused and tossed Jordan a thoughtful look. “Noteven for a second do I stay by her side and protect her for the sole purpose of hoping she'lllike me back one day. That is not my role to play.”

“You really do like her then,” said Jordan, sighing.Bo shrugged his backpack higher over his shoulder. “I love her out of my own free will

without asking anything from her. I protect her because I made a promise with Jin. If shedoesn't want to be friends, that's fine with me. I'll continue to protect her no matter what.”

“She has such wonderful friends,” said Jordan out of envy.“So,” said Bo, returning to his playful self. “Did you tell me everything for Hamada-

sama or for yourself? I'm touched either way.”Jordan took a step back from Bo. “I had completely forgotten about that.”“I don't believe you cheated with Hamada-sama by the way,” said Bo, approaching

Jordan with a wide grin. “If you do want to try it in the future though, you have to call andinvite me. I'll be more than happy to join in your threesome.”

“No... thank you.”Bo watched Jordan ran off in a hurry for a few seconds before he asked loudly after

the Caucasian boy, “You do know we have the same third period class right, Jordan?” Rightwhen Bo turned around, he noticed Jin standing nearby. “Hey Jin.”

“That promise was from two years ago,” said Jin in awe. He couldn't help hiscuriosity any longer and listened to the last part of their conversation. “I had almost

completely forgotten about it.”“It's fine, Jin,” said Bo, patting Jin on the shoulder. “You're a busy person.”“I'm sorry, Bo,” said Jin, lowering his eyes.Chuckling, Bo wrapped his arm across Jin's shoulders and walked him to third period

before they were both late. Once class started, Jordan began napping, though most of thestudents' eyes were on him. They were whispering and talking about him again. It seemedthat no matter where he went, Jordan would be the center of attention. Jin wanted to saysomething to defend his friend, but Jordan hadn't reacted or done anything in response.Actually, on the other hand, it seemed like Jordan was soaking in their words and shruggingit off mentally. Unable to decide what was going on with Jordan, Jin had to ask Jordanhimself.

“Jordan,” said Jin, laying his head on the table. “Are you really napping?”Jordan lifted his head up immediately. “Hey Jin.”“How are you?” asked Jin, concerned.“I'm good,” said Jordan with a tender smile. He hide the fact that his heart was

beating rapidly at how intently Jin was staring at him. “I'm adjusting to sleeping on theground of Ri-chan's room, but otherwise, everything is marvelous.”

Jin blinked. “You don't mind the rumors, Jordan?”“I do mind them,” said Jordan honestly. “And the people.” Jordan sighed and shook

his head. “But let them say what they want. It's not like I don't deserve it for getting



involved with Ri-chan and Kristian in the first place.”“Jordan...” said Jin, frowning at the other boy.Jordan tried to smile. “Thanks to both you and Ri-chan supporting me, I won't let

rumors bother me that much anymore. I'll try to endure it.”“If you want to talk about anything, I'm here.”“Thanks, Jin,” said Jordan, placing his head on top of his arm. “I know you're a busy

person though, so I'll keep my sulking to a minimum.” Jin felt empty all of a sudden atJordan's words. “Besides, I have my pet to keep me company. You know how thoserelationships are. Pets guard and protect their masters while their masters provide themwith love and a home. It's a mutual contract without involving other people.”

“Poor Jin,” said Bo, appearing out of nowhere behind them. The other two jerkedslightly up in their seats. “It's Jordan's way of saying that he doesn't want you to join thethreesome Hamada-sama, Jordan, and I are about to have.”

“What?” asked Jin, surprised.Jordan raised his head up again. “Bo... stop putting words in my mouth.”“That's not all I want to put in your mouth,” said Bo, edging in closer to Jordan.“The fuck? Get away from me!”

Because the class had the whole period to work on their homework before the testthis Wednesday, Bo had moved over to join them in finishing their Calculus homework. Jincould tell that Bo was over here to distract Jordan from everyone else in the class. Of course, thanks to Bo harassing Jordan the entire time, none of them got any work done.Actually, Jin didn't even try to take a look at his homework or stop his two friends forarguing. Instead, he was thinking to himself about what had been going on around him.

“What is wrong with me?” asked Jin in his head. “Bo and Rin-chan have forgiven mefor what I've done. Fi and I are on pretty good terms. Jordan is a much stronger person thanbefore and is losing his popularity. And yet...” Jin watched Jordan fall out of his chair as Bochuckled in amusement. “I feel lonelier than I've ever been this entire semester.”

“Jin?” asked Jordan, noticing how quiet Jin had been for the entire third period.

The bell rang right on time to save Jin, who got up and said quickly, “I'm fine. I havea lot on my mind.”“About?” asked Bo curiously.“About college,” said Jin quickly, picking up his backpack. “I'll see you later Jin.”Jordan heaved his backpack over his shoulder. “Jin, wait up!”Right after both boys left, Bo grinned to himself, “Jin is human after all.”Even though right after fourth period Jordan wanted to talk to Jin, Jin dodged the

other boy and escaped the classroom the minute the bell rang. Jordan was about to chaseafter Jin to ask what was going on since Jin was acting strange when he was confronted bythe members of the Pimp Juice. Jordan gulped down and stood firmly against them. He wasafraid of them. He had always been afraid of what they would do to him if he refused to

listen. However, this time, he wanted to be with Jin.“I'm busy, so can't this wait until basketball practice?” asked Jordan, shaking slightly.“I'll be quick,” said Eddie coldly, staring sternly at Jordan. “It's about your declining

popularity and what you mean to both us and the Populars.”Jordan clutched tightly against his backpack. “What about it?”“You're being replaced.”“I thought I had already been replaced by Jin a long time ago.”Shaking his head, Eddie continued, “You don't get it, Jordan Greene. There's no need

for you anymore.” Jordan stared at Eddie, unable to respond. “You're out of our circle



officially. You can't talk to us, the Populars, or any of the higher ups anymore. Do you get itnow, Jordan Greene?”

“Vic...” said Jordan automatically, thinking of Victoria.“She's in the Populars, so she counts too.”“Why does this sound so familiar?” asked Jordan under his breath, thinking.“Oh,” said Eddie, smirking. “Remember that outcast Bailey Bambridge?”

Jordan's eyes widened. “I remember that day. This happened with Bailey too.”“You should say hi to her and her illegal immigrant of a boyfriend for us,” said Eddie,leaving with the other members of the Pimp Juice in an orderly manner.

Jordan stood there and stared at the ground. He wasn't sure what to do anymore. Hewas an ordinary student now, stripped of his power and status. For whatever reason, hewasn't sad or happy. Actually, he wasn't quite sure how to react to all of this happening atonce. In that hallway, everyone was still making fun of him. Everyone was still looking athim with such cruel eyes. Everyone was still laughing at him behind his back. In addition,Jin was nowhere in sight either.

“Vic... Jin...” said Jordan, falling on his knees. “I... can't... breathe...”**************************************************

Over at the tennis courts, Jin held onto the fence for support. He watched Jezebellepractice her serve for her tennis match later today. Xuan Lan and her other freshmenfriends were practicing on the court next to hers. On the third court, Grim and Roselle werepracticing together too. After Jezebelle finished her basket of tennis balls, she went up toJin from the other side of the fence. He had a sad expression on his face. Taken backsomewhat, Jezebelle went about the court to pick up the tennis balls. Once she was done,she left the courts and sat down with him on the benches.

“If you want to be useful, apple cake,” said Jezebelle, rolling her eyes. “You shouldgrab your racket and practice with me.”

“Fi,” said Jin, keeping his eyes on the ground. “I only have you left.”Jezebelle lifted a brow. “That's reassuring.”

“I'm not joking around,” said Jin in a lowered voice. “I'm losing all my friends.”“Is that all?” asked Jezebelle, blinking.“What do you mean that's all?” asked Jin, gaping at her.“I hate to break it to you but,” said Jezebelle, leaning toward him with her hands on

his lap. “This happens to all the others. You're no different from the others, Jin.”“The others?”“The most popular boy or girl in any school.”Jin glanced away. “I know, but I haven't really thought about it until today.”“It's not that new of a concept,” said Jezebelle with her long, blonde hair falling

against his shirt. She was that close to him now. “Once you're popular, you begin to loseyour old friends. You begin to make new friends. You become everyone's Jin instead. You

can't just be there for your friends anymore. You have to be there for everyone.”“That is what they mean by me being busy,” said Jin under his breath.“You should be proud of yourself,” said Jezebelle, placing her right hand on his

shoulder. “You managed to free Jordan from that lonely position. Sure, you might lose acouple of people along the way, but think about all those students you're helping besidesJordan. It's not time to wuss out and give up.”

Jin stared intently at Jezebelle. “It feels like everyone but my friends need me.”“That's fine,” said Jezebelle, urging him on and rubbing his shoulder. “It means they

manage to take care of themselves without you. You should be more than happy.”



“That's true,” said Jin in awe of Jezebelle's logic. “I must sound so selfish thinking of only myself then...”

“You think of other people way too much for your own good anyways.”Jin beamed and pulled Jezebelle into a hug since she was so close to his body

anyways. “No matter what happens, at least I have you, Fi. You are always by my side. Youalways help me out, even when I don't ask for it.” Jin pressed her harder. “You need me,

maybe not emotionally, but financially is good enough for me.”“If you know that fully well,” said Jezebelle, smirking without Jin seeing. “You'llcontinue your goal as usual, right? Just because you're feeling a little lonely, you're notgoing to stop what we've been working so hard for and go running back to your friends,”Jezebelle climbed smoothly onto Jin's lap. “Right?”

“I haven't changed the school system, yet,” said Jin firmly. “I won't lose.”“Good,” said Jezebelle, wrapping her arms around Jin's neck and sliding up. Jin was

slightly taken aback. “Good boy.”“Fi?”Before they were about to kiss, they heard a loud, rude cough. Jin blushed and

hurriedly pushed Jezebelle off. The person who interrupted them was none other than

Vance. Because it was Vance, Jin glared and demanded what the pale boy wanted.“I've been running around the school looking for you,” said Vance, unaffected bywhat he saw. “Jordan Greene is in the Nurse's Office and Rin wants you to know that.”

Jin's eyes widened in horror. “Jordan!”With that exclamation, Jin picked up his backpack and dashed off. Vance followed

behind Jin. Jezebelle sat up straight and crossed her legs with a smug expression on herface. She had a feeling that something like this might happen to Jordan, but she hadn'texpected him to actually collapse in school or anything like that. Even though Jin wanted tomake Jordan less popular to free him, Jezebelle's cause wasn't as noble. She wanted Jordanout of the way completely because he was an eyesore to her.

“He is the opposite of everything I believe in,” thought Jezebelle, hardening her eyes

at the thought. “He's weak. He's powerless. He can't do shit by himself. He would onlyhinder what I envision.” Jezebelle rocked herself on top of the bench when she noticedRoselle leaving the courts and said out loud, “If it isn't the future novelist Roselle.”

“You're not practicing?” asked Roselle, pleasantly surprised.Jezebelle smirked. “Roselle, you're visiting Shiratori after school, right?”“Who says?” asked Roselle, scowling. “Why would I visit that ass of a leader?”“Great to hear,” said Jezebelle, getting off the bench and landing on her feet. “I'll

come with you. There's something I want to discuss with Shiratori.”**********************************************************

Laying on the provided bed in the office, Jordan knew there was nothing wrong withhim. He had just had a mental breakdown for a second. He had always wanted to not be

popular anymore. He had always dreamed of this day. Since he had been popular for so longand hung with the same type of people, though, he had reacted horribly to his dismissal. Hecould no longer act and talk the same way with Victoria for example. Why was he tremblingevery time he thought of that? No, it wasn't Victoria. There was someone else.

“Jordan,” said Rin, returning to the office. “Vance is looking for Jin right now. He'llbe here in a second.” Jordan kept his silent, so Rin continued, “There are a couple of otherpeople who want to see you too. They're worried about you.”

“I'm fine,” said Jordan in a defeated tone. “I'm sorry for causing so much trouble.”Rin blinked, confused. “What happened anyway?”



“I told myself to be strong for your sake,” said Jordan, gazing at his jersey on Rin'sbody right now. “I mean, for our sake and not to bother Jin. But...”

“But what?”“But to not be able to talk to him like normal anymore because I've been kicked out

of the Populars,” said Jordan, curling into a ball on the bed. “It hurts so much. The thoughtof not being close friends with Jin.”

“I'm not popular,” said Rin reasonably. “And I talk to him just fine.”“You're a different case, Ri-chan.”“How?” asked Rin in a demanding voice.Jordan sighed. “Your high school life is not controlled by the Pimp Juice boys.”“Fight back against them,” said Rin, smirking darkly.“You know Tristan from the football team?” asked Jordan, shaking his head. “He can

break me in two in less than a minute. I want to be whole, thank you.”“You like Jin, don't you?” asked Rin, glaring now. She slammed her hands on top of

his bed. “If you really love Jin, you should be able to fight for him, even against someonelike Tristan. You should maintain your friendship.”

“I think about him all the time and I like him very much,” said Jordan in agreement.

“Then fight!”“But,” said Jordan, frowning at Rin. “Why should I fight when I have no chanceagainst Jezebelle in the first place?”

Rin's eyes widened. “I told you already. She's leaving in a year.”“He'll be loyal to her, even after a year.”“You don't know that for sure!”Jordan glanced away. “You know Jin better than I do, Ri-chan. You know he will.”At his words, Rin lowered her eyes. She knew fully well that she was giving Jordan

false hope. If it were Jin, he would be loyal to Jezebelle forever. After a year, he would stilllove her even if they stopped communicating completely. Despite all the impossibilities, Rindidn't want Jordan to give up. If he kept trying, at least he would have a tiny chance. If he

gave up now, he would have none.“Ri-chan, there's something I've been hiding from you for a while now,” said Jordan,noticing Jin entering the Nurse's Office with a concerned expression on his face. “Jin wantsus to get together.”

“Why?” asked Rin, shocked.“He believes I have feelings for you,” said Jordan, sighing and keeping his eyes on

Jin, who just spotted Jordan.“You should correct him and confess your feelings for him instead,” said Rin, shaking

her head at Jordan. “I'm sure that Jin won't reject you because he's Jin and-”Without warning, Jordan reached up to Rin and pulled her down to him with his arm

behind her neck. At the door, Jin stopped in his tracks at the sight he saw from behind Rin.

At Jin's angle, it looked like Jordan just kissed Rin. Jin couldn't say or do anything at thesight of his two best friends like this. He shouldn't interrupt them.In the past, he had always worried about Bo and Rin getting together and leaving him

out. He had never had the same worries when it came to Jordan and Rin because, whenJordan had gotten closer to Rin, she was still with Kristian. Even though he had encouragedJordan, somewhere deep inside, Jin had believed that Jordan and Rin would never happen.One day, when he changed the school system, he, Jordan, Bo, and Rin would be able tobecome friends and stay together forever. Everyone would be friends and friends only. Atthe sight of Rin wearing Jordan's jersey, alone, Jin felt like this dream could never happen.



It wasn't possible anymore.“Jin,” said Jordan, moving his face away from Rin. He managed to hold his face an

inch away from hers. For a second, Rin thought Jordan was going to kiss her so her face wasbright red. “I'm fine. I was dizzy from the sun.”

Jin nodded weakly. “Oh... that's good to hear...”“Since you're here,” said Jordan, smiling brightly at Jin. “May I steal Ri-chan away

from you?” Jordan chuckled at Rin gawking at him. “I'm joking. Don't take it seriously, guys.We'll be best friends forever, right?”“Of course,” said Rin, uncertain now.“Why...” said Jin with a horrified expression. Rin and Jordan shifted their attention

to Jin. Jin took a step back. “Why...”“Jin?” asked Rin, blinking.“Are you okay, Jin?” asked Jordan worriedly.“I'm sorry,” said Jin, smacking his hand against his tearing eyes. He couldn't let the

other two him crying. “I'm really sorry. I'm getting a headache. I'll be right back.”“Wait Jin!”“I'll be fine by myself,” said Jin hurriedly, running out of the room.

Dumbfounded, Rin glanced over in Jordan's direction. Jordan felt his heart beatingrapidly in his chest at the image of Jin's expression in his head. He had only made thatmove on Rin earlier because he had thought that it was the right thing to do at the time. If Jin thought he and Rin were together, he would give them his blessings and then wouldstopped talking to them as much. This way, Jordan wouldn't be in trouble with the PimpJuice boys nor Jin with the Populars. They were no longer in the same part of the foodchain anymore. They would keep their distance. More importantly, Jin would not lose any of his popularity. Jordan had resigned in giving Jin that spot. The least he could do was stayout of Jin's way. Since he loved Jin, he didn't want to oppose Jin anymore.

“I got kicked out of my group,” said Jordan in repetition, gaining Rin's attention. “Jinis the leader of the Populars. He is the leader of the entire school. I'm no longer suitable to

be his best friend, not if I have this rumor hanging over my head. If I stay by his side, I willonly tarnish his perfect reputation.”“That's why I told you I'll endure the rumor by myself!” said Rin, angry.“I'm not taking back what I said to you,” said Jordan in a firm voice, surprising Rin. “I

already made up my mind about everything, Ri-chan. If you're my best friend, I hope youabide to my wishes. We should get along for Jin's sake.”

“Are you sure about this, Jordan?” asked Rin again, frowning. “About everything?”Jordan thought about his decision for a few minute, even though it felt like forever

for Rin and Jordan. After everything Jordan had done and said today, Jordan knew therewas no other choice, but to separate himself from Jin. Jin had done so much for him. Jinhad stayed by his side when no one else did. Jin had said things that had saved Jordan so

many times. Even now, Jordan felt like he was only alive because of Jin. However, that wasin the past. Thanks to Jin, he had become a more independent person who should use whathe gained to become a more selfless friend. To be more like Jin himself.

“Yes,” said Jordan at last. “I should thank him actually.”“Thank him?”Jordan tried to smile at Rin. “Don't you get it, Ri-chan? I'm no longer popular. I'm not

Jordan Greene, the most popular boy in school or the leader of the Populars or the one whobullied Ri-chan for the past two years.”

“Jordan...” said Rin, surprised at how happy Jordan looked all of a sudden.



Yes, Jin must have done all this to save him. Jordan laughed out loud. Everythingmade sense now. It took him this long to figure it out. All this time, he had been suffering.He had been suffering from being a leader, a role model, a star, and so much more. He hadbeen suffering for being Jordan Greene. He had been like this for so long with no one everquestioning his position.

All of a sudden, Jin wanted to become popular, more so than Jordan. He took that

position from Jordan within a month, but stayed the same Jin that everyone loved.However, despite Jin's good intentions, Jordan was still trapped in his Jordan Greene imagethat everyone saw him as. He was still second most popular and people had their eyes onhim.

But this time, it was the end for him. Jordan had no idea what Jin had done, butnow, Jordan was no longer special. He was an ordinary student. He could enjoy the rest of his school life like an ordinary student. This was what Jordan had always wanted. Of coursein exchange for everything Jin had done to free Jordan, Jordan himself had to losesomething very important and pay the price- Jin himself.

Admittedly, this loss was painful, but when Jordan really thought about it, all of thiswas like one huge present from Jin that no one ever received before. Jin did everything for

Jordan's sake. Even though Jin didn't have romantic feelings for Jordan, Jordan must havemeant something to Jin for him to do all this. That alone made Jordan very happy, happyenough to help him get through the rest of his high school life as the fallen leader.

Jordan dropped his head on his pillow and smiled, “Thanks Jin. From now on, I'm justplain, old Jordan.”

“It's not going to be easy to adjust,” said Rin right when the bell rang.Jordan sat up straight. “I know. You'll help me, yes?”“Maybe,” said Rin quickly, indicating at the door. “Are you well enough to go to fifth

period then?”“Yes, I should be,” said Jordan, lifting his backpack up. “I want to see what's up with

Jin. He didn't look well earlier. I hope he's all right about us.”

“Of course Jin's all right about our friendship. You know that.”“Not that,” said Jordan, lifting a brow at her. “About our more than friendsrelationship in his eyes.”

Rin blushed and shook her head frantically. “What are you talking about, Jordan?Hadn't we discussed this in the locker room? We're best friends forever. You, Jin, and Iremember? How can we be more than friends then?”

“For Jin.”At Jordan's calm answer, Rin gawked and stuttered, “F-For Jin?”“I'll explain it all later,” said Jordan, leading Rin out of the room with perfect

composure. “Now, let's smile and face the world with confidence.”Soon enough, though, Rin's confidence vanished in an instant when she noticed not

only the empty seat next to her, but the empty seat next to Jordan too. For that instant,Rin thought that she had lost the two most important to her. Judging by Jordan's face, hefelt the same way.

*********************************************************On Jezebelle's way to the girls' locker room to change for her tennis match, she

found Tiffany waiting for her. Jezebelle smirked at the sight of the only member of theAsian Gossip Girls left. Before she came to this school, Jezebelle wondered if any of theprevious girls left the group like this. After all, there were so many benefits to being in thegroup in the first place.



Ignoring Tiffany, Jezebelle passed by her without a glance. Tiffany was persistentthough as she stood in front of Jezebelle to block her way. Giving in, Jezebelle greetedTiffany and made a comment about how much free time Tiffany had now that her groupwas falling apart.

“Where's Jin?” asked Tiffany, narrowing her eyes at Jezebelle.“How should I know?” asked Jezebelle innocently.

“Jin took a leave of school early,” said Tiffany in a cool, collected manner. “Sincethis is Jin we're talking about, he wouldn't have left without leaving you a message first.”Jezebelle shrugged. “You caught me.”“Where is he? And what is going on with him?”“You're so nosy for someone who is not his girlfriend,” said Jezebelle, observing

Tiffany from top to bottom. “Why do you like him so much anyways? Is it because he's'nice'?”

Tiffany scowled. “Why does this have anything to do with his absence?”“Everything actually,” said Jezebelle, widening her eyes in a mocking manner. “Nice

people are the scariest people in the world.” Judging by Tiffany's face, Jezebelle knew theother girl didn't believe her so she continued, “Everyone is born selfish. We're made to be

selfish creatures. Nice people are abnormal because they're going against what they areborn to be like.”“How does that make Jin scary then?” asked Tiffany in disbelief.Jezebelle glanced inside the locker room once before she continued, “Because the

first option is they're faking it and catching others off-guard, which makes them formidableopponents. If not and they're really genuinely nice,” Jezebelle widened her playful smirk atTiffany's interest. “Where does all that negative emotion go?”

“Jin's not like that,” said Tiffany defensively.“Are you sure?” asked Jezebelle, giggling in amusement. “Are you saying Jin is

perfect, and that he has never done anything wrong in his life before?”“I don't see why I even bothered asking you in the first place,” said Tiffany, throwing

her long black hair behind her back. “I'll find out by myself.”After Tiffany left, Jezebelle went back to her normal routine of going to her locker,taking out her tennis outfit, and changing by herself. The other girls were going to arrive afew minutes later. She hadn't thought much about Jin, unlike Tiffany, since he had alreadytold her where he went and what he was doing. It seemed like the time had come for Jin atlast. The time for every nice person Jezebelle had ever known. It was inevitable. She mightas well continue with her life.

While Jezebelle tied up her hair in front of her locker, she thought back to what shejust said to Tiffany. Those were the same words her father once taught her when hebrought her to his company. She could still remember that conversation so well.

“Jezebelle,” he had said to her. “Look at all those so-called nice people outside my

office.” Jezebelle had tiptoed to look out at them. “That is why they are there and I amhere.” He had moved next to his desk where the name card 'Mr. Tilly' was at. “Because theykeep all those negative thoughts and emotions on the inside, it only takes a timely, goodpush-” He had knocked over a pen on his desk down to the floor. “-to break them.”Jezebelle bent over to pick up the broken pen when he continued, “Just like your mother.”

I haven't written a note in a while. XD I need to this time because well, it's the end of Part



III! I bet half of you are like... there are PARTS to Gorgeous Geek?!!!!!!! If you look at theGorgeous Geek page, you'll notice that the chapters are divided into parts. Anyhoo, I left acouple of important questions unanswered because I want to address them slowly in thenext part of Gorgeous Geek. I don't want to fill this chapter with too much information. It'spacked enough as it is. ^^;;

There will be a couple of minor changes in the upcoming part of Gorgeous Geek. One, sincethe Asian Gossip Girls are not together anymore (all planned in the timing~), the AsianGossip Girl review section at the beginning of the chapter is no more. There are anotherreason for this besides them breaking up. The other reason is that the 'let's review whathappened last chapter' is no longer necessary from this point forward. Why? Well, you guyshave to figure out by yourselves. :P I know, I know. I'm evil like always.

The second change is that the chapters will no longer go day by day like before. It will skiparound a lot. How will you know which day it is? I'm sure the characters will give you a clueon the date approximately. I won't ever jump back and forth though. For example, I won'thave Chapter 71 be Friday and Chapter 72 be Thursday. Even though there will be jumping,

it will be in chronological order~ Hurray?

There is a chance that a chapter might cover more than one day. This is not 100% certainyet but there is a chance so look out for that as well~ Also, the Rin and Jin half will be evenmore split for a while because once again, I'm evil. I gave them a friendship scene lastchapter to make up for it? Forgive me? ^^;;

Last but not least, Kristian is not dead. XDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD He'll come back. I promise<3 I won't kill off one of my beloved characters for no reason. :P
