Summarizing and Notetaking

Create a T organizer with combination notes.

Students use software to take notes. The automatic formatting (bullets, outlines) will allow them to take note quickly.

Using Google Docs Documents, students can take notes collaboratively.

With Google Docs you could allow several students to summarize the same article and be able to see who did what to the

document by viewing the Revision History.

Cooperative learningUsing the Sharing feature and comments of Google Docs, groups can collaborate, communicate, and publish group projects. 

RecognitionUsing the Publish feature you can easily publish outstanding student work online.

Identifying similarities and differencesIf you don’t have access to special organizing and brainstorming software, you

can use a word processor to create diagrams, classification tables, and other tem-

 plates. Go to the Insert menu and choose Drawing.

Homework and PracticeSince Google Docs browser-based, available from any computer connected to the Internet, students can access their files from

various locations.

Using the Sharing feature, teachers can distribute and collect assignments using Google Docs. See the Google Docs handout

for the details on how to do this.

Google Docs has a Tools menu that features: Define that students could use when practicing or completing homework assign-

ments.
