Sadly, the December 12th Chapter K meeting was the last under the leadership of Don and Judi Black.
This couple agreed to lead Chapter K even though a spring rally was eminent and negotiations for a rally site were far from final. Without a doubt, Don and Judi did an outstanding job...with that rally and in guid-ing us to new heights for the next two years.
We wish them well in their endeavor to visit other GWRRA chapters in our state and ride to a few of their personal destinations in coming months.
At the December meeting the in-coming Chapter Director, Ed and Jeanette Carr, with assistance from ACDs, Dan and Barb Randall, presented Don and Judi with an originally-designed bronze and crystal free-standing memento of our members' gratitude.

“Just Another Day in Paradise”
We want to start this article by wishing all of our GW friends a very Happy New Year and hope you all had a
great Christmas and happy holidays. We enjoyed the Christmas Holidays with family in Ohio, Indiana &
Atlanta. It was down to zero degrees in Indiana while we were there. This Florida Boy bout froze in the snow
and freezing rain.
As Jeanette and I move back to the helm of Chapter FL1-K Palm Coast, we want to thank former Chapter
Directors Don and Judi Black, for the excellent and professional manner in which they conducted day to day
running of the Chapter for the past two years. They will be backing away from the decision making but they
will not be leaving the Chapter. Perhaps down the road we could ask them to rejoin the Chapter Team in
some capacity. Thanks again Don and Judi for all that you do for the Chapter and for GWRRA.
Just a reminder that our “Just Another Day in Paradise” Rally on April 29th is fast approaching and will be
upon us before we know it. We are going to need everyone’s help for this rally to be successful. If you
haven’t been invited by one of our great Chair Persons to help in a certain area of this event, please ask,
volunteer your time and a little effort. The hardest part of working the Rally is cleaning up after, and last year
with everyone helping it took about 20 minutes.
Finally, for those of you that may not know much about Jeanette and me, we started out in Chapter FL1-H
Daytona Beach as Flag Custodians, Assistant Ride Coordinators, Ride Coordinators, Assistant Chapter
Directors and Chapter Directors. At Chapter FL1-K Palm Coast/St Augustine we have been Ride
Coordinators, Assistant Chapter Directors, Membership Enhancement Coordinators and Chapter Directors,
and we were also Assistant District Directors and Florida District Directors. We like visiting other Chapters
and have been to hundreds of Chapter Gatherings throughout Region A and other Regions and have been to
about 60 to 80 District Rally’s around the US as well as 15 of the 16 Wing Dings since becoming members.
We enjoy participating, and find that those members that choose to participate are the ones that have the most
fun and get the most out of GWRRA. Anyone having questions pertaining to GWRRA please do not hesitate
to ask me or Jeanette.
We hope to see you at a GWRRA event in 2017,
Ed & Jeanette Carr, Chapter Directors

2017 COUPLE OF THE YEAR – FL1 1 K
CONGRATULATIONS TO GORDON & BETTY CURRIE
Being named the Chapter Couple-of-the-Year is an honor to recognize involvement during the previous years.
There is nothing extra expected of the couple, just be themselves and enjoy the special treatment.
Gordon & Betty joined GWRRA in January of 2008. Although they no longer own a motorcycle, it hasn’t
stopped them from joining old and new friends in many activities. They attend meetings, kick-tires, dinners,
rallies, and visitations to other chapters. They volunteer whenever the chapter needs help. They took over the
chapter store and run it efficiently with added humor each time the chapter needs to be addressed about sup-
plies. And speaking of humor, if you have seen the outfits they wear at Halloween, you know how much fun
they add to any chapter event!

Notes From the Rider Education Corner
”The GWRRA Rider Education Program in a Nutshell”
The GWRRA Rider Education Program (REP) is intended to make the motorcycle environment safer by
reducing injuries and fatalities and increasing the motorcyclist skills and awareness. The Rider Education
Program does not propose to have all the answers. However, our close-working relationship with the
Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF), as well as additional GWRRA programs and studies, has provided a
wealth of information for use in establishing a comprehensive Ridder Education Program. Through
Commitment, Education and Application, we can reduce our accident rate significantly. Listed below are
several benefits of a fully implemented GWRRA Rider Education Program at the Chapter level:
*Increased rider knowledge
*Increased rider safety skills
*Prevention of accidents
*Reduced injuries
*Reduced fatalities
*Improved general public image of motorcyclists
*Enhanced enjoyment of motorcycle riding
The motorcycle community is already realizing many positive benefits from the GWRRA Rider Education
Program. Through the efforts of the Rider Education Officers and participation of the members and others, we
will reach our goal of establishing the safest motorcycle environment possible.

Flagler County Resource Center Food Bank Update Ruth Sober, Sunshine Lady, and Gary Sober, Webmaster
Sisters & Brothers of Chapter K, you donated 173 lbs. of food to The Flagler County Resource Center 's Food Bank in December. Some members donated their evening's winnings, for which Chapter K received a thank you letter from Food Bank Director, Bette Rountree.
Now for the big news...the grand total you generous people donated in 2016 was 1827 lbs.! Fantastic! Thank you! Thank you!
At the December 5th Staff Meeting, all present agreed to continue donating to this worthy agency in 2017. But please remember, this is only a voluntary endeavor. If you have foodstuffs in your pantry that you wish to do-nate, thank you. But it is by no means required of your Chapter K participation.
Gary and I wish you all a prosperous, healthy and happy New Year.
Below we've printed the package guidelines a family of 4 to 6 people would receive every-other-month.

HAPPY NEW YEAR !!
The “torch has been passed” for new leadership, but fun, friendship, and riding will continue as the keys to
Chapter FL1-K life. Don and Judi Black were enthusiastic and inspirational leaders and we look forward to
their support and smiles to enhance all experiences.
As this is being written, I gaze out the window at snow flurries. Yep! We are out-of-state again in Indiana
to visit family. Being restricted by ice storm and now snow, we have decided that warm weather is the time
to visit here - especially since that is also motorcycle time. Still, news articles are due by the 25th of each
month for publication on the 1st – so at least my view relates to my next comments.
Christmas LIGHT RIDE/DESSERT SOCIAL Ed and I toured the Ormond neighborhoods for light
displays prior to this event. There were many decorations but not concentrated in any one area. A route
was planned and 3 bikes, 3 cars took the tour. 1st stop was a home with 150 holiday blow ups. The owner
greeted us with candy canes as we walked the pathways. He invited us back again next year when he will
have more additions. The ride down Beach St. after Tomoka State Park was scenic with lights reflected in
the water and home displays. Holly Hill City Hall and the Twi Light II Cottages & surrounding homes was
the most spectacular display. A loop through the Trails ended the ride to the Currie’s home which had
decorations on all sides not to mention all the details inside. They really get into the spirit of the holidays.
Other members joined the group then with members providing a tasty assortment of desserts. From 7-9pm everyone mixed and mingled. Gordon & Betty Currie were announced as the new Chapter Couple-of-the Year. This is a much deserved honor for all their involvement in our chapter.

Never been in accident. Professionally maintained. Mileage 99K.
I am asking $4200. A couple years ago the speedometer cable broke. It shows 95K on the bike. I have put on less than 5k since.
The bike has been serviced by Tri-City (Scott) on Flagler beach for a number of years. His records will verify mileage.
Prior to Scott I used Jimmy Walker in Daytona when Mike the Goldwing mechanic was there.
