Gloucester County College – Men’s Tennis 2012 SPRING MEDIA GUIDE
2012 Season Outlook:
The Men’s Tennis team reflects the Gloucester County College concept of
tradition, excellence, and championships. The 2011 team finished 13-2 overall and
were the champions of the NJCAA Region XIX Tournament and won the programs
second NJCAA National Tennis Championship.
Returning to the Roadrunner lineup this spring are AJ Moore, Andrew Pfeiffer,
Vladislav Koldomasov and Daniel Hays. Moore, the two-time Gloucester County
High School Player of the Year, is a returning All-American at #1 singles. Pfeiffer
showed great improvement over the course of the 2011 season moving from the
#5 singles spot to start the season all the way up to the #2 singles position by
the end of the season. These two should lead the way in singles again this season.
Koldomasov is a strong doubles player who gained valuable experience last season.
Hays has developed well and should provide good depth for the Roadrunners sin-
gles lineup.
A talented group of newcomers will look to supplement this group in their hopes of
repeating some measure of last season’s success. Donovan Vassalotti had a very
good career at Sacred Heart HS and will team with Moore at the #1 doubles posi-
tion. Jon Sjolander, Alex Ayala, Onkar Singh, Shamell Martin and Dan Semler are
all newcomers that could contribute at some point during the season. Aaron Wil-
liams, David Roberts, and Neil Pladus are all transfers that could see time this
season as well. The 13-member team is the largest team under head coach Brian
Rowan.
The main competition in NJCAA Region XIX this season looks to be Brookdale CC,
Mercer CC and Bergen CC. Either Gloucester or Mercer have won the Region XIX
title for the last six seasons but Brookdale CC has been dangerous the last two
seasons and Bergen could return a strong nucleus. The Roadrunners will also
square off with national junior college power Oxford College during a spring trip
to Georgia and South Carolina. The team will open the season on the road with an
indoor match against St. Thomas Aquinas March 4th. As always the team will also
square off against local NCAA colleges as well.

Spring 2011 Recap:
Record: 13-2, Region XIX Tournament: Champions, NJCAA Tournament: Champions
The team came into the season as the frontrunner to repeat as National Champions
and did just that and more capturing every title available to them including the regu-
lar season Garden State Athletic Conference Championship, the Region 19 Tourna-
ment Championship and the programs second NJCAA National Championship. The
Roadrunners were led by sophomores Ryan Airo, Aaron Hartman, Jared Randazzo and
Edmond Thompson who will forever be remember as GCC Tennis’ ―Four Aces‖. Be-
tween them the foursome captured two team National Titles, six Individual National
Championships and each was named an NJCAA All-American at least once. Their lead-
ership helped develop the freshman talent of AJ Moore, Andrew Pfieffer, Vladislav
Koldomasov and Dan Hays each of whom returns to the lineup in 2012. Moore had a
terrific freshman campaign at #1 singles capturing the Region 19 Singles Champion-
ship and reaching the Championship Match at the National Tournament earning All-
American status. Pfeiffer’s improvement during the season was a key to the team
success as well.
