PARTY IDEAS FOR GLOBAL GENES PROJECTBy Elizabeth Joshi, parent advocate, Joubert Syndrome and Related Disorders Foundation

Incorporate Denim at work, at parties, home based businesses *Develop a Jeans day or wear denim pins for $1 or $5 at work, school or club (e.g. book club, study group, etc.)

*See if denim can be incorporated into a party for certain businesses that sell products through catalogs!e.g. beauty products, cooking products, candles, clothing, etc. and determine if percentage of proceeds from sales at the party could go to a designated 501(c)(3) charitable organization.

*"ink about a regular activity you do every month and incorporate jeans into it!e.g. a get-together with friends in the morning for co#ee, a get-together at home, etc. Consider accepting donations for the 501(c)(3)charitable organization of your choice.

*Plan a cra$ party for making denim-themed cra$s!e.g. denim ribbons, quilt with denim, denim pillows, decorations on kids’ denim jeans or jackets. Consider accepting donations at the party for the 501(c)(3) organization of your choice or consider selling the cra$s to raise money for that cause.

Engage the community – ask local businesses for support *Ask a business to host a jeans-themed party!e.g. girls night at a cosmetic boutique or party at a denim store. Guests could shop while they are there to also bene%t the store owner.

*Approach a restaurant about hosting a Global Genes Project night; ask if restaurant would consider donating percentage of proceeds from lunch or dinner to a 501 (c)(3) charitable organization(s). If a chain restaurant, share with others to see if additional restaurants in that chain may want to participate.

*Organize a kids’ event. Maybe a movie theater would host a special matinee for kids wearing jeans and donate some of the sales to a charitable organization. Perhaps a children’s activity center or music studio would agree to host a special day or class for children who wear jeans for the Global Genes Project and would donate some of the proceeds to a 501(c)(3) charitable organization(s).
