Te wiki o te reo Māori provides an opportunity to celebrate and learn te reo Māori, helping to secure its future as a living, dynamic, and rich language. This year’s focus was Kia Kaha te Reo Maori (let’s make Maori language strong). Children were involved in a variety of ways within their classes. Teachers had some of their own focuses and Whaea Wera (who teaches Te Reo/Tikanga in classes each aſternoon) also had a focus within her programme. Hope- fully all of you were able to be involved in some way also. This week we have Bruce Moody our maths consultant in classes. He is once again working with teachers and stu- dents and ensuring that the delivery of our Maths curricu- lum is of a high quality. He will be in on Wednesday and Thursday. Yesterday we had a fantasc gym day at Huntly. A huge thanks to Susan and Amanda Pos for their efforts in mak- ing this happen and to Brenda Coleman for her work in seng things from the school side. I am about ¾ of the way through collating all of the information and will share a summary once complete. Overall the feedback is very positive and some very good suggestions have come through also. The Education Review Office will be visiting our school next term during the week starting 12th November. They will be conducting a full audit of teaching, board and leadership practices in relation to student achievement. We will welcome them with a Powhiri on the Monday morning and then they will be into meetings/observations on and off during the week. We look forward to showing them what our school has to offer. Pet Day takes place on Friday 28th September. Children will be involved in class displays etc during the morning and then judging of animals will start at 11am. Once judging is complete we will have some games etc organised. A reminder that school finishes on Friday 28th September for the school holidays. We start back on Monday 15th October.
