VILLAGE OF GLEN ELLYN

Village Investment Drives Over $2 Millionin Private Investments

In 2018, the Village invested in new and expandingbusinesses in Glen Ellyn through various awardprograms. The $175,000 of public funds invested throughinterior, facade, and fire prevention award programs wasmatched by $1.9 million in private investments, totaling over$2 million of direct investment into the business community.

Properties located in the downtown are eligible for interiorand facade improvements as well as fire prevention awards,funded through the Tax Increment Financing (TIF)District. Properties located in the Roosevelt Road businesscorridor and in Historic Stacy's Corners are eligible forfacade awards, funded through the Village's GeneralFund. This year, the Village Board expanded the fireprevention program to include Roosevelt Road properties, located in the Roosevelt Road TIFDistrict.

This investment helped to welcome Common Good Cocktail House, Skin Theory, Nobel Houseand Sushi Ukai to Glen Ellyn. In addition, Jimmy John's successfully relocated and added adrive-thru to better serve customers. A Glen Ellyn Public Art Projectfor the Taylor Avenue Underpass Pedway

Members of the Environmental Commission willbe hosting a presentation featuring artists fromthe Chicago Public Art Group on Wednesday,May 22 at 7 p.m. The event offers theopportunity for residents & businesses to shareideas for an art installation at the new TaylorAvenue pedestrian underpass.

Glen Ellyn Comprehensive Plan

The downtown subarea plan of the updatedcomprehensive plan will be reviewed by thePlan Commission at the Thursday, May 23, 7p.m. meeting. This meeting is the first formalmeeting of the public review process. Residentsand businesses are invited and encouraged toattend. The following topics will be discussed:

• The overall vision for downtown• Downtown height limitations• 3 downtown "catalyst sites" including theMcChesney & Miller property, the Fire Stationproperty at the northwest corner ofPennsylvania Avenue and Main Street, and theUS Bank site at the corner of Forest Avenueand Duane Street.
