ONE WISH KID HER MOM’S THANK YOU
My daughter is currently waiting for her wish from Make-A-Wish, as it has been postponed due to the pandemic.
She received an Album of Hope today and it brought tears to our eyes. It truly made her day. Thank you.
• March-April: 1st round
• May-August: 2nd round
My dad has Stage 4 colon cancer. He’s endured chemo and radiation for 3 straight
years. A Marine and Air National Guard veteran, volunteer firefighter and father of five,
God has really blessed him – he's held up really well the last three years – but since the
pandemic started, he has really begun to weaken. Dad is super-social and now he can’t
go outside do the little things he used to enjoy, like go down to the firehouse (he’s been a
volunteer since 1973) and hang out with the guys, or walk around the block, or visit his
retiree group at McDonald's for breakfast. He's in pain and nauseous. Even worse, the
weather is so bad he can't sit outside in the sun, one of his favorite things to do. He’s
finally asked us to visit (with masks), because he can’t stand the thought of not seeing us
again. My heart is breaking to see him so depressed and weak. –His loving daughter
Good Morning,
If possible, please send Megan an album. Megan is a nurse at Henry Ford Hospital. Her
husband Joe, is a police officer. Everyday they both face the unknown of the virus. They
have two precious little girls. Each time Joe and Megan leave for work, they have no idea
if they will return home. Please send some hope!
My dad has stage 4 colon cancer. It’s so hard to be away from him. Your book
might be a nice pick-me-up for him during this time of isolation. He’s a fighter
and working so hard to get healthy. Thank you and love, Casey
Hi, delivery was a success today at
Greenfields! Julie and her staff were waiting
for us!
I want to say thank you since this enabled
me to be at Greenfields for the first time in 6
weeks, and I felt reconnected for a moment
with the staff and Mom. I would be visiting
Mom at least twice a week, so being away
so long has been tough to deal with.
These woman are so important since they
are entertaining and keeping our loved ones
active!
Thank you for your mission, and for extending it to others during this
unprecedented time. Please send an album to Steve and Giselle. They are
posted at a hot-spot hospital in Iowa.
So much gratitude for Albums of Hope!!! Thank you!!! Judi
Hello,
I was wondering if I could get an album sent to my elderly father. He’s alone
after losing his wife of 42 years to cancer and now he is fighting cancer as well
and I think it would cheer him up.
I would like you to consider my mom as a recipient of
one of the albums.
After my dad died twelve years ago, she eventually
found love again. She lost him unexpectedly this fall.
My mom is on her own, again, but this time she's by
herself while my brother and I, and our families, are
miles and miles away.
She talks on the phone about how hard it is being home
alone in the evening.
Stories from the Frontlines!• A 78-year-old patient
• Recently diagnosed with gastric (stomach) cancer
• Overwhelmed, alone and scared
• After lunch I peeked in on Mary and noticed that she was
crying. I gave her an Album of Hope, we looked through the
album together and each talked about a memory that each
picture or saying brought to us.
• We cried together and we laughed together and when it was
time for me to go home for the day, she looked at me and
said, “I think the Lord sent me an angel today.”
• I gave her a big hug, washed my hands and walked out of her
room, tears of gratitude streaming down my face. It was a
good day for both of us!
• A patient that didn’t speak much English, but he spoke enough to thank me.
• Several days later, he thanked me again for the wonderful gift.
• “God bless you,” he said as he walked away.
• A patient was sitting in her room looking out the window with a frown on her face; I asked if I could give
her a little something.
• She opened the album immediately, then flipped through the album.
• She stopped on a photo of hot air balloons. “I just love these” referring to the balloons. “I always wanted
to ride in one but am afraid of heights, but I love to look at them and listen to the whooshing sound they
make when they pass by.” She thanked me for the gift and a wished her a good day.
• I noticed later that the photo of the hot air balloons was open on her bedside table.
I wanted these albums to bring a smile, joy, or some happiness to the patients that received them,
but I think the experience brought smiles, joy and some happiness to this nurse too!
