• From Saturday, May 21 to Sunday, May 22, 2011, Student Press Assistant (SPA) group held an on-campus Study Camp for our new members. An interview was carried out with Mr. Yamamoto Hiroki, one of our new domestic members.

• Mr. Hiroki is one of our youngest members, as he is now enjoying his very first semester at APU. Coming from Hyogo Prefecture, he came to APU for the purpose of learning other Asia Pacific countries’ languages and cultures. This semester he is challenging himself with both English class and Vietnamese class.

Mr. Hiroki also shared his experiences travelling to many places outside Japan. The list goes on to Russia, China, Singapore and America. During his time at APU, he wants to extend the list to India and other South-east Asian countries. Talking about career path after graduation, he dreams to run his own trading company in China.

• Apart from being a SPA member, Mr. Hiroki is now also one of 20 leaders in 2011 Multicultural Camp, an annual event at APU which strengthen friendship and mutual understanding between domestic and international students. Starting from the interest in extra-curricular activities in university, he has the motivation to participate in different projects and activities on campus.

Giving an advice for other freshmen, Hirokisays: “Probably you do not apply for a position

because you think you do not have any experience, but just give it a try. When you actually do something, you really learn a lot

from it”.

• Interview with Mr. Hiroki proves that it is never too soon to start doing the thing you want to do. APU is an excellent international environment in which students are given many opportunities to participate in extra-curricular activities both on and off-campus. Let’s make unforgettable memory during your four years at APU.
