Lytton Creek wildfire update The Lytton Crk wildfire is current- ly mapped at 84,536.0 hectares, slightly smaller than at the peak of fire activity. It is now considered 'Aactive'. Monday the fire received varying amounts of precipitation from 4-12mm, and temperatures dropped as low as 3-5 degrees overnight. Yesterday was sunny with temperatures in the low 20s, but no significant fire activity was expected, nor significant growth hobserved. Helicopters continued bucketing hot spots as needed. Heavy equipment work on the fire guard along the southern edge of the fire is progressing well. The machine-built fire guard running east from Hwy 8 & west from wy 97C wass expected to con- nect this week. Hydro crews are working along highway 8 to replace hydro poles. Fire crews are working in collabora- tion with the Lower Nicola Indian Band on guard work in the Highway 8 area. Work is ongoing to strengthen the fi- reguard from Highway 8 to the west. Crews continue to work on measures to contain the northeast fire's edge. A guard is being put in by connecting hand-cleared sections, a widened section of an existing forest service road and ma- chine-cleared sections, and hose is being laid along the line.
