To be a tough girl growing up in the midst of the ’80s was not a funny thing, and there really wasn’t much room to play along with the neighborhood guys when it came to boy-centric games in that frame of time.There may have been a couple of female characters, but other than that it was No Girls Allowed landscape.

GI JOE HEADLINESBut here came Hasbro’s G.I. Joe, which had quite a few bad-ass female characters for girls to identify with and pretend to be when it came time to save the neighborhood from Megatron, Cobra, Darth Vader and some others.

Scarlett, Lady Jaye, and Cover Girl fought for the good guys while Los Baroness and the punk-rock Zarana were part of the trouble making boys from that reckless terrorist organization known as Cobra. Later in the 1987 G.I. Joe movie, the heroes introduced a new female character; Jinx the red ninja.

GI JOE TRAILER IN HDNow G.I. Joe has a sequel for 2012 named G.I. Joe: Retaliation (out June 29), and guess who is back once again? Of course Jinx is back in the form of the stunning actress Elodie Yung.
