PURPOSE OF THE MEETING

PROVIDE AN OPPORTUNITY FOR THE COMMUNITY TO PARTICIPATE IN THE ANNUAL REVIEW OF THE IDP & THE BUDGET.

To provide feedback on current & future IDP projects To create an opportunity for inputs to the 2016/17

• In terms of Section 34 of the Municipal Systems Act, 2000, municipalities are obligated to review their IDPs annually.

• To ensure that municipal planning takes into account and adapts to changing circumstances.

Property belongs to Department of Public Works. George Municipality and Department of Public Works is presently discussing the possible development of the area. It is anticipated that the proposed project will be included in the catalytic projects. Approval is being awaited from National government.

4 Electricity Electricity outages seem to occur

A vegetation control section is being established to improve reliability. Funds are provided on the Operational budget for staff and on the capital budget for equipment. Please report faulty streetlights at the municipality so that they may be repaired

Roll out is planned for the first quarter of 2016 due to various delaysAll Go George related projects will be constructed with local labour.

2 Housing

Explanation with respect to Emergency housing and Gap housing

Emergency Housing Projects (E.H.P) are in respect of fire and storm damage houses where there are inter alia structural damage to the houses. All EHP applications are processed and submitted to Province for funding approval. In cases of disaster and other emergencies, temporary structures are provided.GAP Housing in return is directed at those persons who does not qualify for low cost housing (RDP) and earn more than R3.500 per month.

3Street cleaning

Better job can be done by the municipality

Bakkie contractor with 9 workers and additional EPWP workers are cleaning the streets daily in residential areas.
