Fundamental Questions Pg 62-64 Section 2.1

1. What is a conjecture? An educated guess based on known information.

2. What is the process of inductive reasoning?Looking at several specific examples we come upwith/develop a conjecture, an educated guess or prediction. 3. What is the false example? When is it used?Counterexample- one false example that shows a conjecture is not true.

Questions about homework GP 64 #2, 6, 7, 8, 9

Fundamental Questions Pg 67-69 Ex. 1 and 2 GP 4, 6, 7, 91. What is a Statement and Truth Value?Statement = Any sentence that is true or false but not bothTruth value – truth or falsity of a statement2. If it is true then what is negation?

Truth value- both values, p and q must be truefor the statement to be true. If p or q are false the statement is false.

Truth value- either value can be true for a truestatement. Either p or q true, makes a true statement. Both p and q must be false for a false statement.

Use not in your statement for negation.
