• It was then opened to the public as a museum in 1994 showing the historical development of Louth from the stone age up to present through a combination of artefacts and computer interactives.

• There are three floors in the museum, they include many galleries such as Louth’s industrial development, King Williams coat that he wore during the Battle of the Boyne, archaeology of County Louth, from the arrival of the first hunter-gatherers up to the arrival of Christianity and much more! Castle Roche.• Castle roche is a ruin of a Norman castle located 10km away

from Dundalk. It marked the boundary between the provence of Ulster and the ‘Pale’. It was owned by the De Verdon family, and used to be known as ‘Castlellum de Rupe’- The Castle of the rocks.

• It is said that a woman called Roesha lived in the castle with her fiancé. One evening she called her fiancé to look out the window of the castle to see what was soon to be his new found wealth. As he looked out, Roesha pushed him to his death on the rocks below. To this very day his ghost can be seen in the window.

Dundalk County Louth, it is well worth a visit! • The giant roof stone is estimated to weigh about 30

tonnes or more and is supported on two portal stones, each about 2.3 meters in height.

Clogherhead.• Clogherhead is the only high, rocky headland on the east coast between the

Mournes and Howth in County Dublin, 12km northeast of Drogheda. It is listed as a place of natural beauty because of its rare coastal headland vegetation. It is a popular location for all types of activities including, fishing, walking, sightseeing and water based activities. Clogherhead beach has easy access to a long stretch of sand which is backed by sand dunes.

• An area of rocks, known as Red Mans Cave, lies at the side of the head in Clogherhead. Some say it is called RedMan’s because of a myth. The story is about a crew from Spain that sailed to Ireland. Most of the crew died from scurvy on the voyage. When they reached Clogherhead the 6 remaining crew members and captain camped at the caves. As the story progresses, each night, someone mysteriously dies leaving 3 crew and the captain. The crew suspect the captain so they chopped of his head, stuck it on a stick and placed it at the caves now known as RedMans cave. According to people that have been at RedMans at night they say that they see a man walking around the Clogherhead area singing and whistling.
