THE GENES

Each cell in the human body contains about 25,000 to 35,000 genes. Genes carry information that determines your traits.

THE GENES

Genes are kept on chromosomes.

Chromosomes come in pairs, and there can be thousands of genes in one chromosome.

Chromosomes (and genes) are made of DNA.

THE GENES

Chromosomes are inside the nucleus of cells.

The nucleus contains all the information about the cell that it governs. The chromosomes are the information.

THE GENES

In human cells, the nucleus contains 46 chromosomes: 23 from each parent. These chromosomes contain the information about how we are.

For example: chromosomes X and Y decide the sex.
