GARRY & CONNIE RECTOR FEATURE ARTISTS AT REFLECTIONS OF NATURE 2019 For the first time - we will have a Feature Artist Couple at the 2019 Reflections of Nature! Garry & Connie Rector have been long time members of The Saskatchewan Wildlife Art Association. And - they have both won awards for their carving at the show throughout the years. Garry Rector teaches his carving skills on a regular basis. He has been carving since 1989; he started teaching and instructing a few years later. He has taught not only in Saskatoon and Martensville, but at the Winnipeg Carving Weekend, the Regina Whittlers and Woodcarvers Show, Moose Jaw Woodcrafters Guild Show and at the Kenderdine Retreat at Emma Lake. With his help and instructions, many of his students have gone on to win Best of Show and other awards. His own accomplishments include Best of Shows and many ribbon awards from bird shows all over North America. In Reflections of Nature Show he was honoured with the Ducks Unlimited Sculptor of the Year for his miniature Ruddy Duck. Garry is a member of the Saskatchewan Wildlife Art Association and the Saskatchewan Woodworkers’ Guild. Garry finds carving relaxing and rewarding. His works can be found in many private collections around the world. Garry has been carving since 1989 and teaching since about 1990. He was even brave enough to teach his wife Connie how to carve. Connie was born and raised in Saskatoon. Art to her is a fulfilling and rewarding career. She works in a variety of mediums, including oils, acrylics, pastels and watercolours. Her paintings depict landscapes wildlife, domestic animals or still life. She enjoys woodcarving as another form of art. In both fields she has won many ribbons and Best of Show awards in many competitions. The variety of art is her personal challenge. Mother Nature in all her splendour provides her with the best knowledge available. Connie frequently donates art to various organizations to help them in their endeavours. Connie enjoys the art of others and sharing her work. This amazing couple will be at the Reflections Gala on Saturday evening and will give a special Feature Artist Presentation. If you miss that, you can still meet them at their booth at Reflections.
