THE MOUNTAINEERS LAST TIME OUTEOU STILL ON HUNT FOR FIRST WINSeptember 23, 2012CALDWELL, ID – Carroll College picked up its second straight win over the Eastern Oregon Mountaineers on the pitch Saturday. The Saints picked up a 4-0 win at the Cascade Frontier Red Lion Challenge Sept. 9, and shutout EOU 2-0 in the latest meeting. CALDWELL, ID – In a battle of teams looking for a win, the College of Idaho women’s soccer team rode a second-half surge to defeat Eastern Oregon University 4-1 at the Coyote Classis Sunday. The Mountaineers trailed 1-0 at the inter-mission following a McKenzie Anderson (Meridian,ID) goal off of a Brittney Lacey (Boise, ID) assist 43:27 into the first half. Instead of dishing out the assists, Lacey got into the scoring act with a pair of goals in the second half. The first one came three minutes into the second half off a cross by Sarah Hicks (Boise, ID). Lacey’s second goal came unassisted at 51:17. The Yotes (1-3-1, 0-0) widened the gap to four with their final goal in the 69TH
minute. Bri Blair took a feed from Hicks and put the ball in the back of the net. EOU (0-6, 0-0) didn’t leave empty handed. Kelli Jones (Boardman, OR) put the Mountaineers on the board with an assist from Claire Posadas. EOU held the edge in shots, 13-11, but both teams each put six shots on the goal. Keeper Kailey Moss (Springfield, OR) collected two saves for the Mountaineers. Melisssa Holmes-Joseph (Antioch, CA) stopped five shots during the game for the College of Idaho. EOU will travel to Salem for a date with Corban University (5-3, 0-0) Friday. The match is set for 1 p.m. The Warriors hold a 3-0 record at home. College of Idaho heads to Eugene to take on North-west Christian Friday at 2 p.m.
