EXTREME MAKEOVER : THE JESUS EDITION Galatians 2:20 (ESV) 20 I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. This sign was seen hanging in the window of a dry-cleaning and dyeing business. [Posted by Pastor David Hart at sermons.logos.com] This is how believers are encouraged to view the Christian life: daily dying to the enemies of our soul: the world, the flesh and the devil. As we come to the Lord’s Table this morning, let’s reflect on the radical nature of the gospel   the extreme makeover  that Jesus is accomplishing in our lives because of the cross and what that means for us. In doing so, we will focus on Paul’s powerful words in Galatians 2:20. Whatever Paul meant about having died in Christ, t he point is that his death severed him from the requirements of the law. Therefore, for Peter and the Judaizers to go back to the law is to visit the graveyard. Paul goes on to say that he can live for God  because Christ lives in him. Finally, Paul says that faith is the  principle that un locks the life of Christ in the believer. The more we exercise faith in Christ the more he is free to live through us. The more we are obedient to the Scripture and the leading of the Holy Spirit, the more our life approximates what Jesus would do if he were in our shoes. In that sense, the life he lives, he lives by faith in the Son of God. 1  1  Anders, M. (1999). Galatians-Colossians  (Vol. 8, pp. 24   25). Nashville, TN: Broadman & Holman Publishers. Questions for Reflection

1.  Galatians 2:20 indicates a significant change has occurred in those

who have trust Jesus Christ for salvation. What other texts ofScripture speak about this radical change?

2.  Briefly summarize your experience of salvation:

What was my life like before I repented and trusted in Jesus

Christ as Saviour?

What were the circumstances that led me to salvation? (Who

shared the gospel with you? What was going on in your life at

the time? What verses of Scripture helped you see that youneed a Saviour, and that this Saviour was Jesus Christ?)

How has my life changed since becoming a Christian?

3.  In light of the change that the Scripture describes coming into a

person’s life when they are born again (Eph. 2:1-10; 2 Cor. 5:17),how would you counsel someone who claimed to be a Christian,

but gave no evidence of having been changed?
