Principals Closing Message for school year 2015-2016
I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate all of our students on a very fine year at Gainsborough Public School. I would like to thank all the student leaders who have worked so hard as Lunch Monitors, Student Secretaries, the Milk Program, the Eco Team and our Pizza Crew. Their efforts and dedication have made this an enjoyable year for all. I take great personal pride and pleasure from watching the students of Gainsborough work and play together. Even during difficult or challenging times, we pull together as one team – The Wildcats. I would like to congratulate our graduates and wish them the best of luck in Secondary School. Most of our graduates have been at Gainsborough for 10 years. All the graduates will be truly missed. I am challenging the Grade 6 & 7 students to take on the leadership roles next year vacated by our awesome Grade 8 class. I would also like to thank the teaching and support staff for an excellent year. The staff at Gainsborough is a fantastic team. They make Gainsborough a great place for the students to come each day and learn. Thank you for all the extra time and care they put into their job each day. I would like to thank Mrs. Janssens for 3 fabulous years at Gainsborough. Mrs. Janssens has accepted a position at Nelles Public School in Grimsby. The staff and students will truly miss you Mrs. Janssens. A warm welcome to Mrs. Hauser who will be joining us in September in our Kindergarten Class. I want to wish all of our families a very safe and happy summer and we will see you in September. G. Osmond

your support, and thank you to everyone involved for all of their time and ef-
fort. Special thank you to our Parent Council!
VOLUNTEER APPRECIATION TEA
It was wonderful to see so many volunteers attend the celebration on Friday May 27th.
Those who were in attendance had the chance to mingle, enjoy some refreshments and

appreciate all that you do for us! Staff value the support of families and volunteers

FROM THE HEALTH DEPARTMENT
The sun is back! The sun is shining and it’s time to get outside to play! But before you run outside, make sure you remember your 5 S’s…
Slip: on some clothes that will protect your skin from
the sun (loose-fitting and tightly woven are best).
Slop: on some sunscreen that is at least SPF 30 and
filters UVA & UVB rays (broad-spectrum). Put sun-screen on 20 minutes BEFORE you go outside, so it can soak in. Don’t forget your ears, nose and feet if you are wearing sandals! Lips should also be protect-ed with SPF 30 lip balm.
Slap: on a wide-brimmed hat to protect your face, ears and neck
Seek: shade when outside between 11am-4pm
Slide: on some sunglasses that have 100% UVA &
UVB filters. Attention moms, dads, coaches and caregivers: sun dam-age can happen quickly, so make sure youth remember sunscreen for lunch break, gym class, track and field and other outdoor activities. For more information, talk to your school nurse.
