Believed that God had chosen him to save his people from bondage.
Responsible for killing more than 50 white men, women, and children.

Wanted to create a colony for runaway slaves.
He and his followers raid the arsenal at Harper’s Ferry, VA to get weapons.
Was captured by Marines.
Was hanged in Charles Town, VA.
