•Born on October 29,1897 in Rheydt, in the Rhineland •Died, April 1945•Under five feet tall•Had a limp
Schooling
Went to Roman Catholic schools Attended Heidelberg University
Doctorate of philosophy in 1920
World War I era
Could not participate in the First World War, due to clubfoot.
Later on, he told people his limp was due to an injury sustained in WWI, although it was really due to contracting polio as a child
The Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei
Goebbels joined the NSDAP in 1922
Hitler gave him the task of building up support in Berlin
He was later appointed as Minister for Public Enlightenment and Propaganda
Was a very powerful orator

May 10, 1933 Goebbels staged the infamous “book-burning”; pieces of Jewish, Marxist, and other “undesirable” work were piled and burned in a bonfire
Organized Kristallnacht on November 9-10, 1938

Was a chief secret abettor for deporting Jews from Berlin
In charge of morale boosts and propaganda
