Title : AUTOMATED CAR PARK RESERVATION SYSTEM

Background of the project
Nowadays, the demand for the parking area is highly increased due to the increased number of
vehicle in cities. In this context, it is a needy one to find a solution for the vehicle parking system
according to the modern world. Internet became a friend of everyone and all the people using it to
find tons of information by their smart phones. People find online reservations as a smart way to
save their time in their most works. These days all the processes are been digitalized and provided
as self-service to customers in order to reduce the work load of the maintenance staff
Using these technology, a fine solution can be done as “Automated car park reservation system”.
The system is embedded web page and also would include an easy android application system
accessed with internet, so that the driver can reserve a place to park his vehicle in a time without
facing any difficulties.
Therefore, this project would be a helpful for the people who need to park their vehicles.
Problem Identification
Car Parking Reservation and Maintenance are one of the major issues in Metropolitan cities. In
this case, searching for parking space is always been a difficult process due to less number of
parking areas and slots available in cities.
Hence come the need of such a system which can automatically search available parking space,
and allow for Reservation, Thus it will help the user in saving time, petrol and money.
Aim and Objective

The Aim of the Project is to make the user easy to reserve Car Park Space through Automated
System via using mobile phone internet.
Objectives
Provide an interface to the user therefor that the user can find and reserve suitable car park
area.
ID number and the waiting time is provided to the users who has done reservation.
Reserve a parking slot for a user until the waiting time is expired. So that the particular parking
slot become unavailable for other users.
Use sensors to find available parking slots by taking reading.
Users are prompted to enter the ID number so that the users will be guided to their reserved
parking slot.
Scope and Limitation
Scope
The purpose of the project is to develop the car parking system which can automatically check
the available parking space and allow the User to reserve a parking space via a website interface
through internet browser and android web application for regular users.
The system is going to develop to monitor the parking system that reserved user’s details,
privacy reserve security for each reserved users and also way guidance for reserved car parking
space for the user. The sensors which are going to use in the prototype

Limitation
The proposed system also has its limitation.
The system has no user registration. Due to this user details are not collected through the
system. There would be also difficulties in making inquiries between administrators and the
clients. This can be fixed by registering clients to the system.
Payment for the reservation is not included in the system, the customer must personally pay
by cash or card by visiting the parking place. By providing internet payment gateway through
the web application the user would able pay online.
When the reservation is made the system displays only the location of the parking area. It does
not directs the user to the parking area. It will be more comforting the user if the mobile
application navigates the user to the parking area location via the GPS available in the smart
phone.
The description for above proposed design
The AVR Microcontroller will be the main components to control the all activity. Distance
Sensor will help to track the automatic vehicle detection in the project. The LED digital arrows
will guide driver to a free parking space using of the particular key Pad input Number, and the
display will be show the input number of keypad and reserved information in SD Card.
On the other hand Ethernet and Router are two way communications between AVR
Microcontroller and Phone/Computer which is used to receive the free parking space data,
transmit chosen parking space data and again receive the chosen parking space Number through
the Phone/Computer via internet.
In this proposal the main use of Ethernet is to provide a network (IP) which will be able to
answer a HTTP request and TCP and UDP conversation to create a simple Web server through
AVR Microcontroller to internet. After opening a browser and navigating to the Ethernet IP
address, the AVR Microcontroller will respond with just enough HTML for a browser to display
the available parking slots from the reading of the sensor so that user can reserve the chosen slot.
AVR Microcontroller Webserver has a specific static IP address which is provided by the local
ISP (Internet Service Provider) and Port within the network. Users (Client) are able to access the
AVR Microcontroller Webserver from anywhere via Internet using the specific IP address once
the connected Net gear Router is configured with a Port Forwarding.
In order to simplify the IP address to the users a domain name is introduced and pointed to the
specific IP address. So that the user can use web browser in their phone to access the web pages

developed to handle all these processes and give a very user friendly interface to reserve parking
slot.
