Welcome to Long Beach We would like to welcome you to the 12th Future of Freedom

Conference here at Cal State Univ., Long Beach. Again, we think we have put together another dynamic program of

speakers, panels and workshops. And in doing so, we have tried again to bring to you a widerange of viewpoints to enjoy, learn and ponder. It is important to us that discriminating minds be given the opportunity to hear articulate speakers from all the major factions of the freedom movement-libertarians, decentralists, voluntaryists, objectivists and individualists.

In the future we hope that the impact of our conference series will help America re-discover its anti-authoritarian roots.

IN THE BEGINNING The Future of Freedom Conference series began in 1969 with a keynote speech by Prof. Ludwig von Mises. Called the "Ludwig von Mises Conference," over 200 students attended the first conference at Cal State Univ., Long Beach. The conference was in response to a break with the nation-wide Young Americans for Freedom (YAF) by libertarian YAF members. These libertarian members (Dana Rohrabacher, Shawn Steel, Doug Kennel, R. Kimberling, Dennis Turner, John Schurman and others) were purged from YAF and quickly formed the California Libertarian Alliance. One of their first projects was to organize a conference around libertarian, decentralist, voluntaryist, individualist and objectivist principles.

Now From The Exciting Speech by Robert LeFevre ... Comes An

Exciting Booklet!

"Does Government Protection Protect?"

One of the best speeches by radio/TV commentator, newspaper columnist and author, Robert LeFevre. Taking a strong libertarian position towards protection, LeFevre argues that "Governments have never really said they are· going to protect us" and that governments are more interested in getting people to obey legislative laws than actually providing protection. LeFevre says that so-called government protection usually comes after the fact-after the crime has been committed. And that usually governments give us only laws of retaliation. But, according to LeFevre, people want to be protected, not victimized. (Price: $3.95 each, Including $ l .00 for shipping and handling).

RAMPART INSTITUTE Co-sponsors of the Future of Freedom Conf.

Like the immortal bird Phoenix , Rampart Institute a rose from the ashes of a long deceased organization that once held the respect and ad miration.of the movement for individual liberty. Opening its doors in 1956, Rampart College, originally located in the Rampart Range of the Colorado Mountains , became defunct in early 1975. Ever since its demise, a tremendous gap in the studies of liberty and free market economics has been apparent. !n 1981 Rampart Institu te was born to fill this vo id.

NEW BOOK BY BOB LeFEVRE One of the major projects of Rampart Institute ever since its beginning was to publish Robert LeFevre's Fundamentals of Liberty . So fa r, the LeFevre's book has been lypesetted, but the cost of publishing this book has kept it from being printed.

Lefevre has worked on Fu ndam entals of Liberty for over 15 years and parts of it has been used in Rampart C~lege's home study course. With the help of the libertarian community, we to publish this book in the co rning years. Any contribution to this project would be very appreciated.
