WE’RE DROWNING IN DATA! ARE YOU PREPARED TO HELP?SLAYING YOUR ORGANIZATIONAL

DRAGONS (BEFORE THEY SLAY YOU)

KNOW YOUR LEADERSHIP COMPASS: A ROADMAP TO LEAD WITH PASSION AND PURPOSE MUTUAL RESPECT –

YOU MAKE THE DIFFERENCE

The title of a recent HBR article by Randy Bean and Tom Davenport, says it all, “Companies are Failing in Their Efforts to Become Data-Driven.” The research results they cite from NewVantage Partners are unequivocable: People AND process are the number 1 obstacle. For this to significantly shift, the authors state that organizations must address “cultural barriers to business adoption.” They didn’t say, “What’s needed is more advanced technology,” or “Get everyone to think like a data scientist” or “Better data visualizations are needed.” Did you know that: • Being data-driven is an impossible goal … and that another outcome can drive cultural success? • Observations based on data differ wildly from insights and that only insights can drive transformation and innovation? • Communicating findings from data will likely fall flat if data in any form is included? If you’re interested in learning the answers to these questions, this presentation is for you! In this talk, Lori will reveal several “mythconceptions” that we’re routinely taught to believe that cause cultural barriers to adoption. Learn what you can do as a PM or BA to help your enterprise create a more connected, collaborative culture and gain meaningful business benefits from data.

Beware! Beyond Here Be Dragons! They cause nothing but pain, heartache, and immeasurable frustration. They have sacked cities, scorched the ground to make the land inhospitable, and caused entire empires to fall. Dragons! They’re the worst! Well, then get ready for a shock, noble knights…the dragons we fight everyday, with whom we are entwined in an eternal struggle, are winning…which, obviously, is not good for us. In fact, there are 7 dangerous, dastardly dragons that dominate, preventing our organizations (and us!) from achieving our full potential. No matter your industry, sector, or market, we all deal with dragons; some are just little baby dragons, best to be dealt with before they grow too large, because those older dragons make victory much more difficult. But not impossible. So grab your sword, your shield, and your shouts…we’ve dragons to slay!

Business Leaders, Managers, and Directors may be brilliant leaders in one situation and do not have the same results in another. Management gurus agree: Anyone can lead, not everyone can be a successful leader. The previously embraced command-and-control techniques are increasingly ineffective. Today’s business environment demands leaders to be alert, agile, enterprising, and skilled in the art of diplomacy. As a leader, it’s imperative to articulate who you are, and what you stand for, and why you’re excited to lead your team. Are these areas you feel you need to develop? Do you have a compass to guide you on the journey of leading through challenging times, your teams, stay flexible in dealing with them; try to respond to them in ways that address their needs and interests. If so, join us for this Keynote “Know your Leadership Compass: A Roadmap to Lead with Passion and Purpose.” It is a highly-interactive reflective process that sets a path to transformational leadership. Participants will receive a navigational direction to support others as they assert their leadership maturity and learn how their thinking and behavior impacts the way they lead others.

Disrespect happens. No matter how we reinforce expectations for workplace respect, every workplace encounters those who become workplace nightmares. If ignored or handled badly, bad behavior can devastate a project, team or organization like a wildfire. If handled early and effectively, relationships and workplace culture will be enriched. This makes disrespect management critical – it takes skill to effectively avoid arguments, clarify misunderstandings, deal with disputes, and repair relationships. Simply put - disrespect requires intervention and direct conversations. This Keynote provides leaders with tools for approaching and resolving disrespect issues before they become full-blown conflicts. Participants will learn how to assess the situation early, maturely and how to change the context of the conversation. This Keynote helps leaders use direct conversations to take the initiative to confront the problem. Critical to disrespect management, participants will develop strategies for changing the context of conflicts from negative to positive, from disrespectful to appropriate. Participants will learn how to turn a disagreement into an opportunity to provoke learning and enrich relationships.

What’s all this I hear about Design Thinking? And how is design going to help my organization improve business processes, customer experience and employee engagement? Well, in the same way that the Agile methodology has changed the way we work, Design Thinking was created to change the way we solve problems. As in Agile, Design Thinking solutions are totally focused on the needs of your users, to deliver rapid, iterative value. Through a process of brainstorming, iteration, and testing, design thinking helps ensure you’re solving the right problems, and validating those solutions before expensive development and design occurs. The key to Design Thinking is approaching the process with the goal of finding actionable results— uncovering unexpected ideas you wouldn’t have otherwise considered, to get new, creative solutions. It’s not meant for every kind of problem. But it has proven to be quite effective at addressing business process problems, which tend to be focused on end users and what they value. And in the same

way that Agile allows teams to adjust, with iterative cycles and short sprints, Design Thinking is an especially great way to pivot in order to meet the ever-changing needs of customers. In fact, it’s possible to get creative solutions in less than a day. In this workshop, participants will learn about the Design Thinking process, and then team up to solve a business process case problem; you’re going to learn by doing. Ready to step outside your comfort zone and get started? Join me in a galaxy far, far away to solve this little rebellion problem.Learning Objectives• Understand the stages of thought in Design

Thinking, to leverage existing tools to drive innovative solutions

• Apply the decision-making process in both individual circumstances, and within a team

• Determine which decision solution is best, and how to determine what “best” means for your problem, and apply innovation and creativity to the development of your decisions

Sounds like the start of a good story. The most common problem facing Agile practitioner isn’t the basics – it’s how it all fits together on a typical project. How does an Agile project get started? Once it gets started, how do you plan it in sprint zero? How do you pull an Agile sprint back from the brink of failure? What’s the best way to show status on a sprint? In this workshop we take you on a ride through a typical Agile project with all the turns and twists along the way from planning, epics, theme, user stories, backlogs, spikes, status and risk. Resource Management issues? We got that covered too. Understand how the pieces of Agile fit together into a process and how to use it effectively. Learn how a Busi-ness Analyst and Project Manager can fit into Agile. Bring your toughest situations. Let’s roll

up our sleeves and work through them in this interactive journey through an Agile project. This workshop is designed for intermediate to advanced Agile practitioners.Learning Objectives• Walk through an Agile project from

beginning to the end in this interactive fast paced workshop that will bring deeper understanding to how the Agile fundamentals fit together into an efficient process

• Learn how to pull sprint back from the brink of failure and manage risk in an Agile environment

• Discover new approaches to techniques to manage communication, expectations setting, status reporting, resource management, and much more

More and more, roles in organizations demand more technical savvy. Everyone is talking about digital transformation. Technology is rapidly changing to meet those needs and in turn, is changing how we need to approach our roles and the requirements that drive product changes. The term “Technical Re-quirements” is not an industry standard yet they seem to be cropping up more and more. What is the best way to handle these Technical Requirements? Who should own them? How can we analyze them? Are you ready for your technical future? Come join us for a fun-filled

day to learn about Technical Requirements, discover what they really are, are not, and how to document them.Learning Objectives• Define what Technical Requirements are• Define what digital transformation is• Break down the myths behind Technical

Requirements• Understand the need to become more

technical in your role• Learn how to document Technical Requirements• Understand how to approach analysis of

more technical projects

How do you effectively share a data-driven business case? How do you keep stakeholders engaged while sharing a bunch of numbers and figures? How do you turn a pile of statistics into something that’s meaningful? All data has a voice. Someone has to extrapolate meaning from it — and then transform this meaning into a compelling story that moves people to take action. In this workshop, you’ll learn how to storify data and information to more quickly get your point across to get the action that’s needed.

Learning Objectives• After this workshop, you will be able to

determine what a specific set of data/infor-mation is trying to tell you and others — its meaning

• After this workshop, you will be able to create a compelling story from the data/ information’s meaning

• After this workshop, you will be able to decide on a story structure that best suits what you’re trying to convey so people are moved to take action

Or where the end result was no longer aligned to where the business needed to head because uncontrollable factors occurred along the way? Ever have disagreements at the front end of an initiative about what might happen in the marketplace during the course of getting project work done? Because we live in a VUCA (volatile, uncertain, chaotic and ambiguous) world, on large, complex projects and programs that take significant time and resources to implement, it’s not enough to

articulate a singular vision without first under-standing the possible futures likely to unfold and impact your initiative. In this hands-on workshop, you’ll experience all the steps in scenario planning in a team environment so that you’re equipped to facilitate the process back at work.Learning Objectives• Develop an effective scenario question• Outline the steps in scenario planning• Guide a team through developing scenarios
