    GET NOTICEDReal work experience

Many of our courses include a work experience component which is designed to provide you with valuable hands-on experience. Many students leave formal education without any practical understanding so this will look great on your CV or university application.

    Get involved

We have a massive range of enrichment and extra curricular opportunities available at College and as part of the LSU. Participating is a fantastic way to show your dedication, motivation and passion for a cause outside of your studies.

    Careers advice

Whether you’re applying for university or entering the world of work, we can help you fill in those tricky applications, provide CV, cover letter and interview tips or even discuss gap year options. We’ll work with you to define your strengths to ensure that you feel confident in moving forward.

In such a highly competitive market, gaining a place at university or landing a job is getting increasingly difficult. Exam results are still crucial and will give you a boost but they’re not enough on their own.

    That’s where we come in.

In addition to your qualification, we’ll provide you with the qualities to stand out from the crowd and help you to gain the competitive edge over other prospective candidates...

  • Full-time courses

Our full-time course provision covers various subject areas at different levels and allows you to identify a clear progression route for advanced study or employment. Our courses are taught by experienced staff and provide you with the opportunity to develop valuable skills and knowledge for further progression. For an overview of what’s on offer, see page 34 onwards.

    Apprenticeships

Apprenticeships allow you to get paid while gaining a recognised qualification and provide you with the opportunity to learn practical skills within a professional working environment. We work in collaboration with a number of established companies. Apprenticeships are offered at Intermediate (Level 2) Advanced (Level 3) levels.

    Higher Apprenticeships

These work in the same way as the Intermediate and Advanced Apprenticeship programmes, but are offered at levels 4 and 5. We now offer Higher Apprenticeship placements in Accounting, Management and Space Engineering.

    Progressing into Higher Education

Whether you are looking to start a university level course now or in the future, it’s worth knowing what we have to offer. Our Higher Education programmes are all validated by leading universities and provide you with the opportunity to study a range of courses. With competitive tuition fees, smaller class sizes and a more flexible approach to delivery, we aim to give you more for less.

    Raising the Participation Age

As of 2013, a new government policy requires all young people to stay in education or training until the academic year in which they turn 17 and this is set to increase again in 2015 to the age of 18.

Raising the participation age does not, however, mean that you will be required to stay in school and you will be able to choose from different post-16 options as an alternative. These include:

    • Full-time education either in College or school

    • Apprenticeships that allow for work-based learning

    • Part-time education or training if you are employed, self-employed or volunteering full-time for 20+ hours a week
